CHAPTER 082 (FINAL)
CHAPTER 082 (FINAL)
«JARVIS'S POINT OF VIEW»
I stretched my arms backward as the morning sun pierced through the curtains of my room, my eyes still shut and a placid smile displayed on my lips. The golden rays spread across the bed, warming my skin and pulling me from sleep little by little. I shifted my body, trying to turn onto my side, but I immediately felt something heavy resting on my waist. Instantly, my smile widened as I snuggled closer to whatever lay behind me, yearning for more of what it had to offer: warmth, security, and comfort. I wanted more of it.
Sluggishly, my eyes fluttered open, the first thing coming into view being the pale ceiling above me. Sleepily, my gaze drifted downward to discover an arm wrapped around my front. Slowly, I turned around, coming face to face with the sleeping features of my treasure.
The only person capable of making me say yes after I had already told everyone else no. I chuckled inwardly, my heart melting at the sight of him lying so close after everything we had gone through together. I could only thank my stars.
Carefully, I traced my finger along his jaw and down to his soft lips, admiring every familiar feature. Even in sleep, he looked unfairly handsome. So fascinating. So mine... I thought, wishing that quiet moment could last forever.
Unfortunately, fate had other plans. My ears suddenly caught the loud sound of an alarm. Startled, I jerked upright, waking the other person in the process. He sat up almost immediately, rubbing his eyes.
“What is it, babe?” he muttered, struggling to keep his eyes open.
I laughed softly at the adorable sight. “It’s the alarm. It’s past nine, and we’re supposed to meet Tristan and Sean today. We’re having breakfast together.”
He hissed dramatically before wrapping his arms around me and pulling me back onto the bed. “Sometimes, I wonder who’s more important between that kid and me. You always run over whenever he calls, leaving me hanging most of the time,” he murmured against my neck.
I burst into laughter at the ticklish sensation. “Of course, you’re more important, but my best friend comes right after you.”
He scoffed. “I know you’re lying. You’ll leave this bed at the first opportunity and run straight to him. Doesn’t he already have a boyfriend and two children to look after? How do you two always have time for each other when you barely have time for me, and I’m your fiancé?”
At his words, my eyes drifted to the ring on my finger. My smile widened instantly. I found myself thinking back to our engagement, the happiest day of my life. I remembered my mother crying as she gave us her blessing and the way Dad had hugged us proudly afterward.
We were simply in love.
“Are you really planning on going after your friend?”
I turned and pecked his lips. “No, silly. I was thinking about our engagement party.”
Slowly, I took his hand and intertwined our fingers while he brought my palm to his lips. “I love you so much,” he whispered.
Heat instantly rushed to my face, and I buried myself in his chest. I love you too.”
Without much effort, he pulled me closer, wrapping his arms securely around my waist. Safe. Warm. And Right.
Everything felt perfect. Nothing could go wrong.
I leaned down and kissed him once more, but before I could pull away completely, his hand slid to the back of my neck, deepening the kiss and making my heart race all over again.
“Tristan...” I warned between breaths.
“He can wait. I just want to remind you how much I love you.”
I laughed softly. “Okay.”
He grinned mischievously before pulling me down beside him, peppering my neck with kisses.
Tristan would just have to wait. Sorry, friend.
~~
It was almost midday when we finally arrived at the restaurant and immediately spotted Tristan and Sean seated by the window. I grabbed Levi’s hand and led him over before dropping into the seats opposite them.
“Good morning!” I greeted cheerfully.
Tristan merely huffed and turned his face away, annoyance written all over him. “There’s nothing good about this morning, Jarvis.”
“I’m sorry. It was his fault.” I playfully hit Levi on the shoulder.
“What? He was keeping you occupied. We’ve been waiting for almost an hour!” Tristan slammed his fist lightly on the table, earning a few curious glances from nearby customers.
“I’m sorry. It won’t happen again. Levi is paying since it was his fault.”
“You better believe he is. I plan to eat everything.”
“Can we please order now?” Sean and Levi asked simultaneously.
“You boys are dramatic. And, Kitten, we arrived only a minute ago.”
Sean stood and headed toward the counter, Levi following behind him.
The moment they left, I leaned forward, resting my elbows on the table. “Tell me something new.”
Tristan’s face immediately lit up. Raising his hand, he showed me the ring sitting on his finger. “He proposed this morning!”
“We’re getting married!” I squealed.
The realization hit us both at the same time: we were two grown men squealing in the middle of a restaurant. Clearing our throats, we sat back properly and pretended not to notice the amused looks around us. Who cared?
We stared at each other for a moment before bursting into laughter. It felt good. For the first time in a long time, nothing was weighing on our shoulders. There were no secrets, danger, or fear. Just freedom.
A few moments later, Sean and Levi returned with our drinks, each pressing a kiss to our cheeks before taking their seats. Looking around the table, I realized that nothing could be more perfect than this moment.
Two couples. Two stories. Countless tears, misunderstandings, heartbreaks, and hardships, and yet, somehow, we had made it here.
“We decided to have a double wedding,” Tristan announced proudly. “I hope you men don’t have any problem with that.” He shot Sean and Levi a pointed look, and I nodded enthusiastically while Sean and Levi merely shrugged as though they couldn’t care less.
Tristan and I exchanged a triumphant high five. Nothing could go wrong. If this wasn’t a happy ending, then I didn’t know what was.
Maybe happily ever after did exist after all.
The End!
Tristan as Narrator: Well, that’s love for you.
Jarvis as Narrator: It changes people, turns lives upside down, but somehow, it always finds its way back to where it all began.
Tristan playfully hit Jarvis on the shoulder. “Hey, I thought this was my story!”
Jarvis rolled his eyes and grinned. “IT’S OUR STORY.”
And neither of them wanted it to end.
