Chapter 75 : Locked Away
Hands grabbed her immediately, then she felt Arlo being ripped away from her. His cries pierced the roof of the hall and struggled to get him back but the guards held her firmly away.
“Give me back my son!” She yelled.
But the guards handed Arlo to Oana instead and she held him securely against her.
“Your son should not have to suffer for the crimes of his mother!” Oana snapped, her face tight with fury.
All Aniya could hear were the cries of her son and her racing heartbeat.
“What crimes?” She tried to play ignorant and Pana laughed.
“On the order of the Luna, you have now been arrested for the attempted murder of the Gamma.”
A bitter taste spread through Aniya’s mouth as the guards began to drag her away. Her body shook with rage, her breath hot with fury.
“Murder?! As if I could do anything to him. What about his blatant threats on my life? That is permitted! Just take me back to where I belong! Let me go! Give me my son! Let me go home!”
But her screams only blended into the cries of he son who would not keep quiet despite Oana’s attempts to calm him.
“Mama! Mama!” She could hear him scream over and over again.
She fought the guards as much as she could, but the guards c easily overpowered her every move.
The next thing she knew, she was tossed in a dungeon. She heard the bars slam shut behind her and she quickly ran to them, holding the bars as they turned the key in the lock.
“I want to see Ikrus! Get me your Gamma!”
The guards stopped, looked at one another.
Aniya blinked.
Was it happening again?
Did they fear her? Like what had happened in the hallwa—-
HAHAHAHAHA!
The laughter of the guards rocked the silence of the cold dungeons.
A cold feeling washed over Aniya and her hands dropped from the bars.
The guards began to speak in their language, laughing even harder as they turned their backs to her and walked away.
Their laughter did not leave the walls of her dungeon u til they were far, far, gone.
Tears prickled at the corners of Anita’s eyes.
Foolish.
It was the only word she could think of.
She was such a fool!
She was alone here. Had always been. How could she have requested for time when presented with a leverage. Marriage to one with a higher hierarchy had always been something to help one’s status. It couldn’t be any different here.
Yes, it wasn’t going to guarantee her and her son’s lives but it couldn’t be that useless. Ikrus was like the son of a king. His father hated him but he still had royal blood.
She chuckled to herself, the sound dry to her ears.
Time.
She was such a fool. Giving time to such thoughts, trying to understand her feelings in relation to what she was presented with. Fool!
Marriage was just a tool. Marriage to Ikrus would be exactly that. A tool. While she actually worked on what would get her out here. Till then, she needed some means of protection.
Exactly.
She was alone. Oana wasn’t truly a friend, although that she had always known. It was just that lately, the line was beginning to blur. But it didn’t anymore. She could see everything clearly now.
She had been arrested upon the Luna’s order. Of course, the Luna hated her and was just waiting for her to do something wrong ever since that encounter with her.
And Ikrus.
Ikrus must have told Oana about what she had done to him. Of course, she was his sister.
They were family. They would pick Ikrus over her. Ones was the originating point of all her problems.
She had to get out of this realm with her son. She has to do it quickly.
As much as she hated it. She needed one person. She needed Ikrus.
She allowed a free flow of her feelings, hoping that it would affect him and pull him towards her. She wondered if it would work though. He seemed not to even be in the castle. What if Oana and the Luna had convinced him to agree to this? Told him that she would become even more dangerous in the future and convinced him to agree to this? What if he had only not been there for her arrest because he couldn’t look at her?
What if all that was left for her was the Alpha’s judgement proclaiming her death?
What if—-
She heard the bars move and she swung her attention to the gate quickly, and her heart dropped.
That wasn’t Ikrus.
