Chapter 68 Partners In The Trap
Chapter 68 Partners In The Trap
Ze fell silent after I told him why I'd chosen to keep my relationship with Henry a secret.
I knew that Barbara had been with Henry before, and even if their relationship didn't work out, Barbara wouldn't let any woman in the office be with him. I didn't want to be the object of their gossip.
Ze sighed. I didn't know if he understood what I was saying, but knowing that he'd seen Henry and Jake at my house, I knew I had no chance of avoiding it.
"Okay, I can understand that you and Mr. Henry are in a relationship. But what about Mr. Jake? Why was he at your house that night? Wasn't your relationship pretty bad at the office?" Ze asked suspiciously. I guess this was the most uncomfortable part of explaining what was really going on. I couldn't tell him that we were in a threesome, because what we were going through felt far more complicated than a typical love triangle. In this story, I didn't know who truly loved me and who I truly loved.
"Our relationship has gotten better. Henry asked Jake to take care of me while I was feverish the other day until he came. He just asked him to help out for a while until his work was done," I said. It was the only excuse I could think of.
"Is that so?"
"Y-yeah, that's it. Y-you know, they're cousins, so they rely on each other."
Ze paused for a moment, trying to process my explanation, which I hoped made sense to him.
"Okay, I understand. Sorry, Amy, I was thinking about you being in a threesome."
"What?"
"I'm really sorry! But if that were to happen, I'd be so jealous of you...!" Ze hysterically imagined the crazy thing that had actually happened.
"T-that's impossible, right? You're always up to no good, Ze, ahahaha..." I said, laughing awkwardly. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if Ze and everyone else in the office knew how crazy I was about sex. I'd be ashamed for the rest of my life if my secret were discovered.
"That's just my guess, but come to think of it, it seems impossible that Mr. Henry, who is so authoritative and dominant, would want to share his girlfriend. He seems like a jealous man, doesn't he?"
"Haha...yeah, you're right. There's no way he'd want to share, he's not that kind of man," I said, once again with an awkward laugh.
Ze was right, on the outside, Henry seemed like a charismatic man who, if he wanted, could easily surround himself with many women. But unfortunately, he actually had bisexual tendencies, choosing to have sex with one woman and multiple partners.
"That's good then. I was worried that those two men might share you," he said. I was stunned, not knowing what Ze was worried about.
"That's impossible, Ze. I'm not that kind of woman. I won't let any man touch me except my boyfriend."
I don't know where my confidence came from, and I said something so contradictory to the truth.
I won't let any man touch me except my boyfriend? That was the biggest lie I've ever uttered. I sighed repeatedly, even though Ze had disappeared from my sight, but my anxiety still lingered.
My phone rang, Aiden's name flashing on the screen, instantly intensifying my anxiety. I knew I wouldn't be able to refuse Aiden, Leo, Xavier, or Keith if they invited me to another party, but for now, I was trying to restrain myself from those forbidden desires.
"Hello Aiden? What's your business calling me?" I asked as soon as I answered the call.
"Why do you ask? Of course I miss you. I'm your boyfriend, how could you ignore me for days?"
"Damn, I forgot I let him decide to be my boyfriend," I thought. I held my head, feeling dizzy, as I felt myself getting more and more caught up in a whirlwind of problems I'd initially taken for granted.
"I'm sorry, Aiden. I've been really busy lately and—"
"Too busy to even send me a message?"
"It's not like that, Aiden. You know that our relationship is very complicated, Leo is also like you, asking to be my boyfriend too, while I already have a boyfriend. I'm afraid he suspects me of playing with fire behind his back!"
"You know? Henry isn't a man you should cry over if he ultimately chooses to leave you. Just let him go if he wants to!"
"You understand the situation completely, Aiden!"
"I understand. I already told you I know him, right? I know what kind of person he is, so you don't have to worry!"
"Listen, Aiden, I can't trust you right now. I don't know who I can trust."
"Okay, I understand," Aiden said with a sigh. I wanted him to understand that I was really confused right now, not to mention my past relationship with Mr. Richard McDowell, which was increasingly taking up space in my memory.
"Looks like you're stuck, huh?" Aiden suddenly asked something I'd been worrying about.
"Hmm?"
"We should have met before you met that person. Too bad, Amy, otherwise you'd be having a great time right now."
"What do you mean?"
"It's okay, forget it! Call me again when you're feeling better, okay? I miss you so much, my love!" He tried to tease me again, and for some reason, it made me feel annoyed.
"What a tease!"
"Hahaha...but you like it, right? Honestly, I'm way more fun than your crazy boyfriend, right?"
"You're just as crazy!"
"Well, at least I don't bully or threaten anyone into submitting to me. See you later, honey? Call me soon, okay?" He ended the call.
After Aiden's voice was gone, I began to feel a strange silence. The anxiety I'd been trying to suppress was now rising to the surface. I couldn't lie to myself that I was increasingly afraid of Henry and Jake, I really couldn't figure out what they wanted from me. Aiden was right, I was trapped, completely trapped.
