Chapter 302 Finally Found Her Weakness!
Chapter 302 Finally Found Her Weakness!
But Lillian wouldn't let it go. "Being late and skipping work are two different things! If you were just late from lunch, that would be one thing! But you actually snuck out during work hours to go on a date with your boyfriend!"
Grace suddenly saw Lillian for who she really was!
Lillian was the type of person who couldn't stand seeing others do well, especially those better off than herself!
Dealing with this kind of person was simple.
Grace didn't need to get angry or argue with her. She just needed to let Lillian know that her life was better, and that would drive her crazy!
Grace suddenly stuck out her tongue at her and smiled mischievously. "Yes! I did ditch work to go on a date. Didn't you already snitch to my supervisor? Go ahead and dock my bonus. Since I'm losing my bonus anyway, I'll be late tomorrow, the day after, and every day from now on. I'll spend every lunch break going on dates with my boyfriend!"
Lillian slammed her hand on the desk and shot up. "Then don't bother coming to work! What do you think this place is? Your own personal playground where you can do whatever you want?"
Grace shrugged innocently. "Yeah, I do think of this place as my home. If you're so capable, go report me to the supervisor, report me to Mr. Nelson, and have me fired!"
Lillian was absolutely seething!
She stood up and declared loudly enough for the entire office to hear, "You think I won't? Grace, just you wait!"
With that, she stormed off to Stanley's office.
All the colleagues in the office stood up, eager to watch the drama unfold.
Someone snickered maliciously, "Grace, you're done for!"
"How dare you mess with Lillian? She's the star player of the project team! She has serious pull!"
"Why did you have to go head-to-head with her? At a time like this, you should have groveled and begged for forgiveness. Now that you've crossed her, you deserve to get fired!"
They all thought Grace had been cornered by Lillian and was just putting on a brave face to save her dignity.
Grace couldn't be bothered with the various looks and scrutinizing gazes. She calmly logged into her computer and continued with her work.
After all, she took her job seriously. If Lillian wanted to complain and get her fired, she'd just have to go home in tears and become a full-time housewife.
Grace thought about it - no matter how hard she worked her entire life, she could never earn even a fraction of Alexander's wealth.
With such capable sons and husband, why shouldn't she just coast along?
In Stanley's office, Lillian delivered an impassioned speech, fabricating various charges against Grace before looking expectantly at Stanley.
"Mr. Nelson, keeping an employee like this under your supervision will only damage your reputation!"
Under the guise of looking out for him, Lillian hinted without directly saying that Stanley should fire Grace immediately!
Stanley frowned and took a deep breath, looking at Lillian. "Alright, go back to work. I'll have a proper talk with her later."
Lillian nodded. "Mr. Nelson, I'm only thinking of what's best for you and the project team! Crest Corporation can't tolerate this kind of troublemaker!"
Then she suddenly thought of something and whispered, "Mr. Nelson, you don't know - this woman has been bragging around the office that her fiancé is going to propose to her. She claims her boyfriend is also an employee of this company, earning six figures, a local with property and cars! Now she seems to think that since her boyfriend will support her after marriage, she can do whatever she wants. If she dares to skip lunch breaks today, tomorrow she'll skip entire work days! This is unacceptable! And... you should look into her boyfriend!"
Stanley's eyelid twitched violently. "What about her boyfriend?"
Lillian continued, "She skipped work to go on a date with him. He's probably using company time for personal activities too! These two are like parasites in Crest Corporation!"
Stanley pressed his lips together, his eyelid twitching even more. "Is that really something you should be saying so carelessly?"
Lillian was stunned.
Stanley said irritably, "Just go back to work!"
Lillian felt something was off.
Stanley's tone had suddenly become very impatient. She didn't know what she'd said wrong, but Mr. Nelson would definitely have a talk with Grace!
Lillian walked out of Stanley's office smugly and returned to her desk.
As soon as she sat down, Stanley's assistant came over to call Grace.
Grace put down her work and went to Stanley's office.
The moment Grace entered Stanley's office, the entire workplace erupted!
"Here comes the show!"
"Let's see how dejected she looks when she comes out!"
"Who told her to be so arrogant, thinking Crest Corporation was her personal playground where she could do whatever she wanted!"
"Just wait, Mr. Nelson will definitely fire her!"
Lillian elegantly sipped her coffee, unable to hide her satisfaction.
She'd been looking for something to nail Grace with, and finally she'd caught her red-handed!
She couldn't wait to see Grace crying as she packed up her things and left!
Stanley would surely give her a harsh scolding and kick her out of the company.
In the office.
Grace sat down across from him.
Stanley looked at her and asked, "Did she just berate you?"
Grace shook her head. "No, but she wasn't very pleasant with me. Did she come here to tattle on me?"
She could easily guess what Lillian had told Stanley.
Stanley said, "Don't mind her. Why were you so late getting back at lunch today?"
Grace replied, "It's my son's birthday, so I went to buy him a present."
Stanley asked, "Mr. Hayes went with you?"
Grace said, "Yes."
Stanley offered, "Want me to help you switch seats?"
Currently Grace sat diagonally across from Lillian, and they could see each other constantly. Lillian was always picking fights.
Stanley wanted to arrange for her to sit somewhere farther from Lillian.
But Grace declined, "No need! I really like that seat."
Stanley worried, "I'm afraid she'll bully you."
Grace smiled, "Just watch and see who's really bullying whom."
With that, she stood up, gave a slight smile, and walked out of the office.
The employees waiting to watch the drama were shocked to see Grace walking out with a smile. They all stared in disbelief.
Lillian's hand holding her coffee cup froze, and the smile on her face froze too.
She never expected Grace to walk out smiling and return to her desk as if nothing had happened, continuing with her work!
Stanley hadn't said anything to her?
She'd thought Stanley would definitely tell her to pack up and get lost!
Now the tables had turned, and it was Lillian who felt embarrassed!
Everyone looked at her as if silently asking what exactly she'd told Stanley, and why Grace hadn't been punished.
Lillian's face burned with embarrassment. She frowned but held her tongue!
6:30 PM.
Grace clocked out.
Alexander was waiting for her in the parking garage as usual.
