Chapter 191

Chapter 191
Rainey's POV

Sunny didn't even blink. Just reached for his phone. "Sure. Give me your key and I'll—"

"Wait, you'd actually go? Right now?"

"You need clothes." He was already looking for his car keys. "It's not a big deal. Twenty minutes, tops."

"Oh my God, thank you. I thought you'd—"

"Rainey." That crooked smile. "It's fine. Just tell me what you need."

I started rattling off items—jeans from the second drawer, shirts from the closet, underwear (God, that was mortifying)—when he walked straight past me toward the massive closet.

"What are you—"

He emerged with an armful of clothes, looking way too pleased with himself. That lazy, self-satisfied smirk told me everything.

"Here." He tossed seven or eight items onto the bed—all tagged, all new. "Pick whatever you want."

I stared. Cream sweater. Dark jeans. Pale blue dress. Everything looked like it would fit.

My exact size.

"You already had all this ready."

His grin widened. "Yep."

"So when you agreed to drive back—" Heat flooded my face. "You were just fucking with me?"

"Yep."

"I DIDN'T—" I grabbed a pillow and whipped it at him. He caught it easy, laughing. "You're such an asshole!"

"Watching you just like that was entertaining." He tossed it back. "You looked cute."

Cute.
I was about to launch another pillow when my body reminded me—very insistently—that sudden movements were a terrible idea. Pain shot through my hips and I froze.

Sunny's expression changed instantly. The teasing vanished.

"Okay, that's enough." He crossed the room in three strides. "Time to wash up."

"I can walk—"

He scooped me up before I finished. "Sure you can. Right after you stop wincing."

I wanted to argue. But fighting while naked except for a sheet seemed like a losing battle.

Plus, fine—it hurt to move.

"I know your size," he murmured against my ear. "Had everything ready. Clothes, shoes, underwear—all in the closet."

My face burned. Even my underwear size?

He set me down gently at the bathroom door. I grabbed the doorframe, legs shaky.

"Thanks. I got it from here."

"You forgot something."

I turned back to find him holding up the pile of clothes I'd left on the bed, plus—oh God—a matching set of underwear in soft pink cotton.

My entire face felt like it was on fire.

I snatched everything and slammed the door in his face.

His laugh echoed through the wood. "Hey, Rainey?"

"What?"

"Towels."

Shit.

I cracked the door, arm out. He handed me a fluffy towel, and as I grabbed it, I snatched the thin blanket from the nearby shelf.

Then threw it over his head.

"OOF—"

I slammed the door. Locked it.

His laughter followed me to the shower.

---

The bathroom was ridiculous. Glass shower, soaking tub, marble everywhere. Magazine-spread fancy.

I stepped under the hot spray, letting it work out the soreness. God, I was sore. Everywhere.

I tried not to think about why as I shampooed my hair. Or about how Sunny had apparently planned all this. The clothes. The apartment. Everything.

After I dried off and dressed—the jeans fit perfectly, of course—I caught my reflection.

The hickeys.

Oh my God, the hickeys.

My entire neck was covered in them. Dark purple-red marks that stood out against my pale skin like a fucking road map of everywhere his mouth had been last night.

There was no hiding these. No scarf or turtleneck could cover this many.

I touched one gently. Tender.

Then my gaze hit the counter.

My skincare. Same face wash. Same toothpaste.

He'd stocked the bathroom with my stuff.

The towels were the soft kind I liked. Rainfall shower setting. Memory foam bath mat.

This wasn't just thoughtful. This was prepared.

My chest tightened.

I touched another hickey, this time with different feelings. Not embarrassment. Something warmer.

These were proof. Evidence. You're mine, I'm yours, we're together.

Fuck it. I wasn't hiding them.

Let people see. I was Sunny Hayes's girl, and I wasn't ashamed.

I checked my reflection once more and opened the door.

---

The bedroom was empty, but I spotted something on the couch.

A gift box. White with silver ribbon.

Inside was a bracelet—delicate silver chain with irregular stones. Not flashy. Not screaming expensive. Just beautiful.

Different from the other jewelry he'd given me. More personal.

I fastened it around my wrist and went to find him.

---

Sunny was in his study, staring at his computer. He looked up when I knocked.

His eyes went straight to my neck.

Slow smile. "Not hiding them?"

"Why should I?" I walked in barefoot. "You put them there. You deal with people seeing them."

"Oh, I can deal with it." His gaze dropped to my wrist. "You found it."

I held up my arm, letting the stones catch the light. "Thank you. It's beautiful."

"Not as beautiful as you."

"Oh my God." I covered my face. "So cheesy."

"You love it."

I did. Damn it, I did.

He crossed to me, taking my wrist and examining the bracelet. "Good. Wasn't sure if it was too much."

"It's perfect." I met his eyes. "Everything is. This place, the clothes, the bathroom stuff—it's like you've been preparing for me to live here."

His thumb traced my pulse point. "Maybe I have been."

My breath caught.

"I want to move my stuff here," I blurted. "Properly move in. Clothes, books, everything. Especially that safety deposit box full of jewelry you keep giving me."

His entire face lit up.

"Yeah?" His voice was careful, but his eyes danced. "You want to move in? Officially?"

"If that's—"

He kissed me before I finished. Hard and quick and full of happiness.

"Put your stuff wherever you want," he said against my lips. "Closet, bathroom, kitchen—hell, take over the whole place."

I laughed. "I just want space for my things."

"Come on." He grabbed my hand. "Let me show you the closet properly."

---

The walk-in closet was even more impressive up close. Two levels, spiral staircase. Easily over a hundred square feet.

Center of the room—massive glass display case. Watches, cufflinks, ties. All lit like a museum.

But it was the empty cases next to his that caught my eye.

"Those." I pointed. "Can I use one for my jewelry?"

Sunny's grin was blinding. "Baby, you can use all of them."

"I just need one." I examined it—solid glass, good locks, professional lighting. "Way better than a bank vault. At least here I can actually see the stuff."

Though privately, I thought if anyone robbed this place, they'd be set for life. His watch collection alone could fund someone's retirement.

"So you're really moving in?" Sunny asked from behind me.

I turned. He was watching me with that soft expression that made my heart do stupid things.

"Yeah. If you still want me to."

He closed the distance, arms around my waist, chin on my shoulder. "I've wanted you to move in long ago."

I leaned back against him, feeling his heartbeat.

"Hey," he murmured against my ear. "After lunch, I want to take you somewhere."

"Where?"
