Chapter 38 First Face-off

Chapter 38 First Face-off
Lila’s POV: First Faceoff

It was intense. Acting was intense. This was something much people weren’t told.
Even Nick had sneaked off at a point due to how intense the director was pushing everyone. I was tempted to call Adrian. But I had a goal in mind. So I took it all.
After all, what was success without sacrifice?
“Cut. What the heck was that?! Do you think we are here to play with teacups?! Who the fck auditioned you?” Stand at the side and watch how it’s done! Send in the doubles”
The director was truly pissed but I refused to intervene as I too was truly overworked. The girl who had been cast aside that was just yelled at slowly made her way towards me.
“Lila could you give me some acting tips. I’m tired of being yelled at like this”
“Sure. Why not?”
I asked her for her lines as both of us practiced them one line after the other.
“You guys can’t make use of this gazebo, we made the bookings earlier than you guys did.”
I heard the director shouting at some third party not far away from where we sat but I ignored them as I continued talking with the girl in front of me.
“Lila Monroe?”
Now what did I do to be called out specifically?
“What is it, Director?”
“A group of people barged in and made a claim that they are to use the gazebo as they had booked it earlier. I checked their booking but ours was two days earlier which means they are in the wrong. But they came over here with thugs and they have refused to leave until you meet them in person. Who did you have unsettled business with?”
“No one that I could remember director.”
“You still have to meet them though. I refuse to put the other actors and members of the set in jeopardy, I hope you understand where I am coming from”
Oh please, this guy was just running away from dealing with it. I glanced around and found Nick standing at the far end of the set seemingly waiting for me to make a decision.
“Let me meet them then” I made my way to them as Nick followed closely behind me. I wasn’t going to lie but I loved the fact that he was there. Just in case everything got violent.

“Well well well. If it isn’t the famous Lila Monroe”
A lady stood in front of me as she snickered. Behind her were at least five hefty men who appeared to be itching to find a punching bag.
But now. They seemed to want to lock me up and have their way with me uninterrupted. I hated men who clearly lacked an atom of self control in them.
“Teach your men some self control or they won’t be able to use the services of their eyes after today”
Nick sounded cold as the men laughed. The lady seemed to tick as she turned her sight to him. I was trying to know if I had met her before.
But did I, nope.
Talked to her before, nope.
Do I even know she existed till I met her today, hell fucking nahh.
So how did we manage to become enemies? Cause one thing was for sure, she didn’t come for a peaceful discussion and I hated the fact that we were out numbered.
“What do you want? It’s better we just go straight to the point” Nick said again as he pulled out his phone and sent a text to someone.
“Hold your tongue lackey. This has nothing to do with you”
Lackey?!!
“Did you just call him lackey? My best friend, a lackey?”
“Isn’t he one? Since he loves to be walking beside you all the time. Or are you guys dating?”
I wanted to rush over and give her a slap but I held myself back as I quietly looked at her.
“What do you want?” I asked her this time as I didn’t want to drag this out anymore.
“Oh nothing. Just wanted to meet you in person. I am pretty sure you remember me right?”
“Are you worth remembering?” Her face twisted as her eye took a malicious look.
“You don’t know me?”
“I see no reason why. Have we ever met?”
I watched as she huffed and puffed in anger as she threw her phone straight at me. If the phone had landed where it should have, I would have been walking around with a scarred face.
But it didn’t as Nick had dragged me away from the direction of the hit on time. He wanted to go off and fight but I stopped him. Two on one might have been possible, but five at once, he was the one asking for a beating.
“After everything, you don’t even know me.”
The lady still seemed agitated as a phone rang out interrupting the entire squabble. Her face flashed with a triumphant look as she seemed to have seen a savior.
“Hi da….”
“Did you go to meet Lila Monroe and interrupt her filming on set? I need only a one word answer and for your sake, it better be the truth.”
Her face twisted once more as I held back my laughter. Serves her right for putting her call on speaker.
“Are you turning deaf?” The guy roared over the phone as she quietly mumbled a yes.
“Well thanks to you, half of my company is crashing down and there is no freaking way to stop it. Apologize to her immediately and leave that place at once”
“But…”
“Don’t you dare oppose. Apologize and leave that place at once or get ready to find your fake extravagant life yourself”
The call ended as quickly as it came. I knew she wasn’t going to apologize but I sure didn’t give a damn about it.
“Mark my words, this is far from over”
She angrily strutted out as her men followed behind.
“Well that was something.”
I muttered as Nick laughed and we turned to leave.
“You will pay for this!!!”
I heard an angry scream and turned back to meet the same lady launching a dagger to my face.
I tried dodging, but somehow, I still ended up with a huge tear on my cheek.
Security ended up taking her away as I held onto my face.
“Shit, Lila are you okay? Call an ambulance!”
“Calm down. It’s just a tear”
“Well I would love to see you make that statement once again”
I turned my face as I met the gaze of the one person I least expected to be here. I didn’t need to know who called him as I glared at Nick.
I was doomed.
