Chapter 28 The Lycan king alliances

Chapter 28 The Lycan king alliances
Dax’s POV.

Following the death of my parents, I decided to meet the Lycan king in a closed door meeting concerning the election.

In my pack I was known as Dax but here I was the masked rogue. I bounced into the pack of the Lycan king, without bowing. Not because I did not understand royal submission, but rather because I refused to kneel.

His palace wasn't as bad as I thought. It grew from black stone at the far end of the pack, decorated with old runes. I have heard many rumors about him……fierce, powerful and ruthless.

But that was his own cup of tea. I don't give a fuck about whatever he is.

His pack smelled blood and rust iron. His warriors froze by the door, their confidence pressing against my ribs.

His eyes glared at me like a monster watching its prey. It cut through the air like a blade.

“Dax of the Crescent Moon Pack,” His voice pierced through my heart. “ what is your presence for?”

“I need your alliance, king of the beasts,” I rasped instead.

The lycans gave a startled wow and locked gazes on me. Their eyes flickered faintly like a wave of thunder bored into mine.

War was exactly why I was here.

“My father is dead,” I purred “The Alpha seat will be contested between my brother and me.”

“So why are you here? The seat should belong to whosoever deserves it.” He advised.

“My brother does not deserve the Alpha table. He's the golden son of our parents, the coward my parents called the obedient heir.”

He furrowed his brows and leaned back slightly. “And you believe I should involve my kingdom in a family dispute?”

“It is not whatever you call it,” I said. “It is a war”

Silence stretched like a length of time.

I took a few steps forward despite the warning growls that rose around me.

“If my brother wins the Alpha position, Crescent Moon will fall. He is fragile. He is breakable, even by the weakest girl.” I bled the word. “You and I both know how dangerous that could be.”

“What do I stand to get in return?” His voice barked.

I straightened, my eyes bore into his.

“I offer the crescent Moon as your shield at the northern border. I will fortify the lycan territory. And joined the rogue to crush any human movement before it reaches your lands. My armies are fierce dangerous. And I will swear fealty.”

I knew that was a dangerous promise, but I didn't mind anyway. Of course, power is taking by those willing to bleed for it, not cowards.

“And in return?” His voice thickened.

“You will choose me as your preferred Alpha. You're the Lycan king and your decision will silence half the opposition.…” I let my voice drop. “…I will handle the rest from my end”

The Lycan king skimmed through me like a prey, our eyes still locking. “You are ambitious and ruthless.”

I shrugged my shoulders and flipped my head. “ Well, well, well, if you say so, Lycan king.”

Then his eyes bellowed over me, his teeth gritted as though my confidence scared him. “And you believe that makes you fit to lead.”

“ Of course, yes, Lycan. That's makes me prepared for what is to come. As an alpha you are ought to be ruthless. Ever wondered why I have a bit of respect for you?”

A flicker of anger passed through his eyes and suddenly drifted back to nostalgic expressions.

“Your brother,” he spoke slowly. “Is he truly incapable? Or are you simply unwilling to share?”

My jaw dropped. “He is breakable.”

“And you?” His eyes glowed faintly now. “What are you?”

I looked straight into his eyes, carrying a pang of dominance and power. “I am unbreakable. I'm strong.”

The whole place became silent like a graveyard.

He fidgeted his eyes on me and I could feel the beasts inside of him roaring, daring to loose grip.

His silence alone changed the air in the room. Power eroded from him like heat from flame. He descended the steps until he stood only a few feet away.

Up close, he was even more imposing. Ancient strength coiled through his skin.

He circled me once.

“You carry anger like a second spine,” he murmured. “It holds you upright.”

I did not say anything. I just sniffed in the air of power and pride he held. And of course, I was ready for anything he throw at me. If he wanted fight I would be so glad to give it to him.

“You hate your brother so much. How can you lead the wolf territory with such a wicked motive? Don't you know when your strength, your family would be the one to bring you up?”

“I despise incompetence, Lycan king. I still have about three sisters those who doesn't care if the pack exists or not. I have no family. I'm all by myself and I conquer any clan of my choices.”

He paused and leaned closer to me as though he wanted to sniff a part of me.

“And your father?”

Something inside me gripped tighter that it almost tear me into pieces.

“My father chose him. He chose weakness.”

The King stopped in front of me.

“No,” he said softly. “Your father chose differently.”

My pulse blared in my ears as he probed around me.

“I will help you,” he finally said.

Relief flickered through me, but I did not show it.

“You will swear your loyalty in blood,” he continued. “You will serve this kingdom faithfully. If you betray us, there will be nowhere in this world you can run that I cannot reach.”

A flicker of smile layered my face.

Because I had no intention of betraying him. Not then.

“I accept.”

A ceremonial blade was brought forward. It sparkled like the Moon in the sky and heavy at hand.

I cut my palm without hesitation and let the blood drip onto the sculpted sigil at the center of the place.

The King did the same. The air drifted and the deal was sealed.
