William's POV:
I quickly grabbed Rebecca when she lost consciousness. It pained me whenever these bad memories haunted her. That was why I wanted her to quickly leave so that she would not watch them punish that man.
But I didn't expect that she would turn her head and watch, bringing her back to the awful memories. There were times she would go through blackouts for hours and hide in her room for days. She lost so much weight, which scared me because I did not want her to lose herself.
I carried her up to the living room and placed her on the sofa. Then, I mind-linked Rose to tell her that Rebecca had fainted again and to get a towel for her. Within seconds, Rose appeared in front of me and held a towel and cold water in her hands.
Rose quickly wiped Rebecca's forehead as she was perspiring with cold sweat. She looked worried and said, "I think we need her doctor to check up on her again. I am scared that she will go out for a few days."
I sighed. "Okay, I will get Ryan to call her to check up on her as soon as possible."
Rose nodded her head in response and went back to clean Rebecca's forehead while I mind-linked Ryan.
I said to him, "Ryan, get Rebecca's doctor here immediately. Rebecca fainted again, and she has cold sweats."
He replied, "Yes, Alpha William."
Suddenly, someone said, "Oh my goodness, what happened to Belle?"
I looked in the direction of the voice, and it was Rebecca's mother. Beside her was her father. They rushed over and checked her. Tears were rolling down their cheeks.
Rebecca's father asked, "Why is she sweating so much and shaking?"
"She just remembers the bad things, and it all came back to her, so she blacked out. So I had my beta call her doctor to come here immediately," I said.
Her mother took out a cloth, wiped her cheeks, and said, "Does this happen to her all the time?"
Rose says, "It happens very regularly after what those people did to her. She has nightmares that she has to take sleeping pills for her to sleep properly. She also hides in her room without eating for days."
When her mother heard that, she patted Rebecca's head.
"My poor daughter, I am such a bad mother. I failed my duty to protect her. I am so sorry for what happened to you. Your dad and I really failed as your parents."
"I'm sorry, but her doctor is on the way here. I need to carry her to the room. You can check on her later after the doctor is done."
Her father said, "Okay, we will go to her room later to check up on her. Thank you and your sister for taking good care of my daughter over the years."
My sister and I nodded in response, and I slowly lifted Rebecca to carry her.
When I was carrying her, people from my pack and Alpha Blake's pack were looking at us, but I just ignored them and focused on my beautiful Rebecca. When we reached her room, I saw Alpha Blake leaning against the outside of her room door.
When he saw us, he said with a worried tone, "What happened to her?"
I said, "Ask her parents. They will give you the information. But, for now, please just do us a favor and leave her alone for the doctor to check up on her."
With that, I closed the door and placed Rebecca down on her bed.
My beta mind-linked me and said, "Her doctor is here."
"Send her up here now!" I exclaimed.
When her doctor came in, she said. "Has she been taking the medication that I prescribed for her?"
"Yes, I always make sure she takes it after her meals."
She smiles. "Okay, good. I think she just needs some rest. I will give her more medication to stabilize her condition. She will be up in a couple of hours and make sure that after she wakes up, she takes this medication immediately."
"Thank you, Doc. But may I ask what she has been telling you since her recent visit to your clinic?"
She sighed. "You two may want to sit down to listen."
Rose and I sat down on the chair. I gulped, worrying that she might tell us some bad news.
"I've noticed that there is a big fear hidden within her. She has been sharing with me some dreams that she has. She says something like her kidnapper is not dead yet."
"How can that be? I remember shooting her kidnapper in his back, and I have also burned the area down," I said.
"I am not sure, but she did say that he has been in her dreams for quite some time."
"No wonder she has been very tired lately," Rose said.
"I can prescribe her some sleeping pills if she needs them, but make sure she does not take too many, or she will have a drug overdose. And please inform her that I want to book an appointment with her again just in case," she said.
"Okay, sure. I will," I said.
I shook the doctor's hand, and my beta led her out. I looked at my beautiful angel sleeping, and even though she was not my mate, I would do anything to make her mine, even if it meant I had to die for her. I held her hands and made a small circle on her palm like I always did.
Suddenly, someone came into the room. It was my beta who announced, "We need you down at the prison. Something bad has happened."
Rose's POV:
William's mind-link telling me Rebecca fainted again made me feel scared and worried. The last time it happened, she almost tried to kill herself again.
Listening to what the doctor said about Rebecca's condition, it seemed as if she felt her dreams were real, and she was allowing them to consume her.
I felt guilty because I was the one who pulled her into this mess. I should not have run far away from my brother when we were playing. All this would not have happened if I had just let my brother catch me.
That was why I tried to make it up to Rebecca by doing things for her. I just hoped that all of this came to an end for her, so she would not have to suffer any more pain.
