Painful Memories

Painful Memories
Noah

Rebeca sighed deeply, gave me her hand, closed her eyes and gave me access to her childhood and youth memories. I could see everything she saw, feel what she felt, hear what people said to her and what she said. Everything was flashes, until one day, when she was 18, everything slowed down, and I watched her memories. She already liked fashion and luxury, unlike her mother who loved simplicity and working in the fields, she wanted to see the world, do something important, meet the king, visit palaces... Her mother said she took after her father. She didn't even know who he was.

One day, while the two were walking around Florence, her mother received an invitation to a party in a women's clothing store. Thinking of her daughter, Valentina accepted, and the two bought suitable clothes and jewelry. Her mother had resources. For Rebeca, it would be a night of glamour, and she felt like a princess, a dreamy girl with a loving companion.

They arrived early and that dazzling world enchanted her. There were many supernatural beings: werewolves, witches, fairies and vampires. Her mother told her to be polite and to be careful around them. She was very popular among humans, which is where her first invitation to be a model came from. Her mother refused, but she kept the man's card.
Her mother was tall like her daughter, thin and had porcelain white skin, almond-shaped, golden brown eyes and a sweet smile. The two were asked to dance by two humans. They were having fun, but even so, the mother couldn't take her eyes off her daughter. In the middle of the dance, another man approached and she was passed to him. They stopped next to the champagne table, she drank the liquid he gave her in a glass and went to the balcony.
When the mother noticed her absence, she went after Rebeca on the balcony. Rebeca drank more with him, they laughed and he kissed her. She was hypnotized by him, and it took her a while to realize that an older man in a black cloak had approached. He took a syringe from the cuff of his coat. The younger man held her and took some blood from her arm. She couldn't move, she didn't know if it was the effect of the alcohol, magic or hypnosis.

“Hurry up, wizard, her mother is coming,” said the one holding her. “Aren't you going to try the wolf's blood, Elton?” the other laughed. “I don't like dog blood, it's bitter to vampires.” She called out to Hera, her wolf, but she didn't answer, and Rebeca couldn't transform me.

The old man vanished into thin air. The mother arrived, saw her being attacked, transformed herself, but the other man was a vampire and flew with Valentina to the garden, attacking her and tearing her apart in front of her daughter, who was still paralyzed. Other wolves approached, took care of Rebeca. They took her back to their pack. Soon after, Alpha Arton appeared and began to take care of her. He wanted to reach the Council of Wolves, to have access to the royal family. He couldn't have a bastard daughter, out of wedlock. And Rebeca didn't want to affect the memory of my adoptive father. She was proud of her adoptive father's surname and everyone thought she was his daughter, but he died in an attack on her pack when Rebeca was still a cub. That's why they decided to pretend to be husband and wife, second-chance companions. I saw her swear to the goddess of the Moon that I would grow up one day. I would find out who that vampire was who paralyzed me and killed her mother and a part of her that day in Florence. She blamed herself for not having realized he was a vampire, for not being able to transform. She had to kill him one day, for her mother. That's why she became a great investigator, with a network of spy models. And the king himself gave her the names of the vampires who were at that party in Florence. Evandro Elton was the name she wanted, he was a lowly vampire who worked for witches in exchange for shelter and food. He was in trouble and had gone into hiding in Russia. But she was determined to find him and kill him.

I felt all the pain, guilt and remorse that Rebeca was feeling over her mother's death. And I felt that telling me this, even through memories, made her remember everything and consumed her. This was her fear of completing the marking. I hugged her and let her cry in my arms. She looked like a little girl. It must have been good, sharing this burden with someone a little.

“Do you still want me, even though I'm an idiot who brought death to your mother? Do you understand why I have to kill him? I'll never be able to put this behind me if I don't stop her from doing this again to someone innocent, it's not just revenge. And I don't care if I die as long as he dies too.”

“I am your destined mate, and I am your man, I love you Rebecca and nothing will change that. I am also a stalker and a killer who brings justice to the Council of Wolves, and to those who mess with my people. I do not think the Moon Goddess jokes on duty. She knows very well why she has me united with you. That vampire has been dead since the moment you got hurt. I just need to know his name.” She looked at me in disbelief. “If I hadn’t left the ballroom…” “Shhhhh. Don’t think about any more of this. Honey, you were a young girl, you had no experience, it was your first dance, clearly he must have put something in your drink to make you dizzy, to put your wolf to sleep…” “You understand, now, why when Bella told me about her story with John, what happened to her on the day of the dance, on the balcony… Despite the resemblance, John was a good boy and helped her and everything worked out. But, I dropped everything and went to her birthday game and…” I silenced her with a kiss. “Somehow, Beca, that made you come to me. Somehow things were planned for our meeting, Bella and John’s happiness, even the story of my mother and father. So, look at the good side of this story and the bad side, it will end when we get to Russia.
