Chapter 93
"Hurry up Monalisa, we wouldn't want to miss our flight" Donald called out to me.
"I'm coming" the I came running down the stairs, dragging the last box of mine.
I paused at the the last step to take get the last look of Donald's beautiful mansion that brought life to me.
"Monalisa, quick" Donald gestured at me before running off, dragging Joshua's last box along.
Beatrice came running with Joshua.
I followed immediately to the car.
Beatrice was already tearing up and couldn't bring herself to wish me goodbye.
I hugged Beatrice and she kissed my cheeks.
Beatrice gave Joshua a warm hug , followed by Julio's children.
I gave them the final wave before getting into the car with Joshua.
I settled in and exhaled.
My heart raced quickly and I noticed I was tearing up already.
I dipped my hand into my bag and brought out my handkerchief and wiped off my tears.
"Are you crying mum? Why are you crying? Didn't you say we'll be back soon after making sure the launching was a success? Isn't it some kind of vacation mum? Joshua asked, touching my palm.
"Yes dear. Mummy is a bit emotional because she will miss everyone."
"Don't be mum. you've got me by your side. If you miss anyone, then I'll be that person, and all you have to do is cuddle me, and you'll feel much better, okay mum?
"Yes dear" I pulled him in and kissed his forehead. "My baby Josh has actually grown into a loving and handsome gentleman "
"Yes, thanks to dad who raised me to be just like him, right dad"
"Right "
Julio dropped us off at the airport and we met up with Melissa and Thomas. We boarded the same flight down to Las Vegas.
We had a safe flight to Las Vegas, and boarded a taxi to Tricia's apartment.
I let down the window and popped out my head letting the air of Las Vegas grace my face. It's been a while.
I'm back home. I'm back to the city that built me and destroyed me and left me back to square one. The city that I found love and got my first heart break and the city that planted a beautiful fruit inside of me, that made my journey in New York city a lovely one.
"Mum, Las Vegas looks nice. It's bubbling"
"Yes dear. It's really bubbling"
Then our car came to a stop because the red light had come on.
I looked up and my gaze fell on the billboard on the right side.
The billboard had the picture of the one person who taught me how to love and broke my heart, Jayden's pictures.
Jayden was looking so hot in that picture being displayed.
He had won an award, the businessman of the half year and he looks awesome, holding that award.
I couldn't look away.
"Mum, the man in the billboard looks handsome. mum, who is he?
"Who? He...uhm... he's someone, a human being"
"Obviously he is. I meant, is he the president?
I giggled and kissed Joshua's forehead.
"No. He's not. He's...I turned to the billboard. "He's someone we shouldn't bother ourselves with, okay?
"Okay, if you say so"
The green light came up and we moved.
Donald turned back to us.
"Monalisa, are you okay? he had seen the billboard too and noticed my reaction
"Oh yes, I'm good, thank you"
A few minutes later, we arrived at Tricia's apartment .
Tricia was already outside waiting for us to come.
She ran quickly to us in excitement.
I quickly got out of the car and ran to her.
we hugged and held eachother tight..We jumped and screamed, hugging and kissing each other's cheeks and forehead, tearing up
"I missed you so much Bess" Tricia said.
"I missed you more Bess".
We hugged again.
"Mum! Joshua ran to me and held my hand.
"Mum, who is she?
"Oh! Tricia, this Is my son Joshua"
"Aww... He's so cute"
"Hey! I'm not cute. I'm not a baby but a mature gentleman. I'm handsome cause that's the appropriate word to use to describe a gentleman's beauty, right mum?
Tricia stared at me, eyes wide open.
"What is he talking about?
"That's Joshua for you, for us. Joshua, meet Tricia, mum's best friend and sister"
"Really? Hi auntie Tricia. it's so nice to finally meet you."
Joshua said hugging Tricia
"Oh! He's such a gentleman." Tricia said.
"Hi Tricia, it's been a while" Donald said placing a box carefully on the floor
"Hi Donald. It's been a while. I see what you did here, and I must say, you did a great job"
"Thank you"
"You know my dad too? Joshua asked Tricia.
"Dad? He calls you dad?
"Why not? He's my dad, right mum and dad?
"Yes boy, I'm your dad" Donald replied pulling Joshua back and placed his hands on his shoulders
"Oh? I see. Someone has been left behind. I didn't notice I was living in an old and abandoned ship"
"Tricia. At least take us inside. Crazy"
"My bad Bess. sure, you all can come in"
"Hello ma'am good evening" Thomas greeted.
"You are a terrible dude. you ain't no gentleman. You let me carry this...oh hi miss Tricia" Melissa greeted.
"Who are they? Tricia asked..
"Oh She's Melissa, my secretary and P. A and he's Thomas, my assistant too. They'll be staying over here with us all tonight and leave for their apartment tomorrow morning"
"What!! Where? Which room?
"Uh! Thomas raised his hand. "I don't mind sleeping in the living room"
"Me too" Melissa added.
"I already claimed the living room"
"Can't you share?
"No. I can't share with a wild woman like you"
"How dare you call me wild!!
"Of course you are wild"
"Guys! behave. My apologies Bess"
"Are they always like this? Tricia asked.
"Yes. my apologies. May we go in now?
"Sure come on in. The house is all yours"
"I'll get the rest of the things from the car. Come Thomas" Donald said and walked out
"Yes sir"
"Thomas and Melissa, please behave here, okay?
"Yes ma'am" both echoed.
