Chapter 80 : Black Fog
Chapter 80 : Black Fog
Aniya crashed to the floor with the witch’s weight, she felt her head hit the wall too and that was when everything started to blur.
Black dots around the corners of her eyes.
She felt like she was drowning while her consciousness kept trying to resurface from the depths.
She moved her dagger around, trying to kill, but it was knocked out of her hand quickly. Her lack of expertise in combat and welding the dagger, dealing her with a life threatening disadvantage.
In… and out.
In… and out.
Flashes!
That was all she could see.
She could herself grunting, her breath coming out in ragged pants as she fought. The blackness around the corners of her eyes increased, then she smelt it.
She felt the cold blade of the witch’s dagger around her belly, a pain shot through her.
She froze… and in a flash she felt it.
Blood.
She smelt it too. She struggled to stand, to even press her hands against her stomach where the pain was spreading from. But she could nothing. She coulkdn’t even move. Every part of her felt like steel, and her strength seemed to have vanished amidst the struggle.
Tears welled up in her eyes. Which made it even harder to see anything, along with this unconsciousness that kept pulling her away.
Every second felt like a century and a flash at the same time.
It was the strangest feeling.
The witch’s laughter echoed in Aniya’s ears as she heard her walk away. She could see her boots, the ends of the hood that was stained with blood.
Aniya’s blood.
Then it hit her.
The darkness was becoming too much. She couldn’t hold on to the light. A fog of darkness filled the room, it was her consciousness slipping away from her.
The fog took form into—- no, she was just seeing things.
Finally.
Blackness.
A cold tear ran down the corner of her eye and her mind whispered one word—-
Arlo.

Ikrus had gotten there too late,
He knew it.
It was those suppressants that Veris had given him. They numbed him to the point that he almost couldn’t feel his own feelings. But the sharp pain of almost losing a mate was so wreaking that had it pierced through the suppressants so hard, he found himself in that dungeon.
He had found blood rushing out of Aniya’s stomach. Found a hood and a cloak with nothing but blood, bones and a long chain in it. Found two daggers on the floor. Found the soldier who was probably assigned to guide the bars, with his head detached from the rest of his body.
His anger was raw. In the past hour he had rained it on the soldiers that had arrested Aniya, rained it on gis sister whose pleas had fallen on his deaf ears and rained it on his step mother, whose words of care and affection had no sway on him.
More than his anger though, was his question.
What had happened in that dungeon?
