The Rescue Mission
Lucian’s Infiltration
Clara's guardians were scared as the sound of bullets burst outside her hiding spot. The doors were blasted open, causing the ground to tremble under them. Lucian and his group entered with lightning-fast and precision maneuvers.
Lucian strained to get his thoughts about Isabella out of his brain, his heart beating. He was here because he had told her he would. However, time was running short. He glanced around at the pandemonium, but his sole worry was getting to her.
"Go, go, go!" Lucian roared at his warriors. "Seek her out and deliver her to me." alive.
With Isabella in her clutches, he couldn't afford to let Clara slip away this time.
Clara's men began fire on them from all sides as they went farther into the hiding location. Despite bullets flying and bouncing off walls, Lucian remained unwavering. His body moved with a deadly precision that he had learned over years of practice, and his mind was alert.
A figure immediately came at him from the side, but Lucian outran it. He sidestepped the swing and hit the man's jaw with a fast, crushing blow that put him unconscious.
With resolution blazing in his breast, he murmured under his breath, "Isabella." Before it was too late, he needed to contact her.
The hall resonated with the sound of footfall. Lucian peered in the direction of the source, his eyes narrowing. It came from the room in front of them. Clara's room.
He clinched his hands and went forward without thinking.
A Battle to the Death
With his gun ready and pointed, Lucian dashed through the door. Inside, Clara stood in the center of the area, ice wrath gleaming in her eyes. She had expected him all along, so she wasn't astonished to see him.
"Lucian," Clara answered in a venomous tone. "At last, you're here."
Lucian's jaws tightened. He wasted no time in speaking. "Where is Isabella?"
With her hands on her hips, Clara smiled. "Oh, she's here." However, I worry that in order to gain her, you will need to go trough me.
Lucian's grip on the rifle tightened as his eyes darkened. "Clara, you don't want to do this."
The sound of Clara's giggle was piercing and chilly. "Oh, but I do."
Clara instantly pulled her own pistol and fired a shot that barely missed Lucian's shoulder. He dove just in time, taking refuge behind an adjacent table.
"Is that all you have?" Despite the danger, Lucian's voice remained cool as he teased. He fired a shot that grazed Clara's arm as he looked out from behind the table.
Despite hissing in anguish, she refused to give up. "You feel you can just take her away from me? She is who she is because of me!
Lucian's eyes were flaming with wrath. "She wasn't built by you. You will never be as powerful as she is.
Clara yelled and rushed at him, pointing her gun at his chest. Lucian, however, was speedier. He kicked the knife out of her grasp and sent it flying across the floor after diving under her assault.
Their eyes were trapped in a fight of wills, and they stood inches apart, breathing hard. Lucian wasn't terrified, even though he could see the anger in Clara's eyes. No more.
With a low, scary voice, he announced, "This is over now."
With blood flowing from her arm, Clara smirked. Lucian, do you feel you've won? Not even half of it is known to you.
Clara drew a little knife from underneath her coat before Lucian could answer. He grasped her wrist and twisted it till she screamed in anguish as she stabbed at him.
"You're finished," Lucian said.
Although Clara's eyes widened, she wasn't done yet. Reaching inside her boot for a hidden weapon, she withdrew. Seeing the movement, Lucian prepared himself for the final strike.
However, a voice broke the tension before Clara could act.
Scene 3: The Stand of Isabella
"Stop!"
Isabella was standing at the doorway as Lucian turned, and his heart soared. Despite her pale complexion and worn demeanor, she had fire in her eyes. She was aiming a weapon right at Clara with her shaky hands.
Clara's grin evaporated as her eyes widened in astonishment. She sneered, "Isabella, you lack the courage."
Isabella steadied herself despite her quivering hands. "Clara, you don't know me."
Isabella and Lucian conveyed a silent understanding as their eyes met. He gave her a slight nod, urging her to accomplish the work at hand.
With a chuckle, Clara stepped closer Isabella. "You're not going to pull the trigger. You're not strong.
Isabella felt her heart beating. She was conscious of the importance of the situation and the decision she was about to make. She had lost her weakness. Not after everything that she had suffered.
Isabella held her finger over the trigger and murmured, "I'm not weak." "No longer."
Reaching for a revolver tucked behind her shawl, Clara lunged forward. Isabella, however, didn't think twice this time.
BANG!
Clara froze, her eyes wide with horror as the gunshot resonated throughout the room. She lurched back, gasping hard, as blood exploded over her chest.
Clara's reign of terror came to an end as she dropped to the ground, leaving Lucian in frightened quiet.
As Isabella lowered the gun, her hands trembled and the weight of her deeds heaved in her chest. She was the one who had shot. She had put a halt to it.
Running to her side, Lucian grabbed her into his hug. With a voice full of relief, he whispered, "It's over." "You succeeded."
With her pulse still beating, Isabella nodded. I was obliged to. I had to stop her from injuring anybody else.
With pride burst in his heart, Lucian hugged her close. "Isabela, you underestimate how strong you are."
She stared up at him, emotion streaming in her eyes. "I wasn't alone myself. You were at my side the whole time.
With a kind tone, Lucian stroked a strand of hair away from her face. "And I will be forever."
Everything looked to be motionless for a time. They were at last secure, and the danger had gone. However, Lucian knew in his heart that the war was far from done. There were still foes and forces out there that would seek to destroy them.
But they had each other for the time being. And that was adequate.
The stillness was disturbed by the sound of a distant explosion just as Lucian was leaning in to kiss Isabella. Lucian's eyes became wide with horror as the earth rattled below them. His pulse was racing once again as he murmured, "What the hell was that?"
Isabella clutched on to him as her terror resurfaced. "We're not safe yet, Lucian."
