"Ms. DeRoss, how dare you show up in front of everyone after all the ugly things you did...?”
These questions were more and more provocative.
However, Haley had anticipated them when deciding to attend the banquet.
There was not much embarrassment on her face, but her voice was as cold as a blade: "On this occasion today, I would like to announce that I, Haley, have no more relationship with the DeRoss family."
"As for the scandalous photos from four or five years ago..." Her eyes glanced around, "Most of the ladies present here have boyfriends or fiancés, I presume. If I were to spend some money to have paparazzi follow you, I'm sure the headlines in Cuenca for the next half year would be the scandalous photos of all of you."
Her words caused the faces of the high-class ladies present to change.
They were all young ladies from wealthy families and usually had nothing serious to do, so dating was considered normal.
And nowadays, it was not uncommon for dating to lead to intimate encounters.
If they were followed by someone with ill intentions, they would definitely be caught in compromising situations...
For a while, no one in the room refuted her.
Louis finished his drink in one gulp, "Sharp-tongued, indeed a woman not to be messed with."
Ivan clenched his jaw.
This woman's words attacked the high-class ladies present, but they also pulled herself down.
She was indirectly admitting that the scandalous photos from five years ago were real.
In other words, she had indeed slept with that wild man...
Ivan felt an inexplicable anger.
But upon further thought, he realized it was not surprising.
If a woman hadn't slept with a man, how could she have given birth to a daughter!
He was going crazy!
He allowed himself to be influenced by such a disgraceful woman.
At this moment, the rumors in the banquet hall finally quieted down.
Haley breathed a sigh of relief.
Although she didn't care about these words, she couldn't withstand being surrounded by so many people.
She picked up her glass and was about to go over to make a toast.
A woman in a yellow dress suddenly stepped forward, "Ms. DeRoss, four years ago, did you really give birth to a pair of stillborn twins?"
One sentence made Haley's face instantly turn cold.
Those two deceased children were the untouchable sore spot in her heart.
She raised her eyebrows and looked at the woman who asked the question, instantly recognizing her as Daisy Croix, her cousin Barbara's close friend.
Daisy must have been instigated by Barbara to ask such a question.
Haley felt that his previous slap was light.
It seems that Barbara needs to be taught one more lesson.
Seeing that Haley's face changed, Daisy sneered and said, "It seems to be true. It turns out that our first beauty of Cuenca has given birth, but it's a pity that the baby died, otherwise I really want to see if those two children have inherited the beauty of the first beauty."
Every word she said was cut like a knife in Haley's heart.
She looked up, the blade appeared in her eyes, and before she could speak, there was a playful voice behind her.
Louis came over with the corners of his lips and his eyes fell on Daisy's belly: "Excuse me, how many months has Daisy been?"
Daisy was stunned: "How many months?"
"With such a big belly, you must be pregnant, let me guess, four months?"
The malicious smile in the corner of Louis's mouth slowly magnified.
Daisy's face turned bright red. Despite coming from a good family and having good looks, her only flaw was being overweight. Especially her stomach, which was covered in excess flesh. Even if she wore the loosest dress, she couldn't hide the fat all over her body.
So she was envious of Haley, jealous of her good looks and figure... But before she could make Haley look bad, she made a fool of herself first.
Daisy gritted her teeth and said, "I'm not even married, how could I be pregnant? Louis, your words could easily cause misunderstandings."
"Oh, so you know that such words can cause misunderstandings? Then why did you intentionally ask Ms. DeRoss the same question?" Louis mocked, "With your figure, you haven't even given birth, so Ms. DeRoss definitely hasn't either."
Daisy was stabbed again and felt so embarrassed that she wanted to find a hole to hide in. She stomped her foot, gritted her teeth, and disappeared into the crowd.
Haley didn't expect that someone would speak up for her at a time like this, especially Louis, who she had shoulder-thrown just yesterday.
She smiled slightly and said, "Thank you, Mr. Granger, for helping me out. Let's have a drink."
Louis quickly clinked his glass with hers and said, "Ms. DeRoss, we met five years ago. Do you remember?"
Haley nodded lightly.
Five years ago, Louis was already a well-known playboy in Cuenca. How could she have not met him?
She vaguely remembered that her father and stepmother had wanted to marry her into the Granger family...
While the two were talking, Ivan and Mark also approached. When Ivan came over, the surrounding temperature suddenly dropped several degrees.
Haley couldn't possibly ignore this man.
She calmly said, "I have to go toast over there. Please excuse me."
"Hey, Ms. DeRoss, don't rush. Let me introduce you. This is my good friend Ivan and Mark," Louis said with a smile.
Haley nodded and greeted them politely, then turned and walked towards the toast area.
Ivan's gaze followed her, his eyes filled with undisguised interest and desire.
Ms. DeRoss, I'm free anyway, so let's go together," Louis stuck to her like a shadow.
Seeing this, Ivan suddenly felt annoyed.
He coldly said, "Louis, are you so eager to become a stepfather to someone else's child?"
As soon as he said these words, he immediately felt that something was wrong.
Was he going crazy? He actually said such things.
But the words were already spoken, and it was impossible to take them back.
He stood tall with a cold expression on his face.
Louis scratched his chin, "Ms. DeRoss shouldn't have any children..."
Haley has such a great figure, it's impossible for her to have had children!
Even if she did, didn't the news say they were already dead?
Although he had been with many women, he had never thought of getting involved with a woman who had children, because such women are not easy to handle and very troublesome...
And Haley, her fingers stiffened.
She didn't let the two children attend tonight's banquet at all.
Because if the two children appeared, they would definitely be labeled as bastards, illegitimate children.
She would never allow such a thing to happen.
Until everything settled down, she wouldn't expose the two children to the public eye.
But Ivan already knew about Angela's existence.
This man had no standing to keep her secret.
Haley raised her eyes and looked at Ivan with a hint of coldness, saying lightly, "Mr. Winston, can we talk privately for a while?"
Ivan nodded coldly and turned to walk towards the balcony.
Haley followed with a lifted hem.
"Damn!" Louis exclaimed in astonishment, "I was the one who saved the beauty, why does Ivan get to take advantage?"
Mark patted his shoulder sympathetically, "You don't have Ivan's handsome looks, nor his wealth. Any woman, as long as her eyes aren't blind, knows who to choose."
