Chapter 184 Recorder II
Tell me what happened to my father. There’s no way he had a hand in stolen ammunition. He was all talk and no bite. How did you frame him?” This was Vincent’s daughter's voice. His eyes widened.
Your father wasn’t part of the plan, he just happened to be the sacrificial lamb. His own voice played.
This recorder contained everything spoken in that dungeon.
The door snapped open. Edward slipped the recorder into his sleeves.
Richard walked inside, he saw Edward standing beside his desk.
“Uh..my ring rolled over,” he showed him. “Did you forget something?
“Yes, my car key,” Richard grabbed it.
Edward followed him as they left his study. He wondered if Richard had listened to it. If he had there’s no way he would be calm enough to still want to help him. To be sure he asked. “Have you been able to get hold of Vincent’s daughter?”
“No. My boys are still on it. She suddenly disappeared at Ring road. Since then no traces of her. Just double your security. We will get her.” Richard said.
“I’m just a bit worried. My anxiety level has been skyrocketing.”
Richard stopped. “When there’s issues, share. Don’t think you can bottle it all on your own. I got you.” He patted his shoulder.
Richard had no idea. Meaning he hadn’t even seen the recorder. Then it was left there not quite long ago. His mind flashed back to the maid who was cleaning the oak table.
“Daddy!” Eva called her father from the balcony of their own building delighted.
Richard chuckled lightly. “She’s still just a girl even though she has a child.” At the mention of a child his mind flew back to Liam. After all this he would look into that matter and speak with Edward.
Richard entered his car and drove off.
Edward waved at him with a forced smile and moved towards his daughter.
Immediately he got inside Eva flew into his arms “Daddy I have something to tell you… a lot is going on with me…”
“Baby that can wait.. okay.. I will solve all your problems, first you have to help me solve mine. I need you to send for Butler Rose right now.”
Eva looked at her father a bit confused. She had never seen him disoriented before but right now he was. She nodded.
“Do you have any servants employed recently?” He asked her.
“I have no idea.. It's butler Rose that assigns servants.. daddy it’s really important I tell you…”
“Wait!” He snapped at his daughter. He placed a hand over her shoulder. “Tell me later. Go bring her here.”
Eva nodded.
Butler Rose walked into a room inside Mavericks home. She saw Edward standing and pouring tea into a cup.
“Did you employ new servants recently?” He asked, immediately he sensed her presence.
Rose saw him sighed and turned for the door.
“Rose, we have unfinished business.” He took a sip from his cup.
Butler Rose's legs stood rooted. “Edward, do you think I’m still at your mercy? We don’t have anything going on here.” She continued to the door.
“Penthouse 54A at Cornell street. It’s a pretty good place. Nice house you got for your son.” He laughed.
Rose lost it. She walked towards him. “You wouldn’t dare touch my son.” She warmed him.
“I already have men stationed there. Because I know you will be a little stubborn. He ordered a stake out and my men are about to deliver it with a bomb inside.”
Color drained from Butler Rose’s face. “Edward, you wouldn’t dare.”
“I need an answer. The names of the newly employed maids. You have thirty seconds.”
“No new maids were employed.” She answered him.
Edward’s brows creased. His fist clenched on the sides. “I want you to monitor everything that goes into Richard’s office. Handle his affairs and don't send any servants. Bring any useful information.” He added casually.
Rose chuckled. “What makes you think I would do that? It seems you are panicked about something. You are acting out of character.”
Edward flared. “You have Ten seconds to agree this time. Once I press this button. The penthouse is going to light up. Puff!!” He laughed.
“When you called him a rapist, I wasn’t surprised because the blood of a rapist flows through his veins.” She shot back at him.
Edward paused. “What do you mean by that?”
“If you have forgotten I will tell you. Killian is the product of what you did to me that day.”
Edward staggered back. The tea cup loosened and fell on the floor.
“I’m not going to be your puppet again. If you have a problem, fix it yourself or confess your sins.” She turned.
“So?” Edward said. “Do you think telling me that would stop me?”
Rose was taken aback she turned back to face him.
“What?”
He moved towards her in quick strides. “So what if he's my son?” He leaned to her and whispered into her ears. “If I can kill my legitimate son. What do you think I would do to an illegitimate one?”
He pulled back with a smile. Rose stood there in shock, her hands shook slightly.
Edward took in her reaction with a satisfactory look. “Get my job done. I can bring your dead hole back to life again.” He said. “You enjoyed that night, didn't you? Naughty Butler.”
He snickered while walking out of the room.
His smile faltered after he left the room.
He saw Havilah sitting at the back of the house, a servant bent in front of her like she was whispering something.
“Hi grandpa,” Havilah greeted first. The maid pulled away from the little girl and stood up with her head bowed.
“Hi, babydoll.”
“What were you saying to her?” He asked the maid.
“Nothing. I was tying her shoe lace.” She pointed.
He looked at it and then back at the maid. She had a nose mask over half her face. He stepped forward, reaching out to take it off.
“Sir, it’s forbidden we remove the mask when the little miss is here. It’s an instruction given by the doctor to avoid her getting infected,” she immediately explained.
“Step away from her and take it off then,” he ordered as he tucked his hand casually into his pocket.
She looked up at him then slowly stepped away from the girl, her head was deeply bowed. She raised her hand and unhooked the right side.
“Edward, you came to visit and you didn’t bother checking on me. That’s a bit unfair.” Eleanor interrupted.
