Chapter 271 Epilogue: Ten Months Later
Ten Months Later

Ryker moved his head lower between her thighs, his hands firmly gripping her hips to hold her steady against the pillows.

“Oh, deeper," she moaned, arching her back in pleasure.

Lyra couldn't stop the loud gasps coming from her lips as his tongue swirled against her clit.

She could also feel his rough stubble brushing her inner thighs which made her entire body tremble, her fingers sinking deep into his hair to pull him even closer.

“Come for me, baby girl," he growled between her legs while he slid two fingers inside her, matching the quick pace of his tongue.

Maybe he was using his alpha command, or perhaps it was his thick fingers inside her pussy, but she actually felt herself explode as the third orgasm hit her that night.

Ryker moved his fingers inside her, continuing until her entire body began to shake with the orgasm.

He kissed her thighs softly and then licked his lips, savoring her taste.

Immediately after, Lyra laid back on the pillows, completely boneless and exhausted.

Ryker stood up from the bed, looked down at her and adjusted the blankets. "Are you okay, baby?"

Lyra rolled her eyes, her breathing still heavy. "Of course I'm okay. But I told you to fuck me with your cock, Ryker, not your fingers."

Ryker sighed. "Come on, Lyra. You know I don't want to hurt you."

"What are you talking about?" Lyra snapped, sitting up slightly and glaring at him. "I'm not an invalid. I'm just pregnant."

"Heavily pregnant," Ryker corrected as he sat on the edge of the mattress. "It is your twelfth month, Lyra. You know what the pack doctor told us. Hybrid babies take a little longer for their bones to form properly in the womb. I am not risking their safety just because of sex. I don't want to hurt you, okay?"

Lyra’s eyes were suddenly filled with tears. "So you don't want me anymore because I have a big stomach? Is that it? You think I’m ugly now?" She buried her face in her hands and began to cry loudly.

Ryker moved closer, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. "Hey, hey, hey. Stop that. You know that is not true, baby. I want you more than anything.”

“You’re lying, you pathetic wolf!"

"Baby, hey, I'm not lying. Look at me."

He grabbed her hands and guided them down to his trousers.

He was completely hard.

Lyra felt the shape of him, and just like that, she stopped crying and burst out laughing, her eyes still wet with tears as she looked at his face.

Her pregnancy hormones were far worse than any regular human or werewolf hormones.

She was so temperamental that she could go from weeping to laughing in three seconds.

Ryker was entirely used to it by now. Just last month, he had woken up to find her sleeping with a silver hunting knife right by her bedside.

When he asked her about it, she had calmly insisted that if she heard him snore one more time, she was going to stab him in his sleep so their children would be fatherless.

Since she did not give him the option of leaving his own room, Ryker had stayed awake for the rest of the night, watching her sleep until dawn.

The next morning, she had apologized over breakfast, crying and calling herself a psychopath. Ryker had assured her he didn't mind, though he made sure the knife was never kept anywhere near her reach again.

Right now, she was laughing at his direction while he stood by the bed.

"That's not funny," Ryker said, shaking his head as he pulled his trousers back into place.

“Well, it's funny. Here I was thinking I'm ugly."

"You think I don't want to be with you? Of course I do."

"Well, I'm glad you have blue balls now," Lyra joked, leaning back against the velvet pillows with a smirk. "At least you know how it feels to be frustrated.”

“It will be worth the wait," he said and kissed her forehead.

"Oh goodness, I seriously cannot wait to pop these babies out. They are going to be so cute. I want the girl to look exactly like me."

Ryker snorted, crossing his arms. "The doctor said it's likely two boys, Lyra."

"It's two girls," she argued, throwing a small pillow at his chest.

They had both refused to let the clinic doctor reveal the gender of the twins because they wanted it to be a surprise at birth.

The doctor told them weekly that both babies were incredibly healthy, but the husband and wife still had a daily debate on who would be right and who would be wrong.

They were still leaning on the bed, bickering back and forth, when a sudden, loud knock sounded on the bedroom door.

Lyra snapped her head toward the sound and yelled, "Go away! I'm trying to screw my husband in here!"

Ryker’s face flushed, and he grabbed a shirt from the floor. "Come on, Lyra, you can't keep saying that to the maids, it’s completely inappropriate."

"Who cares?" Lyra shrugged, a smug look on her face. "I'm a pregnant woman, right? I can get away with anything in this house. I could probably get away with murder if I wanted to."

Ryker shook his head and quickly dressed, pulling a loose robe over Lyra’s shoulders to cover her up properly.

He walked over and opened the door.

Rex was standing in the corridor and as he opened the door, she looked between Ryker and the bed, her face turning pink. "Um... I'm sorry. Is it a bad time?"

Ryker let out a dry breath. "The Luna wants to kill me with sex, Rex, so I actually think it’s a good kind of timing."

Rex took a step back. "Oh. I can just come back later in the morning."

"No, come in," Ryker replied, stepping aside. "I think I seriously need the break."

Rex murmured an apology to him and entered the room, closing the door behind her.

Lyra shifted her weight on the mattress, waving a hand. "I'm sorry I can't come hug you, Rex, the belly will get in the way."

"It’s nothing," Rex said, walking to the foot of the bed.

"Well, you better have an incredibly good reason why you're knocking on my bedroom door this late at night," Lyra said playfully. "You know I love you, but you can't just interrupt my sleep like that. I'm pregnant."

"Yeah, um, I am just getting back from the night patrol with Wayne," Rex explained, shifting her feet.

"Yeah, cool, what about it?" Lyra asked, rolling her eyes. "Don't tell me you're borrowing my husband for those dumb patrols again. Come on, the vampires are dead already and so is the Blood King. We don't have to sleep outside in the dirt every single night."

Ryker walked over to the washbasin, splashing water on his face. "Baby, we discussed this. We need the evening patrols to make sure the pack perimeter is completely safe. It’s standard security."

"It’s bullshit," Lyra shouted across the room. "You men just want to go out there into the woods, drink beer, smoke, and talk about women all night. It’s silly."

Rex raised her hands, a bright smile suddenly breaking across her face. "Hey, hey, that’s not actually why I’m here, okay? I came to tell you that I’m getting married."

Lyra froze, her blue eyes widening. "Oh my god, what?!"

"Yes," Rex said, her voice full of excitement. "Wayne proposed tonight while we were on patrol."

She paused, "it was a hard decision for him at first because he hasn't found his fated mate yet. He thought maybe it would be a bad choice because one day he might find her, and then I would end up single because he chose someone else. But tonight he decided that he’s made up his mind. He wants us to be together no matter what. He said he’s going to hope that wherever his fated mate is, she also marries someone else, or better still, maybe he just doesn't have one."

Ryker smiled warmly. "That is fantastic news. Congratulations, Rex. When is the wedding?"

"It’s nothing big," Rex shrugged. "We wanted it to be by this weekend."

Ryker’s brow furrowed. "Isn't that a little too soon?"

Rex let out a nervous chuckle, looking down at her boots. "Wayne thinks we should do it quickly because…I mean... there’s another news."

Lyra leaned forward. "Okay, what is going on? Spill it."

Rex swallowed hard but she could see the joy on her friend's face. "We... we're pregnant."

Lyra suddenly let out a loud, piercing scream. "Oh my goddess!"

Rex laughed, nodding her head. "Yeah, I know it's big news, and—"

But Lyra didn't stop, she kept screaming, her hands gripping her hair as she wailed from the bed.

Ryker rushed to her side, looking completely baffled. "Baby, come on, is it really that much of a shock? These two people have been fucking in the dark corners of the library for months now. Of course they would get pregnant eventually."

"I am not talking about their pregnancy, you idiot!" Lyra screamed as she grabbed Ryker’s wrists.

She looked down at the mattress as a thick pool of clear fluid soaked through the white sheets.

"I think my water just broke," Lyra gasped, her eyes locked onto his. "The babies are coming right now!"
