Chapter 58 58

Chapter 58 58

Lucien’s POV

The air smelled fresh, it was like any other morning, except it really wasn’t it felt like the calm before the dreadful storm that approached.

I watched her as she came down the stairs, a little smile parted my lips , not because I was glad to see her but because she smelled of lavender , a futile attempt to wash off the scent of my brother.

“I see you slept well.” I said as she walked past me, she tried to not make eye contact but that too was futile. “ I’m already late , I don’t want Alicia to find another excuse against me.“ she responded , still she didn’t stop.

I walked behind her, in a bid to slow her down, but her stride remained fast. “You’re going with Lillian today, so you can stop worrying about Alicia.” I said loud enough for everyone who cared to listen.

She turned around but still had the look of uncertainty. “ I’m Alpha, my word is law….go back and wait for Lillian.” I reassured her.

The relief I saw in her face was enough. She walked back to the cabin hurriedly. Alicia gave me a stare that was too bold to ignore. I gave her a nod that signaled she could approach.

She wasted no time closing the gap between us. “Why do you show the hybrid favoritism ? Just because she’s your mate doesn’t mean ……”

The glow in my eyes had cut her words short. She trembled at the mere hint of my anger.

“ Let me be very clear…..you and I were a one time thing, a mistake, a distant memory,……..she’s our future, and you will respect her or I will know the reason why.” I growled in her ear.

The fact that my aura was too intense made it so she couldn’t look at me she just stared at my feet.

“Now, you’re gonna be there to watch her , teach her our ways, and if need be protect her, is that clear?” I asked with the same tenacity in my voice and she nodded almost immediately.

I left her to go meet up with Jacob. Noah’s younger brother and leader of the younger betas. I walked for about five minutes when I found him. He was engrossed in a conversation with some younger wolves when he noticed me come up from behind him.

“What’s the word?” I asked. The younger wolves gave a slight bow in respect and excused us. Jacob sighed before he turned to look at me .

“Not much…they haven’t made any moves yet, they don’t look to be gearing up either.” he reported.

“That’s good, but that makes me wonder, if conflict can be avoided all together…” I said even though I was doubtful. One could say I was being naive.
Jacob and I strolled for a bit before we came across Damien and his men. They looked like they had been sparring. They were sweaty and a bit bruised up. Damien ,obviously the aggressor.

He smiled when he saw me. A smile of confidence, like he knew something I didn’t.

“What are you doing among the delinquents of the pack my dear brother, come to fuck around?” He said with a sarcastic tone. Of course he’d gloat about something like that .

Actually I wanted to talk to you, about Rhea. The fact that I was unbothered by his verbal jabs always ticked him off. He gave me a scowl. “ you’re no fucking fun.” he said as he waved his hand and dispersed of his warriors.

“What did you wanna rap about, I don’t have much time,” he sneered. I looked around and the leaned in to whisper in his ear. “You insecure bitch, you just had to fuck her on your own too,” I said trying to hold back my laughter.

He tried to be straight faced but broke character soon after. “ You can’t tell me it wasn’t worth it,” he replied after catching his breath.

“I know, turns out she’s more open minded than I thought, I can’t wait to find out what else she’s into.” Damien said with a gleam across his face. He really enjoyed himself with her. Not to sound like a hypocrite but I did have quite the time myself.

But now that I had broken the ice, it was time to get serious. Damien I don’t want us to go take any unnecessary risk, for now. And before you say anything, I’m not asking to not stay prepared. But don’t starting a war should be our last resort.”

He was silent for a little bit, as if he was contemplating whether to argue or accept that I was right. Eventually he nodded and proceeded to put on his shirt.

“So , now that we have that settled, what’s the plan for Rhea, for the pack, how do we make it all work out, I can definitely sense some resistance.” I asked him as I began to walk back to the camp.

“Our word is Law, they won’t challenge it, at least not openly.” he replied. And he was right. As long as we stood firm, no one could challenge our decision for a mate.

“The annual Lunar hunt is coming up. How about we show Rhea the fun parts of being a werewolf. I bet she could connect really well with the pack during the festival.” I suggested.

“ I don’t care, I’d take any excuse to drink , hunt and definitely fuck” Damien blurted.

As expected, but then again he was being himself. Nonchalant, and Unapologetic. He refused to be judged by the mistakes our mother made .

While I carry the burden of redeeming our Legacy. After a couple of minutes we met a gathering where the young maiden of the pack gathered.

They were talking about their first transformations and right there in the middle, I saw Rhea and Lillian as they paid attention.

“You know she’s gonna be trouble though.” Damien whispered as he drew my attention to where Alicia was standing.

“You leave Alicia to me Damien.” I’ll make sure she falls in line .
