Chapter 67 Strange Dreams
Chapter 67 Strange Dreams
"Why did I dream that again?" I thought to myself. I felt uneasy after remembering the dream I had last night. It felt like I was forcing myself to remember something I desperately wanted to forget.
"Amy? Are you going home now?" Ze asked, who, without me realizing, was standing in front of my desk.
"Yes, I'll be home soon. Do you need anything?" I asked. Ze smiled broadly after hearing me ask him that.
"You're so perceptive, Amy! You already guessed that I needed your help."
"Okay, just tell me what I can do for you."
"How about we go to a coffee shop? There's something I want to talk to you about. Do you have time? Or maybe you're busy?"
"I'm not busy. Okay, we can go to a coffee shop now. I just happen to be in the mood for coffee and cake."
"You've been looking tired lately, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Ze. There's nothing to worry about. But shouldn't we invite Regina and Jennifer too?" I asked. Ze suddenly became silent and immediately looked around as if he was afraid our conversation would be heard.
"I think it's best if we go alone."
"Why?"
"Because I have something I want to ask you, so I feel uneasy with Regi and Jennie around. Is that okay?"
"Okay."
Ze and I went to our regular coffee shop, about a kilometer from the office. I was confused as to what he really wanted to ask me that he didn't want Regina and Jennifer to know about.
After ordering coffee and a piece of cake, Ze remained silent and didn't start a conversation. I was starting to feel uneasy because this was unusual for him.
"Did you have a fight with Bob?" I asked, forced to open the conversation.
Ze sighed, looking troubled. I began to wonder what was really going on with him. As far as I knew, Ze was a cheerful person and rarely seemed this gloomy except when he broke up with his ex-boyfriends.
"Amy, it seems like Bob wants to get back with his ex-wife."
"What? Why?"
"He's been acting strange lately. He often comes home late, and yesterday he didn't come home for two days. One of my friends told me he saw Bob walking with a woman to a hotel in Brisbane."
"Did he go to Brisbane without your knowledge?"
"He didn't tell me he was going out of town. He just said he had work and couldn't come home. But it turns out he went on vacation with his ex-wife."
"Is that woman really his ex-wife? Have you seen her face?"
"Yes, my friend sent me a photo he took of Bob and the woman entering a hotel. As soon as I saw the woman, I knew it was his wife."
Ze's expression grew increasingly gloomy, her eyes even welling up with tears. I could understand her feelings; she must be feeling very confused right now.
"So, what do you plan to do after this?"
"I don't know why I always fail in love. I wonder, am I still not good enough for someone? I've done everything I can to make Bob happy. But I never thought he'd end up going back to that woman."
"But that's not certain, right? You should just ask Bob directly about what he really did! Because maybe it was all just a misunderstanding."
"That's for sure, Amy! I'm sure he won't be able to deny it if I show him the proof. Besides, I have something I want to ask you."
"What do you want to ask?"
"The other day I went to your apartment to visit you because I happened to have business nearby."
"S-so?"
"I saw Mr. Henry standing in front of your apartment unit's door, and Mr. Jake opened the door for him." Ze said. I fell silent as I listened to his confession. It felt like a secret you'd been keeping was slowly being revealed.
"W-why didn't you tell me you were coming to visit?
"That's because I didn't plan it. I saw Mr. Henry carrying a bouquet of red roses. Amy, if I may ask, what exactly is your relationship with those two? Why are they in your apartment?" Ze asked with an intimidating look in his eyes. I was a little doubtful, could Ze be trusted to keep this secret? What if he told someone else? What if he couldn't keep a secret? But it was impossible for me to find a plausible excuse right now. Two men in a woman's apartment, it was definitely not a coincidence.
"Can you keep this secret?" I asked, hesitantly, just to reassure him.
"Amy, you know I'm not someone who lets other people's secrets out, right?"
"I understand. Please don't tell anyone about this."
"So, what Jennie said back then was true, that you were in a relationship with Mr. Henry?"
"Yes, that's true. Henry and I have been dating for almost four months."
"Why did you keep such big news a secret, Amy?" Ze looked annoyed, his face pouting, thinking that he was the only one who hadn't been told, while Regina and Jennifer had already found out.
"It's not like that. I actually didn't have any plans to tell them either. But Henry called me while I was having coffee with Regi and Jennie, and they found out then."
"Tch, you cheater! Amy, I thought we were friends!" Ze pouted even more, making his face even more adorable.
"I'm sorry! I just didn't want everyone in the office to know. Especially Barbara and her friends."
