Chapter 21

Chloe POV

Axel is making an official announcement this morning at the office that he is getting married. I am not going in today. I am not hiding, but I need to tell Cane that I am marrying Axel before someone else tells him. I want him to hear it from me and not Jessie or anyone else for that matter. This is my news to tell, and no one else is taking that from me. If he is upset, then I want to see it for myself and not be told about it second hand.

I can only imagine how he will feel about this. I told him I was not involved with Axel, which was not a lie at the time. I had no idea this was going to happen or that I would fall in love with Axel like this. Axel is good for me in so many ways.

I dress conservatively and kiss Axel goodbye before I leave. I enjoyed him staying over last night. We did not sleep much. After we left the club, I wanted him to stay with me and hold me all night. It was so much more than that. I am not entirely sure how I am able to walk this morning after he fucked me all night. I hope things stay like this for a long time. I want him to show me the wild side of life.

I take the sky walk over to the parking garage where my Audi is parked. There is always security watching and more now that Axel informed security that he is marrying me. Will I ever have a private moment again? Or is this the life of a Luna? I do feel protected, and that feeling means so much to me.

I get into my car, start it and wait for my phone to connect. I put in the navigation for the rehab facility that Axel put Cane in for his treatment. It is not far away. It will only take me about forty five minutes to get there. That gives me time to figure out how to tell him that I am marrying his boss. The one I said I was not interested in at all.

I put the car in reverse and make my way around to the exit. At the bottom of the parking garage, I see Jessie talking to Andrea. Hmmm, I wonder why she is here when she is no longer employed with the company.

I stop at the guard shack just outside the parking garage and inform Philip that Jessie is in there just in case, but I do not dwell on it. I need to get on my way to see Cane. I have a short amount of time to figure out precisely what I am going to say to him so he does not lose his mind.

The drive goes by way too fast as I am trying to short my wording out. Fuck it! No matter what I say, he will not be happy, and he will probably yell at me. At least I can leave, and he is stuck there.

I park my car at the Moonlight recovery center and start walking toward the door. I hear something behind me and turn to look, and it is Jessie. I stop and wait on her. "I am here to see Cane, and I guess you are also," I say.

She nods her head. "Yes, If I had known you were coming, I would have waited since you did cost me my job," Jessie says.

I look over her shoulder and see one of the wolf pack security officers. I am always under surveillance now since I am Axel's bride to be. I point to the security officer. "Well, if you want me to leave, then take it up with the Alpha," I say. I turn around and walk toward the door.

"I want to see him," Jessie yells at me.

"You can when I am done with him," I yell back at her without even turning around to look at her.

I walk into the glass door and to the little window to check in with reception. "Go through the door and to the first room on the left. I will let Cane know he has visitors waiting in the visiting hall," the receptionist says.

I smile. "One thing, there is a young woman here to see him, Jessie. She has to wait until I am done. I should only take a few minutes of my brother's time, and then his girlfriend can go in to see him," I say.

She nods her head. "Yes, Luna," the lady says. Hmmm, I could get used to all of this special privilege.

"Thank you," I say. The receptionist buzzes open the door, and I go in the back. I walk down to the visiting hall and wait for Cane. I hope he is calm and acting like himself. I have a terrible feeling he is not going to be clear headed.

I sit waiting for what seems like forever, then Cane walks into the visiting hall to see me. He does not smile or hug me, nothing he sits down in front of me.

"I was expecting Jessie to come today. Did you see her outside?" Cane asks.

"Yes, I asked her to wait until we are done. I need to talk to you privately," I say.

Cane shakes his head violently. "You bitch! How dare you? She is my visitor, and I want to see her, not you. Why do you think you are so much more important than everyone else? HUH?" Cane yells at me.

I keep my cool. I reach for his hand and smile, but he pulls away from me. "Cane, I need to tell you something, and it is important. I wanted to tell you and not someone else," I say, smiling and trying to seem like I care about him.

"Why? Why do you care how I feel about anything?" Cane says. He is getting more and more frustrated the longer we sit here having a stare down.

"I am getting married," I say. Cane's jaw drops.

"You and Jackson work it out, or did you jump right into bed with Axel?" Cane says sarcastically.

"I am marrying Axel very soon. I love him," I say.

Cane shakes his head. "You do not know what love it, Chloe. You are a stupid, selfish cunt!" Cane screams at me.

I sit in front of him, shocked. Cane turns all his anger and frustration toward me. "You got Jessie fired from her job, Chloe. I am going to make you pay for that. I hate you! I have always hated you! I have bailed you out so many times. You have the worst taste in men, and marrying Axel just proves it. Get out of my life," Cane says.

I get up from the chair I am sitting in and turn to him. "You have never bailed me out except this one time. I only asked for your help when Jackson tried to kill me," I snap at him.

I begin to walk away. Cane grabs my wrist. "I wish he would have killed you," Cane says.

I jerk away from him and walk out of the visiting hall. When I get to the receptionist desk, Jessie is having a screaming fit to see Cane. I walk past her without saying a word.

"Bitch!" she says to me. I start to turn around, but before I can, security pulls me to the side.

"This lady is banned from this property from now on," security says to the receptionist. Jessie is furious. Another security officer grabs her and pulls her to the other side of the room.

"I want to see Cane!" Jessie screams at the security officer.

"No, I am sorry. As soon as Luna is safe in her car, I will escort you to your car," the security officer says.

Security pulls me out of the building and walks me to my Audi. He puts me in my car. "Do not come back here to see that asshole," he says as he slams my door. He walks over to talk to pack security.

I can only imagine how upset Axel will be over all of this. He is going to hit the ceiling overall this commotion today. I was only trying to tell Cane what was going on in my life, but I guess I should not have gone. I was wrong.

I drive back to my apartment slowly. I am worried Axel will be upset with me. I pull into the parking garage and park in my spot. I start to cry when I cry a peck on my window. I look up to see Axel. I get out of the car and fall into his arms.

"Are you okay, my love?" Axel asks.

"Yes, I was afraid you would be mad at me," I say.

"No, I need to know you are okay," he says.

"Yes," I say. I forgot for a moment how sweet he is to me.

"Go home, rest. I am only working a half-day, and then you and I are going to start planning our wedding," Axel says, smiling. He lifts me off the ground and kisses me.
