Chapter 63 Red Roses
Chapter 63 Red Roses
Jake helped me dry my hair. I didn't understand why he was so kind and attentive every time we finished having sex. This attitude of his actually made me feel worried.
"Thanks, Jake!"
"Hmm?"
"You've been really nice to me lately. I thank you for that."
"Henry will be here any minute. You can't possibly meet him in a mess and unshowered?" He said. I held back a laugh, it was so funny to hear him say that. It was like he was my personal servant, always wanting to make sure I looked my best.
"Should I tell him now?"
"Say what?"
"That I want to end our relationship," I said. Jake didn't answer me right away. For some reason, he didn't seem too happy about my decision.
"Are you really sure about that?" Jake asked. His question made me doubt my decision.
Am I really sure about breaking up with Henry? Am I ready to lose his attention?
"Oh shit, why am I hesitating again now?" I thought. It's true that I don't have a strong reason to break up with Henry other than what he and Jake did behind my back. But considering that my actions were far worse, wouldn't we be considered even?
"Why are you silent? Are you starting to doubt yourself?"
"It's because you keep asking questions as if you're deliberately making me doubt myself."
"So what? Do you really want to break up with him?"
"I'm not sure. I'm not the kind of person who would leave someone who's been nice to me, and so far Henry hasn't done anything wrong that would make me want to leave him."
"Is that so?"
"You know what, Jake? I'm just a little girl who doesn't know her way home. I'm lost, and it won't be hard for me to get back home," I said. Jake looked at me with a look that seemed to indicate he didn't understand what I was saying.
"What are you saying?"
"No, nothing! When you were little, you probably got lost too, right?"
"Lost?"
"Yeah, lost in a strange place, and you try to get the attention of someone older than you, hoping they'll take you home. But in the end, you realize you can't trust anyone but yourself."
My chest ached and tightened every time I recalled the memories of getting lost, the pain making me nauseous and wanting to vomit.
"I have," Jake said. I turned to him only to see his sad face.
"Where? Were you lost in a playground or in the mountains? Or-"
"I don't know, I can't remember, but it felt like home. A house I thought would be a safe place, but it turned out-"
"You got lost in that house?"
"Yes, I got lost in that house."
"The house must be so big and spacious that you couldn't find the exit, right?" I said. Unconsciously, my hand touched Jake's face. His face looked sad, as if hiding a dark cloud.
Tin...tin...
My apartment doorbell rang, breaking the quiet and calm atmosphere that had been filling the place. I pulled my hand away from Jake's face, which seemed comfortable with my touch.
"Maybe it's Henry," he said.
"Yes, I'll open the door—"
"No, I'll do it! He knows you still have a fever. Wait on the couch!"
"O-okay." I agreed to Jake's suggestion to stay in the living room and sit on the couch, while Jake opened the door and greeted Henry.
Less than five minutes later, Jake walked with Henry into the living room. Henry was carrying a bouquet of red roses, and when our eyes met, my heart melted at the warm gleam in his eyes.
"My dear, how are you?" Henry immediately approached me and hugged me before I even reacted because I was still mesmerized by his sharp and enchanting blue eyes.
I accepted his hug, the scent of his perfume so strong, as if we hadn't seen each other in ages, even though we'd been making out in his office the night before. But the awkwardness I'd felt last night prevented me from enjoying anything.
"I'm better, honey."
"For you, my most beautiful woman!" He said, handing me the bouquet of red roses.
"Thank you, honey. Such beautiful flowers."
"Do you like them?"
"Of course," I said, smiling as the scent of red roses filled my senses.
Jake walked toward the kitchen, and his movement immediately caught Henry's attention.
"Where are you going, Jake?"
"I'll make you a drink. You can relax."
"You seem familiar with this house, aren't you? Did you stay here last night?" Henry smiled, as if teasing Jake. But Jake didn't budge.
"I'm sure I told you already," Jake said, his expression and tone turning cold.
"Haha...I was just kidding, why are you so quick to anger? Thank you for taking such good care of my sick wife-to-be. I owe you one, Jake."
Jake didn't react and walked back to the kitchen. Watching their interaction made me imagine them having sex. I still couldn't believe it.
"Hahaha... he's very attractive, isn't he, my dear?"
"What?"
"Jake, he's very attractive, isn't he? I'm sure you think so too, right?"
"I-I don't-"
"You can have him too if you want. We can both enjoy his body together; it would be fun if the three of us played bondage. You and I could be king and queen, and Jake would be our slave."
