CHAPTER TWENTY NINE
CHAPTER TWENTY NINE
Silvana's Point Of View
I stared at Lachlan in disbelief. There was no way in this world he just said Eryk would take over Zephyr's place.
There was no fucking possible way he just said that. I refuse to believe that.
Eryk Shadepelt, a tyrant who was known for his ruthlessness, his thirst for power. He was a formidable warrior, yes, but also a fucking tyrant. One, that even rogues feared, not even the strongest Lycans dared to cross his path, he killed every soul that dared to look him directly in the eye....until Garrick.
The only man who dared to challenge him and left unharmed, taking one of Eryk's eyeballs with him off course.
Ever since then, Eryk disappeared, no one really cared to know why or where he went. News about him was only heard from time to time and that was because of the disasters he caused in small villages. But his reputation had already died down, I mean....a mighty tyrant was humbled by a young naive Alpha....who wouldn't be ashamed?
"Alpha Zephyr had no children, neither did he have any siblings. His cousin, Eryk, is the only option we have," Lachlan explained, his face hardening.
Oh hell no.
If Eryk was to become the Alpha of the white wolves then it's game over. The war between him and Garrick would be unstoppable and one of the most chaotic claiming lives.
The WhiteWolves are like the most important clan in this realm. One mistake, it could cost us everything.
Almost as if Lachlan read my mind, he nodded and let out a sigh. "It would indeed be chaotic for us all. The implications are a bit clear, Luna. Eryk's ascension to power would destabilize the entire realm, plunging us all into a dark age of tyranny and oppression,"
"Isn't there no other way out?"
"No," he shook his head. "He's the rightful heir as his cousin. We all thought Alpha Zephyr would remarry and try again- but unfortunately....he passed away before he could even heal from his late Luna's death,"
"Something doesn't feel right," I whispered in a low tone. "Something is just not right,"
"You're right Luna," he said as he helped me get up to my feet. "Something sure isn't right."
Just then, the door opened and Ravenna and Garrick walked out.
"Well," Ravenna said, rubbing her hands together. "My work here is done," she turned to Garrick, her eyes gleaming with a strange satisfaction that made my stomach churn. "Heed my warnings, Alpha. And remember if you need anything at all, I'm here to help," A smirk tugged at her lips as she leaned in closer. "Anything at all."
The way she said 'help' was suggestive, her tone flirty. I couldn't help but notice how seductive she was toward him, the subtle way of her hips, the smirk tugged on her lips, how she stared at him....it made me sick. I could feel my jealousy and unease growing by the second.
She then trailed her eyes to me, then to my neck, and smiled. "Zephyr was a good and thoughtful man. Too bad he's no longer with us. However, Eryk will be a good choice,"
"That's bullshit Ravenna," I blurted out, the words escaping before I could stop them. A surge of anger coursed through me, overriding my fear and grief. "Eryk is the worst possible choice ever, the fact you're supporting him doesn't seem right,"
"Oh darling," she chuckled as she shook her head. "I'm not supporting him. Rather, I'm stating facts, you may not like him but in a matter like this favoritism doesn't matter. The right thing does,"
I arched a brow as I folded my arms across my chest. "And Eryk is the right choice?" I asked.
"Yes,"
"He's a tyrant Ravenna! The legends-"
"Can be wrong," she interrupted, a dismissive flick of her wrist punctuating the statement. "Don't believe everything you hear, Morgana. And I know you're worried about dear Garrick, that's why I came if you must know. Even if Eryk tries anything funny, it won't harm him or his people, I made sure to that,"
"And why does a dark witch care so much about the Alpha of the stonefang pack?" I asked, folded my arms tighter.
This whole situation reeked of something.....off.
"Why?" She smiled, using her tongue to trace her upper teeth. "Welllll," she drawled, dragging the word out like a particularly delectable secret. "We used to be a thing."
WHAT?!!!
My jaw practically hit the floor. "You and....Garrick? This Garrick?!" I gasped, my eyes trailing to Garrick who just shifted uncomfortably. The thought of these two even sharing oxygen, let alone dating was utterly absurd.
Garrick finally reacted, he sighed as he ran his hand through his hair in frustration. "It wasn't serious, Morgana. Just a fling from years ago. Ravenna is exaggerating. Wildly,"
"Oh," Ravenna's smirk deepened. "I don't think it was, you seemed really serious back then,"
"Trust me, it was just for the fun of it, nothing more," he said in a tone devoid of any warmth. I saw Ravenna's shoulder tense, but she quickly composed herself.
"Sure, for the fun of it," she mocked him, her whole body vibrating as she laughed.
"Shut up," Garrick spat as he looked down at her. "Your work here is done, you may leave."
"Awww," she faked pouted as she twirled her dark hair with her finger. "Too bad, your loss."
She flickered her wrist and a bright smoke appeared, just as soon as it appeared it disappeared and so did Ravenna. I tilted my head to my side to see Lachlan leaning against the wall, his gaze fixed elsewhere, almost as if he wasn't present. From his nonchalant behavior, I could tell that Ravenna and Garrick's relationship wasn't a hidden thing.
Fuck, I feel so jealous.
"Morgana," Garrick's voice shook me from my thoughts. I slowly walked up to him.
"Yeah?"
He reached out and held my hand in his. "We have things to do, come on."
