Chapter 63 Chapter 63

Chapter 63 Chapter 63
Averie stepped back slowly, taking shaky breaths. “I won’t stay because of the baby.”

Her voice trembled, but her eyes were firm.

“Nah” she shook her head “ I don’t want any decision influenced by pity. Or because of the baby. I won’t baby trap you, and I won’t let you think sympathy is enough to keep me here.” Averie said through her pain.

Darian stiffened at her words “Sympathy?” he repeated quietly.

“Do you think I don’t want a happy ending for myself?,” she whispered. “I would rather raise this child alone than stay in a marriage where I’m not truly wanted.”

The words tore through Darian like a blade. He stepped closer, his chest rising sharply, eyes burning with something raw.

“Averie, listen to me.”

She tried to turn away but he gently cupped her cheeks, forcing her to meet his eyes.

“I’m not trying to change your mind because of the baby, and I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want” he said, voice thick with emotion.

“I’m trying to change your mind because of us.”

Averie blinked, confused.

Darian’s voice softened into a confession that trembled with vulnerability:

“I have loved you for a long time, Averie Quinn,” he said and her breath caught.

“I tried to hide it. I tried to be rational. I tried to pretend this marriage was just business but you…” He laughed shakily. “You crawled under my skin the moment you walked into my life.”

He swallowed hard.

“I was terrified. Because loving you meant losing control. And I’ve already lost too many things.”

Averie’s tears spilled again while Darian pressed his forehead to hers.

“I love you. Not because you’re carrying my child. Not because of some contract. But because you’re the only woman who has ever made me want a home, and a future, and… everything.”

“Darian…” she whispered, voice cracking.

He brushed her tears away.
“So don’t ever talk about leaving me. Could you not talk about ending us? You can walk away if you choose to… but I’ll spend the rest of my life pulling you back.”

Her heart shattered at the heavy confession that’s second to none but this time, it’s in the best way.

And without another word, Averie grabbed his shirt and kissed him.

A deep, desperate, passionate kiss that spoke of every silent emotion, every pain, every longing they had long hidden.

Darian held her face, responding with equal fire and longing. The world around them disappeared until it was just them, and their hearts.
When they finally pulled apart, both breathless and trembling, Darian whispered against her lips:

“Let’s tell grandfather the good news”

Averie nodded, smiling through her tears

After completing her treatment at the hospital, Darian took his wife home. They made a direct stop at the grandfather’s home. When they arrived, til of joy, they met the grandfather in his study, grumbling about stocks when they barged in.

“Grandfather,” Darian said, barely containing his excitement.

“Oh my bundle of happiness! How was work today?” The old man gestured to a seat with a bright smile.

“Grandfather, Averie, and I, we’re expecting,” he announced and the old man stared at them both for a while before he broke into the widest smile either of them had seen.

“Finally!” he barked. “Took you long enough!”

He took Averie’s hands and squeezed them tightly, “Thank you, my dear”

He clapped Darian on the back so hard it nearly dislocated something.
“That child will be the light of this family,” he said proudly.
“You both… you’ve made me very happy.”

The house echoed with the old man’s laughter and Averie's sweet ones as they started to converse.

Meanwhile, while they were gone, one of the new maids was cleaning Averie’s room. She dusted shelves, rearranged books, and then, as she moved a jewelry box, a folder slipped out.

A familiar-looking document. She picked it up.

“Contract Marriage Agreement.” she read it out loud and her eyes widened. Skimming through the signature, her eyes paled.

“This… this could destroy everything.” She uttered shakily but instead of reporting it to Averie or Fred— she smirked and slipped it into her apron before she hurried out of the mansion.

Later that evening, she stood nervously in a black car parked outside a quiet café.

Inside the car, there’s Lauren Graham.
The moment she read the document, her laughter filled the car.

“Oh, Averie dear…” she said in delight.
“You’ve handed me your downfall.”

Without hesitation, she snapped a photo of every page and sent it to a reporter known for tearing families apart.

“This will be on the front page by morning.”

The next day was peaceful>>
Averie slept, curled into Darian’s arms, warm and safe for the first time in a long while. His hand rested protectively over her stomach. He kissed her forehead gently each time she moved.

Then, he heard the doorbell ring.

Averie groaned and carefully slipped out of bed so he wouldn’t wake her. He threw on a robe and went downstairs.

When he opened the door, his expression froze.

Standing there was his grandfather’s butler. The man looked nervous and breathless.

“Sir… there’s an emergency.” Darian’s heart tightened.

“What happened?”

The butler swallowed hard.

“The master… he passed out after seeing a news article.”

Darian’s blood ran cold “What news?”

The butler hesitated, then said quietly:

“An article exposing your… contract marriage with Madam Averie.”

Hearing that, Darian staggered back.

Averie’s worst nightmare, the secret she feared most—
The thing she hid the baby to avoid has come out.

And the man who loved her like a daughter…
had collapsed because of it.

Darian’s face hardened with rage and fear.

“Call the car,” he ordered.

“I’m going to him now.”

And in that moment Darian knew that someone close to them must have learned of their secret. And they want to destroy his family so bad but what they don’t know is that, he would burn the world to find out who.
