Chapter 31 The wise one

Chapter 31 The wise one
I explained everything to the wise one and he shook his head.

“ Xander used to be smart and calculative. Wonder what voodoo the little girl used on him.” The wise one hummed.

“ Yes, the wise one. It's obvious that if Xander knows that he is going to protect her, the race of the Lycans would be tampered by the humans and destroyed forever.”

The wise one sat down, calculative and bold. “ I will see what I can do about it! But then, keep it a secret from the Lycan king. We will join hands with you to apprehend the girl.”

“ Thank you, the wise one!” I said and smiled.

“ My regards to Amara. I have missed her so much. Keep the artifact safe. The Moon blesses you.” He placed his hand on my shoulder. I felt a jolt of courage and determination coursing through my veins. His hands were strong like those ones that have fought wars many times and defeated.

I took a deep breath and I was escorted out of the mansion. The bikers were all tense the moment I got out of the woods.

“ Coder, we have run late. Others would be 30 minutes ahead of us back to the pack in three hours time. We must beat the watch.” One of the bikers said and I jumped on the bike immediately.

The journey back to the pack was cold and dusty. But it was nothing compared to the determination lingering in my mind.

As we set back on the lane of the pack, the bikers were already zooming into the pack and there were about six bikers remaining to close the entry. We sped up so fast and entered at the same time as the last biker.

I exhaled in relief and removed the helmet. I headed straight to Amara's room. She was sleeping on the bed and my kids were surrounding her. She cupped them together with her hands, like they were her biological kids as they slept. The room was cold and the sound of snores blared through the room.

I stood there and smiled at what I saw. Determination crept through my veins again and I made up my mind that no matter what I was going to make these people live happily again.

I closed the door quietly so that no one could hear me and left, back to the computer room. I entered and brought out the chip that was given to me by the wise one. I inserted the chip into the computer and registered their signal on my laptop.

I went to the bed and let sleep take me in.

“ Alliances with rogue Lycans are forbidden, Coder. It will upset the Lycan king,” Alexander blew hot as he stood up.

“ What do you mean by that, Alexander? If it means rescuing the Lycans from the humans then what's wrong with the Lycans coming together to fight the battle together?” I reprimanded, but he frowned.

“ I'm the Beta here. I know what's right. You're just a desperate coder looking for freedom. Our ego is on the line here!” He insisted and frowned at me.

“ Look here, Alexander,” I started and dropped my hands on him but he pulled me away. “See, it also involves the Lycans. The humans won't mind if a Lycan is a rogue or a pack member before they dominate the Lycans.”

“ I said the Lycan king doesn't need an alliance with a rogue Lycan. Period!” He said and turned to the other side of his bed. I heaved a deep sigh and curled my fingers in confusion. I had thought he would support me but he did not.

I stood up from his bed and left to the Lycan king’s table to report the information I gathered so far.

“ Here, Sir,” I said and handed the document over to him. He collected it and took a deep breath.

“ What's all these for?” He questioned, our eyes locked.

“ The pack was attacked by a set of rogue wolves during the pack run and it's traceable to no pack. However, the sacred data of the pack has been sold out by someone close to the pack or maybe you.” I decided to say and looked away.

“ Are you trying to hide your incompetence?” He blew out at me.  I stook a step away from him.

He moved closer to me until I hit my back to the wall and he locked me in there. He tucked my chin up with his fingers and I took my lips away from him, frowning. He let go of me then added. “You'll follow me to the Lycan meetings in the night to say with your mouth what's stopping the humans from attacking us.”

I left the place and went back to my room.

“ Mummy!” Pius approached me and I hugged him so tightly. “ Our teacher said I should come with my father. Mummy, where's daddy?”

My heart seemed stabbed by his words. It shows he was now missing his father. Barbie did not ask me much of her father's whereabouts because she was there when he threw us out like garbage for cheap prices. But Pius was still very little and couldn't recognize wrong from bad, even if I told him about how careless and scoundrel his father was he wouldn't still believe.

“ Tell them daddy is dead!” I said in a single tone and his little eyes drifted into mine. Something inside of him must have told him instantly it wasn't true but I didn't care.

“ Dad is dead?” He inquired with a softer and calmer tone this time.

“ Yes!” I said, closing in any chances of him to further any conversations.

He heaved a deep sigh and stood up on his feet, staggering to his room. I watched as the door slammed.

I rested further into my chair and picked up my glasses. I have made up my mind to finish this once and for all.  I sat on my computer and started checking for new details of the human server and a clue seeped into my head.
