"Are you planning to kick me, an old lady, out as well?" Madam Martínez said, walking out with a cane, taking a protective stance.
Then, Haley stood in front of Barbara with an attitude.
Barbara's mother, suppressing her anger, said tremblingly, "Mom, that's not what I meant. You just saw it. Haley showed no respect and even laid hands on her cousin. With her arrogant personality, she will disrupt the peace of the Martínez family. I am also considering the well-being of the Martínez family..."
"I think it is you who disrupts the peace of the Martínez family!" Steven angrily interrupted, "If you don't welcome Haley, then go back to your mother's house!"
Barbara's aunt, a member of the Martínez family, felt humiliated by her own mother-in-law and husband's public scolding, losing all her dignity.
But she didn't dare to say anything more.
She reluctantly helped Barbara to her feet and grabbed the still crying Jerry, leading them both straight upstairs.
Even though this incident concluded, Haley couldn't calm her heart.
It was only her first day back, and things had already turned out like this.
In the future, who knows what other troubles these people will cause?
She wasn't afraid of her aunt and older cousin, but Angela was still young, and Haley couldn't watch her every second of the day. If these people found an opportunity to mock and bully her, it would probably worsen Angela's condition.
It seemed that living here was not a wise choice.
Perhaps sensing her thoughts, Grandma Martínez sighed and said, "Haley, you have made up your mind, and I can't change that. But can you live in the house that your grandmother arranged for you? That way, I will feel reassured."
Haley hesitated for a moment and nodded slowly.
"I plan to throw a banquet for you, so that everyone will know that the most beautiful woman in Cuenca, Haley, has returned alive," Grandma Martínez patted her hand and said, "After the banquet is over, you can move out."
Todd pulled on her sleeve. "Mommy, I will take care of Angela, don't worry."
Barbara's aggressive demeanor, Haley wasn't completely at ease.
However, she hadn't seen her grandmother in many years and should stay here for a few days. After the banquet was over, she would move out immediately.
Because she was too worried about Barbara bullying the children, the next day when Haley went to the Martínez Group, she took the two kids with her.
This time when Haley went to the Martínez Group, she was going to implant the microchip that she had developed into the company's product program.
The driver was in the front seat, while she and the two kids sat in the back seat.
"Todd, you and your sister can play in the lounge while mommy finishes her work. I'll take you both back home when I'm done, okay?"
Todd nodded. "Mommy, I won't let anyone bully my sister, don't worry."
"Go to work."
"You're such a good child."
Haley patted his head and kissed her daughter's face.
The little girl's beautiful face was soft like a marshmallow, and Haley couldn't resist pinching it.
"Mommy, why are you secretly teasing my sister!"
Todd quickly intervened.
Haley felt a little guilty. "Ahem, Angela is just too cute and adorable, I couldn't help it..."
Suddenly，the car brake was suddenly applied.
The three people in the back seat went forward at the same time.
Then, there was a loud bang.
"Sorry, Ms. DeRoss, it seems that we hit the car in front, I'll go down and handle it." The driver apologized with a remorseful face, then opened the door and got out of the car.
Haley checked on the two little ones, and they were both fine...
However, Angela, who was usually absent-minded, suddenly grabbed the car door handle and pushed hard.
The door opened a crack.
"Angela, this is a main road, you can't open the car door." Haley instinctively closed the door.
But the little girl pushed it open again.
Taking advantage of Haley's slow reaction, Angela hunched her back and ran out of the car.
A man slowly got out of the car that was hit in front.
He was a man with a powerful aura, dressed in a black suit, tall and well-built, and his face exuded coldness.
The driver of the Martínez family did not recognize this man, but he could still feel his powerful aura.
The aura emanating from this man was even more intimidating than Steven, the head of the Martínez family.
The driver trembled and said, "We, we are fully responsible, sir..."
Ivan's face was frosty.
He usually had a driver, but the driver was seriously ill today, so he had to drive himself.
He didn't expect to be rear-ended as soon as he left.
He was impatient to deal with such things, but he had to handle it.
He was about to speak when a pink and tender glutinous rice ball suddenly rushed towards him and plunged into his arms.
Ivan's entire demeanor changed immediately.
He had a very, very serious aversion to germs.
He hated being touched by strangers the most.
He quickly took a step back, trying to avoid the child.
But as he stepped back, the pink ball followed and held onto his leg.
His face turned even darker. "Let go."
These two words made the surrounding temperature suddenly drop, as if it were the coldest winter.
The driver's heart stopped in fear, and he hurriedly leaned forward. "Angela, let go quickly..."
He wanted to hold the child, but Angela didn't want to be touched at all. She turned her head and bit the back of the driver's hand.
Blood immediately started to flow.
Ivan's face grew even darker. This unexpected situation...
Smart child, surprisingly strong attack!
He raised his hand, grabbing the back collar of Angela to lifte her up.
Their eyes met.
The little girl opened her eyes wide, her pupils pitch black, shining particularly bright, like stars in the night.
She had a fluffy head of hair, like a furry little kitten.
Such a child softened Ivan's cold heart a lot.
He spoke in a deep voice, "Who are you?"
Perhaps his voice was too cold and hard, the little girl actually shrank her neck in fear.
Ivan felt a second of annoyance.
Before he could understand why he was annoyed, suddenly, a snowy white hand reached over and snatched the rice dumpling in midair.
With his hand empty, he unexpectedly felt a sense of emptiness in his heart as well.
"Sir, on behalf of my daughter, I apologize to you. If she has offended you in any way, please forgive her as she is just a child," Haley said slowly, holding Angela in her arms.
She was extremely surprised.
Her daughter, who usually avoided strangers like the plague, actually took the initiative to hold onto a man's leg.
She really wanted to know why.
But this man was cold and fierce, clearly not someone to be trifled with.
Moreover, she faintly felt that this man was somewhat familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere...
Wait a minute!
A flash crossed Haley's mind, and she exclaimed in astonishment, "Excuse me, are you Mr. Winston?"
