Chapter 116

Chapter 116
Athena pulled up to Jayden's house, the sleek mansion looming before her like a fortress. She rang the doorbell twice, her foot tapping impatiently on the pavement. The door swung open, and Athena's eyes widened in surprise as she took in the sight of Cynthia standing before her.

Cynthia's eyes narrowed, her expression cold and calculating. "What the fuck are you doing here?" she spat, her voice venomous. "If I remember clearly, it's Sunday and you do not work on Sundays."

Athena rolled her eyes, a smirk twisting her lips. "I also remember that you do not work on Sundays either," she shot back, her voice laced with sarcasm.

Cynthia's face reddened, her anger palpable. "What? What are you trying to say?" she demanded, her voice rising.

Athena's eyes flashed with annoyance. "Get the fuck out of my way. Move," she said, her voice firm as she pushed Cynthia aside and hurried into the house.

Jayden, who had been lounging in the courtyard, heard the commotion and strode into the living room, his eyes scanning the scene before him. Cynthia was grabbing Athena's hand, trying to drag her out, her face twisted in anger.

"Let her go!" Jayden barked, his voice commanding.

Cynthia's grip on Athena's hand tightened, but she slowly released her hold, her eyes flashing with resentment.

Athena turned to Jayden, her eyes locked onto his. "I need to discuss something really important with you in private, right now," she said, her voice urgent.

Jayden nodded, his expression serious. "Yes. Let's go," he replied, his voice firm.

Cynthia's eyes narrowed, her voice shrill. "Where are you two going to, and what's that?"

Athena's eyes flashed with annoyance. "I'm the secretary and not you. Stay within your limits, woman!" she snapped, her voice biting.

Jayden's eyes flicked to Cynthia, his expression warning her to back off. "This way, Athena," he said, his voice calm and soothing.

Athena followed Jayden, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that this conversation was going to be crucial, and she was determined to get to the bottom of things.

Jayden and Athena walked into the study room, the soft click of the door closing behind them echoing through the silence. Jayden scanned the hallway, his eyes narrowing as he made sure they were alone. "Just making sure that, that bitch ain't following us," he muttered, his voice low and rough.

Athena's eyes met his, a spark of amusement dancing in their depths. "Sit," Jayden ordered, his voice firm.

Athena took a seat, her eyes never leaving Jayden's face. "Ma'am Monalisa and that kid," she began, her voice steady.

Jayden's expression changed, his eyes snapping with interest. "You found her? You found out the truth?" he asked, his voice filled with anticipation.

Athena nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Yes, I did," she replied, her voice confident.

She took out her phone from her pocket and placed it on the table, the screen glowing with the pictures she had taken. Jayden's eyes widened as he picked up the phone, his fingers scrolling through the images.

His eyes dropped, his face pale with shock. "She's that kid's mother?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.

Athena nodded, her expression sympathetic. "And that...that Donald is that kid's...father?" Jayden's voice was filled with disbelief.

Athena nodded again, her eyes locked onto Jayden's face. "It's possible. I also learned that...Mr. Donald is Miss Monalisa's childhood friend and they've been so close. I also discovered that he was the guy who helped Miss Monalisa escape from her arranged marriage, but they lost contact and Miss Monalisa moved down to this city."

Jayden's eyes were wide with shock, his mind reeling with the implications. "Where did you find all these information?" he asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

Athena's smile grew wider. "From Miss Monalisa's diary," she replied, her voice confident.

Jayden's eyes widened in surprise. "Monalisa keeps a diary?" he asked, his voice filled with wonder.

Athena's laughter was soft and musical. "Wow! You've got a lot of things you do not know about," she said, her voice teasing.

Jayden's expression changed, his eyes filling with determination. "What do I do now?" he asked, his voice firm.

Athena's expression turned serious. "Give up," she replied, her voice steady.

Jayden's face darkened, his eyes flashing with anger. "What are you saying? How can I give up my wife?" he demanded, his voice rising.

Athena's eyes met his, her expression unyielding. "Wife? After divorcing her, she ain't your wife no more," she said, her voice firm.

Jayden's face went pale, his eyes wide with shock. "Divorced who? What the fuck are you talking about? I never divorced her!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with emotion.

Athena's expression was calm. "She told me that you sent some divorce papers to her, as you signed it already. All she did was sign it too and send it back. In fact, she said you guys processed the papers before she left for New York city," she replied, her voice steady.

Jayden's face twisted in anger. "That's a lie!!! I never sent any divorce papers. I never thought of that. Yes, I sent her away because I was really mad, but after the discussion we had, I decided to listen to advice and investigate the matter. I had gone over to her place to sort out our differences and bring her home when I found out that she was no longer in Las Vegas. How could I possibly send divorce papers? Does it make sense?"

Athena's expression was skeptical. "No. Not at all," she replied, her voice firm.

Jayden's eyes locked onto hers, his expression desperate. "I need to see her and talk things out. Give me her home address," he said, his voice filled with emotion.

Athena's expression was unyielding. "Uh, never," she replied, her voice firm.

Jayden's face darkened, his eyes flashing with anger. "Why?" he demanded, his voice rising.

Athena's expression was calm. "If you want to see her, go to her office, book an appointment with her secretary, and then meet with her. I won't divulge her details to you, never," she replied, her voice steady.

Jayden's face twisted in frustration. "Really? Then do what you just said," he said, his voice filled with emotion.

Athena's expression was firm. "No. Don't get me involved in your mess, sir," she replied, her voice steady.

Jayden's eyes narrowed, his face darkening with anger. "Rude," he muttered, his voice low

Athena's expression softened slightly, and she apologized. "I apologize," she said, her voice gentle.

Jayden's anger seemed to dissipate slightly, replaced by a sense of desperation. "What do I do?" he asked, his voice filled with emotion.

Athena's expression turned serious. "If she grants you audience, apologize to her for hurting her and let her go. She's happy right now. Don't ruin her present," she replied, her voice firm.

Jayden's face twisted in anguish. "But I can't let her go," he said, his voice filled with emotion.

Athena's expression was unyielding. "You have to, sir. You have too. I should get going right now. Have a nice day," she said, her voice steady.

With that, Athena grabbed her phone and stood up, preparing to leave. Jayden watched her, his eyes filled with a mix of emotions. He felt a sense of desperation and frustration, knowing that he might lose the woman he loved.

As Athena turned to leave, Jayden called out to her. But she just smiled and walked out of the study room, leaving Jayden alone with his thoughts.

Jayden fell back on the couch, lost in thought. He couldn't believe what he had just learned. He thought about Monalisa and the child, and the possibility that Donald might be the father. He thought about the divorce papers and how Monalisa had signed them without his knowledge.

As he sat there, Jayden realized that he had made a grave mistake. He had hurt Monalisa deeply, and now he might lose her forever. He knew he had to do something to make things right, but he didn't know where to start.

Jayden's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of his phone ringing. He picked it up, hoping it might be Monalisa on the other end. But it was just a business call, and Jayden had to attend to it.

As he talked on the phone, Jayden's mind wandered back to Monalisa. He couldn't stop thinking about her and the child. He knew he had to find a way to make things right, no matter what it took.

The conversation with Athena had left Jayden feeling hopeful and desperate at the same time. He knew he had a long road ahead of him, but he was determined to fight for Monalisa's love and have her back.
