Chapter 99
Chapter 99
💗THIRD POV💗
THE CITY'S PRISON.....
Leo's gaze is focused on the floor in his cell he shares with two other men, all dressed in their orange uniforms.
The men are focused on the cards they are playing, smiling at each other. They have adapted perfectly well to their situation except for Leo who is a newbie.
Leo recalled how he killed his cousin. The only sibling he had on this earth.
It wasn't self defence.
He actually lied.
Robert was still reacting to the pain from the baseball bat when Leo took the gun from Robert's pocket.
Leo was raging and hurting over Sofia's death. He can't believe that Robert actually killed her. He hated himself all these years. He blamed himself for her death but Robert murdered her.
He couldn't stand the sight of Robert. He killed Sofia and ceased his child. That bastard ceased Elodie.
Elodie was Leo's all these while and he didn't know.
The minute Robert turned around, Leo shot him on the head and Robert's body limped.
Leo stared at floors of his cell as the way he killed Robert replayed in his head.
He does not regret it. He is not unhappy being in this hellhole. His only pain is Elodie.
He would love to be around her and raised her like her father that he is. But he can't. He has years, if not a lifetime to spend in this place.
He will not be able to be around her.
He hopes Kimberly takes good care of her. Kimberly is his only hope right now.
A police officer walked towards Leo's cell gate.
"Leonardo Capri," the officer called as he opened the cell.
Leo looked at him.
"You have a visitor." The officer said.
Leo furrowed his brows. "I had visitors like a few minutes ago." He said.
"Well, you have another. Let's go," the officer said.
Leo got on his feet and followed the officer out of his cell. They walked along the pathway with numerous cells filled with people on both sides. A lot of noise is coming from each cell as they walked.
Getting towards the door of the visiting hall, the officer cuffed Leo's hands. The officer opened the door and they walked into the visiting hall.
The hall is quite full but their are still empty tables around.
Leo stopped on his track at the sight of Robert's parents.
They are glaring at him from where they sat. Actually, Robert's father is glaring at him while Robert's mother is sobbing and staring at him as well.
His heart tightened at the sight of her. She is the only mother he knows. His real mother abandoned him when he was just two months old.
Robert's mother took him on as her child.
But she joined her husband to maltreat him after the incident with Inez.
"Move," the police ordered.
Leo made steps towards the table where Robert's parents are seated.
"You animal!" Robert's mother cried, getting on her feet and walked towards Leo. She began hitting his chest and crying.
Leo dropped his gaze as she hit him. This took everyone's attention.
"No touching!" The officer yelled.
Robert's mother kept on hitting Leo.
"Ma'am!" The officer yelled.
Robert's father got on his feet and drew her back to her seat.
"You killed my son," she cried as she sat next to her husband. Leo sat opposite them as Robert's father glared at him.
Leo dropped his gaze, feeling his heart clenching. He is not sad because of what he did. But because he hates seeing his aunt cry.
"You killed my only son. My only child. What did he do to you? He was your brother. He was more than a cousin to you. You both grew up together. We raised you together. Why did you kill him?" She cried.
"He killed Sofia." Leo said calmly, looking at them.
They froze.
Leo stared at them without blinking.
"What?" Robert's mother asked.
"You heard me, Aunt. Your son killed his late wife."
"You are a bastard. You hear me? A fucking bastard." Robert's father snarled.
Leo nodded. "I have always been a bastard, sir. My mother gave birth to me without a father. So yes, I am a bastard."
They stared at him.
"That's why it was very easy for you both to maltreat me for something I didn't do." Leo said.
"Shut up. Shut your mouth!" Robert"s mother cried.
Leo stared at her.
"How dare you accuse my son of killing his wife. What type of a person are you?! I raised you, Leonardo. This is not you. What happened to you?!"
"Sofia was the love of my life, aunt." Leo said.
Their faces twitched.
"Your son killed her in cold blood. He told me himself. He almost killed another but I intervened. Your son deserved his fate." Leo said, feeling his blood boil as he spoke.
Robert's mother sobbed.
"I will make sure you rot in jail for this." Robert's father snarled.
Leo nodded. "No big deal. There is nothing out there for me. No money or real family." He said but his heart clenched at the thought of Elodie.
"I will pay for my crime. But I don't regret killing him." He added.
Robert's parents stared him.
"I will kill him over and over again if I had the chance." Leo snarled.
Robert's mother sobbed.
Robert's father gritted his teeth.
Leo looked at the officer. "Take me back to my cell." He said, getting on his feet.
"Wait, where is my granddaughter?" Robert's mother asked.
Leo looked at her.
"Where is Elodie, you freak?! Did you kill her too?" Robert's father asked.
Leo scoffed. "I can't kill my own child, sir."
Robert's parents furrowed their brows.
"Elodie is my daughter. Robert, your dearest son was impotent. He can't father a child. So, I am sorry, Mr and Mrs Faquard. You don't have a grandchild." Leo said, smirking at them.
Robert's father clenched his jaw angrily. Robert's mother covered her mouth with her palms.
"Oh my God." She cried.
"You will pay for this, bastard. You will pay dearly." Robert's father snarled.
"Take me back," Leo said to the officer, ignoring them. They headed towards the door.
Robert's mother sobbed as her husband held her. He was glaring at Leo as they walked.
Leo didn't spare them another look as he headed back to his cell.
He needs to make sure that Robert's parents doesn't take Elodie. He prefers her with Kimberly.
He hopes that Kimberly keeps Elodie with her. He doesn't want Elodie with Robert's parents.
They might harm her for what he did.
He has to do something about it.
DARLYN'S FAMILY HOUSE......
In a big mansion almost like Ernest's, Darlyn and her family are seated at the dining table, eating breakfast. The maids are moving around the table, serving them.
They are having pancakes, bacon, eggs, milk and fruit juice.
Darlyn's parents are seated next to eachother. Darlyn is seated at her father right hand side while her younger sister is seated at her mother's left hand side.
They are all busy eating their meal but Darlyn is moving her fork on her bacon sluggishly. She looks uninterested and unhappy.
Her mind is filled up with Ernest and how to get him back.
She regret all she did. She regret betraying him like that. She really love him.
She want him to be hers again. But she has no idea what to do.
Darlyn's mother stared at her. Her father sipped his juice as his eyes moved to Darlyn.
Darlyn's parents shared a look.
Darlyn's sister, Melody, is busy with her meal and pressing her phone at the same time.
"Stop that," Darlyn's mother ordered her.
Melody heaved a sigh as she dropped her phone.
Darlyn's mother looked at Darlyn.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" Darlyn's mother asked.
Darlyn nodded slightly.
"You don't look okay," her father said.
"I am fine, dad." Darlyn said as her sister looked at her.
"But you have barely touched your food." Her mother said.
Darlyn heaved a sigh.
"She is thinking about her failed marriage." Melody mocked, making Darlyn throw her a glare.
Melody pursed her lips.
"Is that true?" Their dad asked, making Darlyn look at him.
He is chewing his food.
Darlyn dropped her gaze.
"You ruined it yourself, Darlyn." He said, making Darlyn's heart clench.
"I didn't know I raised a loosed woman." He said.
Darlyn's heart tightened.
"Rafael," her mother called.
He looked at her. "What?"
"Why would you say that?" Her mother asked him.
"That's what she is, Becca. A loosed woman. You cheated on your husband with his best friend. How low can you be, Darlyn?" Darlyn's father asked her.
Tears rolled down from Darlyn's eyes. Melody stared at her, feeling bad.
"You have ruined not only your marriage but your career and my name. I can't even go to my office with my head up high. You have lost a good man. The CEO of the best advertising company in this city. How dare you?!" He yelled.
Everyone flinched.
"I am disappointed." He added.
"Rafael, please...."
"Hey!" He yelled again, shutting Darlyn's mother up.
More tears rolled down Darlyn's eyes.
"I am out of here." He said, getting on his feet and walked away.
"Rafael," Darlyn's mother called after him but he didn't respond but walked out of the house with his PA.
Darlyn's mother heaved a sigh.
"Geez," Melody said.
Darlyn moved to get on her feet but...
"Hey, hey, where are you going to?" Her mother asked.
"I lost my appetite, mum." Darlyn said without looking at her mother.
"No. You are not going anywhere. Sit down. The person leaving is your sister." Her mother said, looking at Melody.
"What? Mum!" Melody said.
"Take your food to your room." Her mother ordered.
"But you said I should stop eating in my room."
"Today is an exception. Go now. I need to speak to your sister alone." Her mother said as Darlyn sat down.
"Why should I leave? I am part of the family." Melody said.
"Now, Melody." Her mother ordered.
"Fine." Melody said, getting on her feet, picked up her plate and glass of milk and headed out.
Darlyn's gaze is down.
Darlyn's mother stared at her.
"Mum, I need to go to my room." Darlyn said.
"Is that where you will fight and get your man back?" Her mother asked, making Darlyn furrow her brows.
"Aren't you going to get him back?"
"I don't know what to do, mum. I am tired and heartbroken. Ernest doesn't want me anymore. He is with that bitch and her brats." Darlyn said, moving the strands of her hair behind her ear.
Her mother nodded. "I get it. He doesn't want you anymore."
Darlyn heaved a sigh and leaned on the seat.
"But you are not going to let go easily." Her mother added.
She looked at her.
Her mother nodded.
"You are going to sign the divorce papers first."
Darlyn scoffed in disbelief. "Mum, I can't. I don't want to. I am not divorcing him. I love him."
"I know. But he loves another. You can't force a man to love you. But you can make him pay for hurting you."
Darlyn furrowed her brows. "How will I do that?"
"You once told me that that tramp told you that he cheated on you with her, right?" Her mother asked.
Darlyn nodded slightly.
"Then he cheated first. Didn't he?"
Darlyn furrowed her brows. "I think so. The thing between Mason and I started after my birthday party. He has always been around her."
Her mother nodded. "Good. He definitely cheated first. You are going to use it against him."
"How, mum?"
"You are going to use it and take half of his wealth."
"What?"
Her mother nodded. "That's what wives of billionaires do these days. I will do it your dad if I catch him cheating on me."
Darlyn scoffed. "It is no use, mum. It is not going to work. Ernest has evidence of me with Mason. I have no evidence of him with that bitch." Darlyn said.
Her mother placed her fingers on her chin, thinking about something.
"You said they kissed in the company, right?" Her mother asked.
"Yes. And he touched her too. What are jerk." Darlyn said, getting upset all over again.
"The company must have CCTVS all over the place. You have to get a record."
Darlyn scoffed. "How do you expect me to look for a video of something I am not sure of the date and place? And we were not even married then. Ernest has strong evidence against me. He caught Mason and I together."
"Shut up and listen. You are going to get a video of him with that girl. And you will make it look like he did it while you were both married, you hear me?"
Darlyn furrowed her brows.
"False accusations always work. You are not going to let him humiliate you like that. I will get you another lawyer because your dad will surely not let us use our family lawyer. You and Ernest will go to court and you will take half of all he has, got it?"
Darlyn nodded. "But...how do we get the CCTV record?"
Her mother smirked. "A friend of mine. Her name is Patty. Her daughter's boyfriend works at the CCTV department in Ernest's company. The poor boy has been trying so hard to get Patty's approval for a long time now. I think she will help me make him get the CCTV record for us." Her mother said, smirking.
Darlyn smiled a little. "Will this work, mum?"
"Of course it will. You are going to be a billionaire, sweetie. Ernest is worth a lot of money. More reason why I hate this issue between you two. But not to worry, you are taking half of all he has. It is better than nothing."
Darlyn's heart twirled in excitement.
She loves the idea.
And she trust her mum.
This is definitely going to work.
ALONG THE ROAD.....
"Oh my God, Jessie!" Kim squealed, wrapping Jessie in a hug.
Jessie winced at the pain, making Kimberly release her instantly.
"Sorry, sorry. I am sorry." Kimberly said, scanning her.
"Jessie," Elodie said, hugging Jessie.
"Hey, sweetie. I am sorry about your dad." Jessie said, caressing Elodie's hair.
"What happened to you? Why are you injured?" Kim asked, making Jessie look at her.
"You look horrible. Who did this to you?" Kim asked.
Jessie dropped her gaze.
Kimberly's heart clenched as she thought about the one possible person responsible for this.
"Was it Ella?" Kim asked.
Jessie looked at her.
Kimberly nodded. "She did this to you, didn't she?"
Jessie dropped her gaze and nodded as tears rolled down her eyes.
"You told me she was an old friend." Kimberly said.
Jessie shook her head. "I am sorry. I lied."
Kimberly's heart clenched.
"She was my girlfriend. The awful girlfriend I told you about. The one that promised to help me with my education but denied it. I lied to you because I knew of her plans to ruin you. I was so scared of her." Jessie said, looking at Kim.
Kim stared at her with emotions.
"I am sorry, Kim. Please forgive me." Jessie said, sobbing.
Kimberly wrapped her in a hug.
"It's okay."
Jessie kept sobbing as Kimberly caressed her back.
Elodie placed her hand on Jessie's arm.
"Let's take you to the hospital so you can get treated." Kimberly said, taking Jessie's hand.
"No, no. No hospital. I am fine."
"Jessie, your head is bleeding. You are really injured."
"I am fine, Kim. I don't want to go to any hospital. Please." Jessie cried.
Kimberly furrowed her brows. "Okay, let go home. Let's go to Ernest's place."
"No, no. You can't go back there."
"What? Why not?" Kim asked.
"Ella is there."
Kim froze. "What?"
Jessie nodded. "Ella is around there waiting for you. Once you go there, she will shoot you."
Kimberly scoffed in disbelief. "What did I ever do to her that she wants to ruin me so bad? Now she wants to kill me?"
"Come on, Kim. Come with me. I have someone who can help us." Jessie said, taking Kimberly's hand and walked ahead before Kimberly could say anything. Elodie held Kim's hand, trying to meet up.
Jessie is literally running. So is Kim and Elodie.
"Where are we going?" Kim asked as they kept running.
"Somewhere safe." Jessie said.
"Let me call Ernest. He will help us call the police." Kimberly said.
Jessie stopped in front of a warehouse with no one around or walking by.
"Is this the safe place?" Kimberly asked.
Jessie turned to her.
Kimberly and Elodie are panting from the run.
"It looks like an abandoned warehouse. How are we going to be safe here?" Kimberly asked, looking at the building.
"I am sorry, Kim." Jessie said, making Kimberly look at her.
Jessie's eyes are brimming.
"She was going to kill my mother." Jessie said.
Kimberly furrowed her brows.
"Who?"
"Me." A very familiar female voice said from behind Kimberly, making her heart drop.
She turned around and she saw Ella aiming a gun at her.
"Hello, bestie." Ella said, smirking at Kim.
