Chapter 157 He ignores me!
Chapter 157 He ignores me!
Chapter 159
Eileen's POV
"Stop shedding those tears." Melissa wiped the tears from my face with the back of her hand while her other hand gently patted my back.
"He said I was sick and I wasn't his type of girl!" More tears rushed down my cheeks.
Damn!
My legs were stuck to the ground when he humiliated me in front of other students while they watched.
And then he just walked past me as if I had never existed.
This was so unfair.
My heart writhed with pain. I couldn't stop sobbing even with Melissa beside me, trying to comfort me.
"He said hurtful things to me in public. I really..." I stopped halfway, my mind scrambling for the right words.
"Jeez!" Melissa crinkled her nose. "That brat!"She gestured with her fingers and smirked.
For a moment, she looked thoughtful. Then she held my chin and made me look at her.
"I know how to deal with him. Just leave him to me." Her voice was soft as she tried to calm me.
I sniffled and wiped my cheeks with the back of my hand.
"What are you going to do?"
"Nothing that will get me into trouble." She smiled innocently.
I narrowed my eyes at her. That smile did not look innocent at all.
"Melissa..."
"What?" she asked, blinking at me.
"You're planning something."
She rolled her eyes. "Of course not."
"You are."
"I'm not."
"Melissa."
"Fine!" She threw her hands into the air. "Maybe I am."
I stared at her.
She leaned closer and lowered her voice. "But you don't need to know yet."
"Why?"
"Because you'll stop me."
"I might."
"Exactly."
Despite everything, a tiny smile escaped me. Melissa noticed it immediately and pointed at my face.
"There! That's better."
I quickly wiped the smile away."I'm still hurt."
"I know." Her expression softened. "And you have every right to be."
She pulled me into a hug.
"But listen to me, Eileen. One stupid boy's words don't decide your worth. If he thinks you're not his type, then good for him. He can go and find his type somewhere else."
I remained silent.
Her words sounded comforting, but the ones he had said still echoed painfully in my head.
Sick.
Not his type.
Those words kept repeating over and over again.
Maybe I really was—
"No."
Melissa suddenly pulled away and shook my shoulders.
I blinked at her.
"Don't you dare start thinking nonsense."
"I wasn't."
"You were." She squinted at me. "I know that face."
I sighed."I don't understand why he had to say it like that."
"Because he's a jerk."
"But he could have simply rejected me."
"Exactly!"
She folded her arms across her chest."He didn't have to embarrass you in front of everyone. That was deliberate."
I looked down.
"He wanted to hurt you," she continued. "And you know what? We're not going to give him the satisfaction."
I swallowed hard."But I already cried in front of everyone."
"So?"
I looked at her."So?"
"Yes, so?" Melissa shrugged. "You cried because you were hurt. That doesn't make you weak."
She wiped another tear from the corner of my eye."And besides, everyone will forget about it."
I wasn't so sure. The whispers were still fresh in my mind.
The looks and the laughter on their faces.
The way everyone had stared at me while he rejected me without even looking back.
I felt humiliated all over again.
"I just want to go home."
"Okay." Melissa grabbed my hand. "Then let's go."
We started walking away from the school building. I had barely taken a few steps when Melissa stopped.
"Wait."
"What?"
She turned around and looked toward the school entrance.
That was Ryan, standing, and looking in our direction. Our eyes met and I was suddenly overwhelmed with fear. I shouldn’t have looked back.
I shouldn’t.
I know he disgraced me a few moments ago, but here I was at the moment. I still wanted to move closer to him, stay in his arms and inhale his pine scents.
Fuck! I was drooling and dripping at the same time.
He looked at me in disdain and smirked before walking towards me.
With each stride that he took towards me, my heart pounded right against my chest.
My breathing grew heavier.
Was he coming to me to apologize or to apologize?
I laughed inwardly at my words. Either of them would cause him to be pompous.
But, Ryan got to my side and simply walked past me without sparing me a glance, instead, he hugged a girl who was standing behind me.
I turned to see another girl in his arms.
That sight really broke me. The tears fell freely. I couldn’t control my emotions anymore.
“You’re the most beautiful woman ever on earth. I promised to love you till you don’t want me anymore,” he promised his new girl.
Should I leave right? I should leave his side, but my legs were so heavy. No matter what, they weren’t going to move.
Ryan and his new girl walked to my side and stopped.
He adjusted the girl’s hair. “You have beautiful eyes, perfect face structure and frame unlike some glutton,” he pouted his lips. “They really don’t know their place. Taking kindness for love.
Melissa was going to talk to him but, I held her hands back. I shook my head when she looked back at me with fierceness burning in her eyes.
A hot tear slipped down my cheeks.
“That’s true,” the girl responded. “Other girls should steer away from my man. He only belongs to me and no one else,”
I swear, I burst into tears. Loud tears.
The worst part was that I couldn’t move even when I tried to run.
He was there with his new girl, watching me as I shed tears.
He didn’t even bother to comfort me, to show any sign of remorse.
I just need him to tell me once again that this attitude of his wasn’t a secret test to put me on trial.
He seemed to be serious but I just want to know for the last time that he isn’t my man anymore.
