Chapter 212 Leading Across
Olivia was so embarrassed that even her ears turned red. She hurriedly refused, saying, "No... no need, let's leave it at that. Bye, Mr. Hamilton."
She was afraid that if she waited any longer, Bianca would say something even more outrageous, so without waiting for a response, she immediately hung up the video call.
As she put away her phone, Evelyn was laughing hysterically beside her, hugging Bianca and petting her enthusiastically. "Hahaha, Bianca, you're so adorable!"
Bianca didn't understand what was going on, but seeing Evelyn laughing so happily, she laughed along too.
Olivia felt an even bigger headache coming on.
Ever since Bianca got sick, she had been taking advantage of Andrew without any regard for Olivia's feelings, making her feel utterly mortified too.
How was she supposed to face Andrew after this!
Bianca was completely unaware that she'd done anything wrong, but at least she could finally sleep peacefully now.
On the other end, as Andrew put away his phone, his mind was still replaying that last moment before hanging up—Olivia's face flushed red, looking like she wanted to crawl into a hole.
A hint of amusement flashed through his eyes.
Just then, David came in, his expression somewhat serious as he called out, "Mr. Hamilton."
Seeing his expression, Andrew knew there must be something to report. He immediately put away his smile and asked, "What is it? Tell me!"
David didn't beat around the bush and reported directly, "It's feedback from our people investigating the White family in Harmony City, about some progress regarding what happened to the White family back then."
Andrew's eyes paused slightly. "As I suspected?"
David took a deep breath and nodded. "Back then, Mr. White and Mrs. White's marriage wasn't stolen by her. On the contrary, it was Mr. White who forced her to get pregnant."
Benjamin's mother was named Lilly Moore. In her youth, she was a famous beauty in Harmony City, born into a declining literary family.
"Mrs. White originally had a boyfriend. They were very much in love and were planning to get married. Because of Mr. White's dirty tricks and pressure, they had to break up. After she got pregnant, Mrs. White probably married into the White family for the sake of her family's reputation. After marriage, she was naturally depressed and unhappy, which angered Mr. White, so during her pregnancy, he kept having affairs and got involved with his current wife. You know what happened after that. After Mrs. White died, people started smearing her reputation, saying she stole someone else's love, tried to harm the current wife, and eventually fell into the river and died."
David grew more and more angry as he spoke.
He never imagined the truth would be like this.
Lyndon White was truly a monster in human form!
He continued, "Back then, Mrs. White's death was sealed and buried by the White family, and the truth couldn't be known. But I discovered one thing—after that incident, all the White family's servants were dismissed and replaced with a new batch. Combined with what happened before their marriage, I suspect this was actually a murder, and Mrs. White's death probably has hidden details!"
After hearing David's report, Andrew frowned deeply.
Although he had suspected this all along, he didn't expect the situation to be even worse than he imagined!
David also had a good relationship with Benjamin, and his expression showed some indignation. "The White family's methods are really dirty—twisting right and wrong. And after she died, they spread rumors that made all of Harmony City believe it was Mrs. White's fault! Even Mr. Benjamin White became a victim of this whole thing! It's absolutely unforgivable!"
Over the years, Benjamin and Lilly had endured all kinds of slander, while the White family watched with peace of mind.
Andrew's expression turned cold. "No wonder Benjamin's grandpa has always wanted Benjamin to go back and inherit the family business. He probably knows some inside information too and feels guilty, wanting to make amends."
David frowned, his eyes showing disdain. "But in the end, he's still protecting his own son. Can inheriting the family business really compensate for everything Mr. Benjamin White has suffered all these years?!"
Andrew didn't answer.
Of course, such things couldn't compensate.
His friend, out of guilt and to atone for his mother, voluntarily gave up his inheritance rights to the White family, even left Harmony City to hide in Emerald City, becoming a harmless psychology teacher and putting aside all his ambitions.
Who would have thought he and his mother were the real victims?
David figured this out himself too.
But he still had one question. "Mr. Hamilton, why do you think Mr. Alphonse White dares to let Mr. Benjamin White come back when he knows the inside story? Isn't he afraid that if the truth comes out in the future, Mr. Benjamin White will seek revenge on his father?"
Andrew sneered coldly. "That's exactly what makes him clever. Putting someone in that position will make Benjamin have concerns. If Benjamin really takes that position, with so many people under the White Group, he'll be under pressure and can't just ignore everything. You think he's guilty and kind? But businessmen are still businessmen. Even in old age, they still calculate. Mrs. White had no background. To them, her death was just one life—how could it be more important than the White family's honor and disgrace?"
After hearing this, David couldn't help but feel disgusted with the White family. "In this whole family, except for Mr. Benjamin White, they're all evil people."
He really felt it was unfair to Benjamin and Lilly!
David then asked, "So what should we do about this? Should we tell Mr. Benjamin White?"
Just thinking about how he would react to learning the truth, David didn't dare imagine.
Andrew's eyes turned cold as he instructed David, "Continue investigating Mrs. White's death. Since we already know something's fishy, we naturally need to find evidence! As for Benjamin, I'll find the right time to tell him the truth. The White family wronged him, and they must pay for what they did back then."
By the end, Andrew's eyes were ice-cold.
David understood that Andrew would never allow his good friend to suffer losses.
So he immediately nodded and replied, "Alright, I'll have people continue the investigation right away!"
David soon left.
...
The next day was Monday.
After breakfast, Olivia sent Bianca to school.
Bianca seemed no different from before, but Olivia was still somewhat worried.
She felt that Bianca's current condition wasn't stable, so after dropping her off at school, Olivia gave Benjamin a detailed account of the situation. "Her condition relapsed a few days ago. I don't know if there will be any other problems later. Mr. White, I hope you can help keep an eye on her. If Bianca shows any signs of being off, please contact me as soon as possible."
She was still uneasy.
But as Andrew had told her before, Bianca needed to go out and socialize, to interact more with other children. If she stayed at home all the time, it wouldn't be good for her condition.
After much hesitation today, Olivia still sent her to school.
However, Olivia ultimately didn't mention the matter of Bianca calling Andrew "daddy."
It was just too hard to talk about, too embarrassing.
Benjamin understood her feelings and immediately reassured her, "Dr. Garcia, don't worry, I'll keep an eye on Bianca."
After Olivia left, Benjamin's relaxed expression became more serious.
Out of concern for Bianca and to better guide the child's psychological state, Benjamin didn't hesitate long before calling his good friend directly. "You handled it yourself, so how come Bianca's condition didn't improve but relapsed instead? That's not scientific, and it shouldn't happen!"
Facing his friend's questioning, Andrew on the other end said calmly, "I didn't expect to run into her father at the art exhibition either, or that it would stimulate her and cause an emotional transfer deviation."
Benjamin didn't quite understand. "What's emotional transfer?"
Andrew gave a brief explanation.
Benjamin was shocked. "Well, that's really unexpected."
He found it amusing and couldn't help teasing, "How does it feel to be called daddy? Who would have thought—you're still unmarried, probably never even held a girl's hand, and suddenly you have a child this big."
Facing his friend's teasing, Andrew didn't get angry but coldly corrected him, "I have..."
Then he hung up.
Leaving Benjamin staring at his phone with wide eyes.
What did Andrew mean by "I have"?
With whom?
It couldn't be Olivia, could it?
He felt his suspicion was correct.
The only girl around Andrew seemed to be Olivia.
Benjamin called Andrew again, wanting to confirm, but no matter how many times he called, Andrew didn't answer.
Helplessly, he had to give up on this gossip.
That evening, Michael showed up at the school gate with a painting.
When Benjamin heard the security guard's report, he felt something was wrong.
He'd just caused Bianca's relapse over the weekend—how did he have the nerve to come looking for her again?
Benjamin frowned and immediately called Olivia to notify her.
When Olivia heard that Michael had come looking for Bianca again, her anger was almost uncontrollable.
Would this never end?
Furious, she instructed Benjamin, "Don't let him see her. Don't bring Bianca out yet. I'm coming over right now!"
"Okay." Benjamin also supported Olivia's decision. After hanging up, he had the security guard continue watching.
Olivia arrived quickly.
Seeing Michael's figure from afar, her anger burned.
However, it was dismissal time and there were too many people at the school gate, so she couldn't make a scene.
She could only walk forward with a grim expression and say through gritted teeth, "Michael, we need to talk!"
Seeing her appear, Michael's face also showed coldness.
He asked, "Talk about what? Planning to stop me from seeing Bianca again?"
His tone was mocking. "Let me tell you, Olivia, I don't care what men you're involved with, but my daughter is my daughter. Don't even think about having her call someone else father! If you insist on doing this, I don't mind taking you to court and fighting for custody again!"
