Chapter 60 Confession
Chapter 60 Confession
Jake and I made out, even though I wasn't sure I could do it in this situation. Especially since I was still uneasy after he confessed that he and Henry had sex yesterday.
Jake's hands became increasingly naughty, roaming my body, his lips caressing every surface of my skin. My body subconsciously resisted the stimulation he was giving me. Jake noticed and immediately stopped.
"I'm sorry, I forced you to do it when you weren't feeling well. I'm so sorry!"
"That's not it...!" I blurted out. I wanted him to know that I wasn't rejecting him because of that. But because of what he had done to Henry. My heart couldn't take it.
"Hmm?"
"That's not it! I—" My voice trembled. Without realizing it, I was on the verge of tears. Strange, was I jealous? But who was I jealous of?
Jake looked at me with a cold, sad gaze, the way he looked at me made me feel guilty. But I was sure we could do it now, under these circumstances? When my feelings were still so chaotic?
"Are you angry?"
"Jake, I-"
"You must be deeply hurt by my confession, right?"
"I don't know, I'm just confused."
"I understand, you love Henry, that's why you're so angry about his betrayal. But did he really betray you? Or was he just trying to follow his heart, like you did!"
"What do you mean?"
"You know what, Amy? In the end, we all choose to follow our instincts and our hearts rather than cling to loyalty. You were the same, weren't you? You chose to follow your instincts and have sex with those men, letting them fuck you together, rather than clinging to your loyalty to Henry," Jake said. I was at a loss for words. He was right, I was the one who started it first. Choosing to follow my heart rather than cling to Henry. I got too carried away because I thought I had no moral obligation, since Henry was the one who started all this craziness. It made me think it would be okay if I did it with other men too.
"You're right, Jake! You're right! I don't think I can continue this relationship anymore. I think I should ask Henry to end our relationship!"
"Are you going to do that?"
"Yeah, I don't think I can go on anymore," I said, my voice trembling. I knew I wasn't entirely sure about my decision. Henry was the man who helped me get over my trauma over Caleb's death and my biggest trauma with men. But the complicated relationship between the three of us made me unsure whether Henry and I could truly have a love story that worked out.
"Okay, if you're really sure about it, I guess if you tell Henry about your decision, I won't stop you."
"Can we still be friends?"
"Why do you want to be friends with me?"
"I don't know, I just don't think you're a bad person."
"What if your feelings are wrong?"
"Whether you're right or wrong, I've held on to my faith in you, and I'll trust you until the end."
I opened my eyes, staring at the ceiling of a room that felt incredibly quiet. I don't know how long I've gotten used to this silence. Ever since I met Caleb and moved out of the house I shared with my mother, Caleb had become my only home, a place I could come home to and vent my frustrations.
My relationship with my mother had become very strained since Caleb's arrival. She considered him a nuisance, a man she deemed not wealthy enough to be my boyfriend. At the time, Caleb had just graduated from university and was spending his vacation in Bali, settling there and working at a nightclub as a bartender, mixing drinks. After meeting me, he decided to stay. But when he returned to his hometown, it would be the last time I saw him.
I felt a warm hand grip my arm. Turning to the side, I saw Jacob sleeping, holding my hand tightly.
I just realized there was a damp towel placed on my forehead. Did my fever get higher last night? I don't remember anything except the uncomfortable shivering all over my body.
"Jake?" I said in a slightly hoarse voice.
Hearing my voice and feeling my hand move, Jake woke up. He looked exhausted from taking care of me all night.
"Are you awake?"
"Are you still here? Are you okay?"
"I already called Henry to ask if I could be late today because your temperature reached 39 degrees Celsius last night. I couldn't leave you alone."
"You must be so tired, I'm sorry I've bothered you!"
"It's okay, don't worry about it! Henry asked me to take time off work today so I could stay with you until he gets back. He's very worried and has been calling me repeatedly just to check on you."
"Is he worried about me?"
"I think he really loves and cares about you."
"I don't know, I used to think the same way."
"He's coming over this afternoon to check on you. I think he wants to spend some time alone with you."
"Are you going home?"
"Yes, after he gets here!"
"But you don't have to go home? You can rest here. I have some of Henry's casual clothes you can wear. I want you to stay!" I pleaded hopefully.
"Why do you want me to stay?" Jake looked at me with a soft look in his eyes, a look I couldn't ignore.
"I want you by my side, at least during times like this."
