Chapter 32 We shall reclaim what’s ours
Felipe's POV.
I finally tore my eyes open. I blinked as I adjusted my pupils to the radiant of the hot sun seeping in through the curtains.
As I opened my eyes groggily, the first figure I saw in front of me was my Beta, standing tall, focused and bothered.
“ Where am I?” As I called out, he rushed up to me and crouched down to me.
“ You collapsed immediately, you rejected Sarah as your mate,” He said and skipped with a blush. “ Her rejection spiked something inside of you.”
My brows blinked. What was he saying?
As I squinted my eyes and curved my lips sideways, he added. “ Your wolf sparkled. Your eyes were red. You eventually shifted into your wolf for the very first time ever since you sold your mate out.”
I lifted my head off the pillow and sat up. I grunted in pain in which he helped me hold my ribs at both ends.
“ You mean, I shifted?” I asked and he smiled, nodding his head downward, but I could sense a little frustration layering between his smile.
“ Yes, Alpha. You did. But..” he paused and swallowed. “ Sarah has taken away the treasure of the pack and today is the day the elders have given to you to provide a male pup!”
My heart skipped a beat as he said and I ran my hand through my hair, frustrated.
“ You mean, I have been asleep for days?” I inquired.
“ Yes, Alpha. You've been dead for two weeks. I doubted if you were going to make it. I spend every second praying to the Moon goddess for a second chance at life for you.”
I smiled and wrapped my hand around his chest. “You've been the most supportive soul in my life. Thank you and if anything happens, you'll be the next Alpha.”
His eyes lit up. “No, Felipe. It's forbidden. My bloodline can only be the beta, the Moon goddess would frown at your actions. Nothing negative would happen. We would fight this fight together and win and I will always be by your side to fight against the enemy.”
He assured me and I could see the determination plastered on his face.
Four elders walked into the hospital room where I was laid.
“Welcome back to life, Alpha Felipe!” One of the elders greeted and the rest greeted too in unison.
“ Thank you, elders!” I rasped and made a gesture for my beta to excuse us. As soon as he left, one of the elders leaned in closer.
“The pack has been in chaos for the past two weeks of you being unconscious. Young ones are crying for the death of their old ones. Families are broken because of that traitor you've chosen as your Luna.”
I heaved a deep sigh and from nowhere anger surged through my veins. “Go straight to the point. I'm not perfect. People make mistakes and learn from it. Why are you here?”
The other one stepped forward, stiffening his hands. “This is way more than just mistakes, Alpha. Lives are gone and you just say a mistake?”
“ The young ones who lost the lives of their old ones are hungry, poor, and weak. They need to be encouraged and rejuvenated.” Another one chimed in with a hoarse voice.
“ Elders, I'll see what I can do about it!” I said in a single tone.
“ Good, Alpha. Today is the deal day. We have given you enough time to bear us a male pup and you haven't still been able to meet up with that. We have made up our mind to call for the next one, the Alpha line, your brother Dax.”
My eyes grew wide. His statement was like a big blow to my heart. “What do you mean by that?”
“ That's the Truth, Alpha. That's the pack tradition and we can't turn our backs against it.”
“ No problem! Call Dax! And if I'm able to get a male pup my position stands, right?” I inquired and they all agreed.
“We will be waiting for your feedback, Alpha! Quick recovery” They said and left the hospital room.
My Beta rushed into the room with his head down. He looked so tense and confused.
“ Dax! That motherfucking bastard! The pack will be in trouble if he becomes the Alpha. He will plant evil in the hearts of the pack members and rule with iron fists!”
“If we don't go and get my son from the Lycan king I'll be dethroned as the Alpha of this pack. What do you suggest I do?” I faced my beta and inquired. His face lit up.
“We don't have a choice here, Alpha. We must do that and stop Dax from becoming the next Alpha.” He said and leaned closer. “I'll do whatever it takes. I'll support you.” He landed and I started to get emotional.
“ Thanks for all you do, Beta!” I said and held his hand.
“ Yes, Alpha. Anything for you!”
“ Tomorrow morning, we will storm the Lycan world to reclaim what's ours!”
