"Yes, it's Mr. Foster's Blue Bay," the man on the phone replied, sounding excited.
"Miss, she needs someone to help her bathe urgently, and out of hundreds of resumes, she chose you at first glance. Hurry and come!" He then hung up the phone.
Adeline furrowed her brows and looked up at Bennett in front of her. "Is this the job you found for me?"
The little guy silently nodded and reached for her hand. "Mommy, I know why you came back this time. Going to Jasper's house is easier to get close to him than going to his company, right?"
Adeline sighed. As expected, she couldn't hide anything from this little guy.
She crouched down, "You're right, but..."
"Mommy, don't worry!" Bennett looked at Adeline, his eyes sparkling. "That lady is also easy to serve!" Adeline helplessly smiled, washed her face, and tidied herself up quickly.
"By the way, where's Lauren?" she asked while changing her shoes.
Every time she came back home, her little cotton coat would rush out like a little bird to greet her. Why wasn't she doing that today?
"Oh, she got engrossed in watching cartoons!" Bennett reassured her, "You can trust me to take care of her. Nothing will happen to Lauren."
Adeline didn't say anything else and left. Bennett was right. Working at Blue Bay was indeed easier to get close to Jasper than at the Foster Group. She couldn't miss this opportunity.
However, who was this lady?
Before returning home, she had researched a lot about Jasper, but there was no mention of this lady anywhere. With a puzzled mind, Adeline was hired by Blue Bay.
The person was taken to Blue Bay.
Six years had passed.
Finally, she returned to this villa once again.
The small trees she had planted outside the yard had grown tall and straight.
Everything inside the villa remained unchanged.
The vases and paintings she had personally arranged back then were still in their original places, untouched.
Looking at all of this, Adeline's mood became complicated.
"Lauren, we're here!"
Suddenly, a man's voice sounded behind her, humble and helpless.
Adeline subconsciously turned around.
Behind her, her little cotton coat was wearing a pink princess dress, holding a white plush bear in her arms, smiling at her.
Lauren!?
She looked at the little girl in front of her, shocked and unable to speak!
Lauren secretly put her finger to her lips, making a "shh" gesture.
"Just call her Auntie," Bennett’s word’s echoed in Lauren’s ears.
She ran over, "Hello, Auntie, I'm Lauren!"
Adeline frowned and lowered her voice, "What are you doing here?"
"I'll explain later!"
The tender little hand held Adeline's pinky, "Auntie, let's go upstairs, I want to take a fragrant milk bath!"
After speaking, she pulled Adeline and walked upstairs with a steady gait.
"Take good care of Lauren!"
Watching the woman's figure, Ryan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Lauren was more difficult to deal with than her father. He had worked hard all morning to finally find a maid that suited her taste!
In the small bathroom of the children's room, Lauren lay in the bathtub, pouting sadly, "Mummy, don't be angry. Daddy is actually very nice to me... I haven't been treated badly."
Adeline rubbed her forehead in slight frustration, "I'm going to make a phone call."
Lauren leaned on the bathtub, watching Adeline's departing figure with a dejected look.
Had she done something wrong?
Why was mummy so unhappy?
"Bennett!"
Standing on the balcony, Adeline held the phone, gritting her teeth as she mentioned the person's name, "Is this the job you arranged for me?"
On the other end of the phone, little Bennett's voice carried a hint of apprehension, "Mummy, have you met Lauren?"
"Why did you let Lauren meet him?"
She had only known that her eldest son was reserved, her second son mischievous, and her youngest daughter obedient and cute. But she never expected that Bennett would dare to deceive her and let Lauren find Jasper!
"Mummy, it was bound to happen sooner or later."
Bennett sighed, "I knew you would be angry, so I didn't dare tell you. But mummy, don't you think... Lauren looks too much like him? Even if we don't mention it, someday we'll be living in Denver, and his people will inevitably meet Lauren..."
"He would have eventually found out," Adeline tightened her grip on the phone. Though she didn't want to admit it, the truth was, Lauren did indeed resemble Jasper, especially her eyebrows and eyes.
As Adeline fell silent, Bennett quickly seized the opportunity to continue, "Since he would’ve discovered it sooner or later, we might as well take the initiative. At least now that Lauren has appeared, he will know that Mommy is actually alive. Furthermore, with Lauren by his side, it will prevent him from marrying that mistress."
Adeline closed her eyes and asked, "Have you considered what we'll do if he doesn't return Lauren to us in the future?"
"You and Lauren are the ones I worked so hard to give birth to and raise, I don't want..."
"Don't worry, Mommy."
On the other end of the phone, the six-year-old little one raised a finger and solemnly vowed, "If Mommy wants Lauren back in the future, I will make sure Lauren comes back!"
Adeline forced a bitter smile and hung up the phone. Bennett was just a child who didn't understand Jasper at all.
Back then, he had put her life at risk for his affair with Molly. If he doesn't let go of Lauren in the future...
She couldn't bear to continue thinking about it. Now that things had come to this point, she couldn't expose herself or take Lauren away. There were still many things she needed to do. She could only take it one step at a time.
Sighing, she returned to the bathroom. Inside, Lauren, who was so precious to Jasper, had finished bathing and was drying herself off, wearing only her underwear. She was only six years old but already so considerate and heartwarming.
Seeing Adeline enter, the little one lifted her head, looking at her with timid eyes, and spoke cautiously, "Mommy, you're not mad at Lauren, right?"
"It was Bennett who said... said Lauren could help you with many things..."
Adeline's heart felt like it was melting as she looked into her daughter's misty eyes. How could she blame her? Walking over, she helped dress Lauren and then embraced her.
"I don't blame you. Be obedient and remember, you mustn't call me 'Mommy' in front of others. Tell me everything first, okay?"
"Okay!" Lauren extended her arms and hugged Adeline's slender shoulders. "I will always be Mommy's daughter. Lauren won't forget."
The woman held her daughter, suppressing her tears from falling.
"Lauren."
After an unknown amount of time passed, a deep and magnetic voice sounded from outside, "I am Daddy, are you done washing?"
Lauren looked up at Adeline's face.
Adeline nodded and released her.
"I'm done!"
Lauren took a deep breath and leisurely came out of the bathroom. Adeline stayed inside the bathroom, draining the water from the bathtub and tidying up everything. The room door opened. As a tall figure walked in, Lauren was immediately embraced by him.
The man's arms were broad and warm, and Lauren leaned against his shoulder, letting out an almost imperceptible sigh.
So, this is what it feels like to be held by Daddy? I wish Blake Bennett could experience this too... Having a Daddy is actually quite nice!
"Ryan told me you found yourself a maid," Jasper frowned and asked in a low voice.
"Hmm," Lauren nodded and pointed towards the bathroom, "Auntie is still in there, Daddy. She's a very good woman! You should get along well with her in the future!"
Adeline, who was wiping the sink, furrowed her brows slightly. Why does she feel like... Lauren wants to match her with Jasper?
