CHAPTER 20

AVA CLARKE

Lucius told me that his family holds this kind of ball every year, so I think Damien knows how to dance like his brother. However, I would prefer Lucius teaching me right now. Damien is an annoying man, and I'm trying to focus on everything he's telling me. He keeps explaining every dance step and what I should do, and I nod my head and roll my eyes when he tells me for the tenth time not to step on his foot.

"Do you understand everything? Don't step on my foot, little mouse.", he says, and I sigh, seeing a smirk on his lips.

"I'm not stupid, Damien. Can we start the lessons, please?", I say, watching him walk to the sound system, and seconds later, a slow song begins playing throughout the living room.

I turn my head to see Elara coming down the stairs and sitting on the sofa to watch us. I've never danced like this before, and I'm sure I won't be able to learn everything as quickly as Lucius believes.

Furthermore, I thought he would be my dance teacher, and I was excited about that idea. Still, he told me he doesn't have time because he needs to organize every detail of the ball, and I understand that.

I also realize that this ball is a very special party for this family, and everyone seems excited, but I can't see that excitement in Damien's eyes.

The man with white hair comes back and stands in front of me, ready to touch my hand, but I furrow my brow when I see that he's wearing gloves.

Hand gloves.

"Why are you wearing gloves now? The weather is hot today.", I say, pointing to his hands and noticing a pair of white gloves that seem to be made of silk.

"It doesn't matter, just be quiet and dance with me!", I make an annoyed expression as his hand touches mine, and I feel my body tremble slightly when his other hand touches my waist.

I've never been this close to him, and I can feel nervousness taking over my body as the music continues to play around us. His hand tightens on my waist, and I discreetly sigh, staring fixedly into his green eyes.

Damn.

I need to control myself, and I blink rapidly when I realize I'm looking at Damien's mouth, and then my mind travels to that crazy dream again.

Jesus.

I shake my head, trying to distance myself from him, but Damien's hands keep holding me, preventing me from giving up on our dance lesson.

"I think this won't work, and...", I say, but he interrupts me quickly.

"I should be doing more important things, but I'm here trying to teach you something because my brother asked me to, and I know how important this ball is to him, so stop talking and dance with me.", he says, pressing our bodies closer, and I take a deep breath before nodding.

I put one of my hands on Damien's shoulder before holding his hand, feeling the silk glove against my skin, preventing me from feeling the warmth of his skin.

I lift my head, seeing that Damien's green eyes seem more intense now. Furthermore, I furrow my brow when he starts moving our bodies to the rhythm of the music.

"Damien...", I call his name as if I were completely hypnotized at this moment.

"Just keep looking into my eyes.", he whispers, and I manage to control myself from looking at his lips again.

The living room of the imposing mansion is illuminated by a soft golden light that highlights the sparkle in my eyes. Damien holds my hand firmly, guiding me gently through the first steps of a dance that seems to have come out of a period tale.

Initially awkward, I followed Damien's movements attentively. My feet, still uncertain, begin to move in harmony with the melody. Damien, sensing my hesitation, smiles with a funny expression, and at that moment, I also allow a smile to grow on my lips.

With each step, he gracefully guides me, turning my inexperience into a delicate dance, and I never thought an irritating person like him could do this.

We twirled around the room, gliding smoothly over the polished floor. I feel the lightness of the music invade my being, dispelling the initial nervousness. Damien's firm touch conveys security, and I allow myself to dive into the magic of the dance.

With precise movements, Damien leads me through a series of elaborate steps. We approach and retreat in perfect synchrony, as if we were telling a story through our movements. With each spin, I feel more confident, allowing my movements to flow more naturally.

"Perfect.", he whispers as I spin again while still holding his hand.

When I feel his body against mine again, I allow myself to close my eyes and savor the unique sensations of this moment. With my eyes closed, I imagine myself at this ball, wearing a long dress and dancing like a princess.

I smile more, opening my eyes and seeing that Damien continues to scrutinize me. However, he's not smiling or making jokes about me; he just keeps dancing with me and looking at me at the same time.

The atmosphere in the room is charged with electricity, and I realize that something beyond the dance is happening. I gaze into Damien's deep eyes as we dance, and a gentle warmth spreads throughout my body. The nervousness that once consumed me gives way to a growing excitement.

The music reaches a climax, and Damien guides me into a bolder spin. Our bodies come closer, creating an intimacy that seems inevitable. Now engulfed by the energy of the dance, I'm drawn to the intensity of Damien's gaze.

In a moment of pure harmony, Damien leads me into a slower step, almost like a pause in the dance. Our faces are close, and my heart beats irregularly inside my chest as the desire for a kiss begins to overpower me.

I really don't understand what he and Lucius have that makes me feel this way. It's as if I'm completely enchanted by their beauties, and I don't understand it.

Lucius and Damien are the most beautiful men I've ever seen in my entire life.

Today is just a dance lesson, and Damien is wearing a black leather jacket and jeans, and I realize that he is completely different from Lucius in many aspects.

Damien, sensing the tension in the air, smiles gently, as if he reads my thoughts. He delicately guides me into a final movement, and the dance reaches its climax.

On the last chord, Damien holds me in his arms, and I can feel the strength and security he offers.

I look into Damien's eyes, the closeness between us creates palpable tension. The room falls silent for a moment, and the world around us disappears as I contemplate the possibility of a kiss.

Lost at the moment, I smile shyly. The dance, aside from transforming my ability, has created a special connection between Damien and me.
