27- Lyrycal dance and succes
Before to see my friends go out to stae I could´t help, but wonder. "What makes something modern dance? Where is the line drawn between modern, contemporary, and lyrical?"
Modern dance is a term that describes many types of dance techniques. It is a category of dance styles, often referred to as a genre of dance. Many of the main styles in this genre are credited to specific choreographers who pioneered new and unique ways of moving and created new movement vocabularies based on their personal philosophies: their views of how dance functions as an artistic tool.
Contemporary dance usually means that it has been created recently, and is performed to contemporary music. This style of dance is all about versatility and improvisation while focusing on emotional and physical expression. This style of dance is a fusion of jazz, ballet, and modern styles.
Lyrical dance is most often performed to songs with lyrics and is all about smooth, fluid movement and expression of emotions. The music can be of a wide range of genres, as long as it is emotionally charged and expressive, and the lyrics/nature of the music used will serve as inspiration for choreography. This style of dance is a fusion of jazz and ballet styles.
One of the earliest documented forms of dancing can be found in the early ancient cultures. Some of the most famous examples come from both India and Egypt. They talk of both the gods and the practice of dancing. In the Rig-Veda, for example, there is detailed writing about the importance of music and dance to the gods. Dancing was used to propitiate a deity as well as to expand human prosperity. In the twin epics, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, dancing is mentioned as part of a curing ritual. Dancers have always been considered essential to the worship of the gods. There are both Sanskrit and Prakrit poems that lament the lot of dancing girls in the early ancient Hindu Indian society. They were young, married, dedicated to their calling, and had a short life. They were available, as such, to the wealthy patrons of the rich temples. Meanwhile, in the land of Egypt, it is easy to see dancing as an important religious observation. There are many paintings that have been found that contain a depiction of dancers. This provides evidence that suggests dance was an ancient practice used in reference to the god Osiris and his wife, Isis, in addition to the dancer's status. It was believed that dancing helped resurrect a healthy and viable deity. The movements and clothing of the dancers were usually kept in the traditions and customs of the time of their actions. It was important to keep up appearances to blend in those of who you reference. The dancers also played the role of performing expressional acts. Such acts were contrived to help people in the soul's long journey through life. It was essential for the dancer to engross people in the acts in order for them to have a dramatic effect. The visual and auditory experience was captivating and believable. This importance appears in accounts and finds concerning Palaistra, the sports and dance hall of the city. Artistic and staged/informal, the main two types of classical dance originate from ancient Greece. Staged/informal dance was folk and was danced at festivals dedicated to various gods and particular occasions. These dances were learned from each other and were not organized, but an artistic stage form was created. A spatial organization was made by the steps and figures which were achieved through rhythm, and something interesting occurred in stages with the music and the movement. Mimesis, today's imitative dance, was the type of classical dance providing an artistic product, performance, and stage relaxation. Ancient Greece was the most fully settled part of the known world. Scientists conducting studies in various cities of the world were of colonial origins and carried the knowledge concerning ancient Greece with them to the world. Dancers have trained as philosophers, orators, scientists, and playwrights in order to learn dance and have made major contributions to the art for the benefit of the world. Dance took on a religious aim in ancient Greece and became sacred. As developed during the Roman Empire, Roman dance was also influenced by Greek dance, but there were differences. Like the circus games, the feast dances provided amusement. These group identities are numerous, including those of gender, age, social class, sexual and political orientation, value of humor, professions, and non-religiously defined mixes of beliefs and practices often recognized as cultures. Dance often reinforces them through linking to stories, songs, rhythms, styles, body posture, gesture, costume, music, and other features that make groups distinctive. Dances are used to acknowledge the presence of strangers from other groups, or even within the larger group to signal approval or join new groups. Cultural imperatives are often honored through dances performed around the world. For instance, most societies commemorate the yearly cycle with some sort of dance or mimic drama, the simplest form of necessity being that crops have to be celebrated as they are eaten. Great moments in a society's history are commemorated by performance, be they births, initiation rights, courtship, feasts, marriage, education, service to others, mortuary feasts, transmitting power from generation to generation, and ultimately death.
