Chapter 55
Chapter 55
The morning sun filtered through the trees, casting long shadows across the clearing. Clara wiped sweat from her brow, muscles trembling from the intense drills Lyra had set up. Each movement was calculated, designed to push her reflexes, speed, and awareness to their limits.
“You’re getting faster,” Lyra said, bouncing lightly on her toes. “Your instincts are sharper. Now, focus on anticipating, not just reacting. You need to move like the threat doesn’t even exist until it’s right in front of you.”
Clara nodded, heart pounding, adrenaline surging. “I’m ready,” she said, determination in her voice.
Rowan arrived just as she pivoted to block an imaginary strike. His hazel eyes darkened as he watched her. Every movement she made, every controlled strike, every flicker of instinct reminded him why he could never let her go. He strode forward, hands brushing hers as he adjusted her stance, lips near her ear.
“You’re amazing,” he murmured, voice low and rough. “Faster, sharper… and I’ve never been more certain that I can trust you by my side.”
Clara shivered, heat rising in her chest. “I’m… learning from the best,” she whispered, letting his guidance flow into her movements.
Lyra smirked, noticing the subtle tension between them. “Looks like someone’s enjoying the alpha’s attention,” she teased, nudging Clara. “Don’t get distracted now.”
Clara blushed, but the moment was broken by the sound of distant movement. Rowan’s senses immediately sharpened. “Stay alert,” he said, eyes scanning the forest. “Even training can’t make you careless.”
The rest of the morning passed in a blur of drills, close calls, and precision maneuvers. By midday, they collapsed in the clearing, laughing breathlessly, muscles aching from exertion. Rowan leaned close, brushing a damp strand of hair from her face, eyes dark with intensity.
“You did incredible,” he murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to her temple. “And every time I watch you… I want you even more.”
Clara’s breath caught, heat pooling. “I… I want you too,” she admitted, voice trembling with desire and trust.
He captured her lips in a slow, deliberate kiss, hands roaming, claiming, reminding her—and himself—of the fire between them. The forest seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of them, breathless and connected, desire and trust intertwining.
Rowan pulled back slightly, forehead resting against hers. “We’ll face whatever comes next together,” he murmured. “Rogue or no rogue, danger or calm… you’re mine.”
“And I’m yours,” Clara whispered back, the bond between them deepening with every heartbeat, every touch, every shared glance.
The day faded into evening, but the intensity of their connection only grew, preparing them—body, mind, and soul—for the challenges that awaited.
