Chapter 115

Chapter 115
Athena's eyes scanned the room with a mix of desperation and determination. She was on a mission to find that birth certificate, and she wouldn't leave until she got it. As she rummaged through the shelves, her fingers trembled with anticipation. Finally, she spotted a box on the top shelf that caught her attention. A sly smile spread across her face as she thought to herself, "Bingo!"
With the drug bag in hand, Athena left the room, her heart racing with excitement. She returned to the living room, where Tricia was waiting with a warm smile. "Thanks for the snacks," Athena said, trying to sound casual despite the turmoil brewing inside her. "I'll drop the plate in the kitchen."
Tricia offered to take the plate, but Athena insisted, "No, I'll do that and wash it off too." As she walked towards the kitchen, Athena's mind was racing with thoughts of the birth certificate. She was convinced it was in that box, and she needed to get back in there without arousing Miss Monalisa's suspicion.
As she placed the plate in the kitchen, Athena's eyes locked onto the tap. A plan began to form in her mind. She turned slowly, her gaze scanning the room to make sure she was alone. "That box...the birth certificate is definitely in there," she whispered to herself. "I need to get back in there. But how do I do that?"
Athena's eyes sparkled with mischief as she spotted the tap. "Bingo," she smirked, a plan forming in her mind. She called out to Tricia, her voice laced with innocence, "Uh! Miss Tricia! How do you put on the tap! I can't seem to find where to switch it on!"
Tricia's voice came from the living room, "What? I'm coming." Athena's heart skipped a beat as she quickly switched on the tap, getting showered by the water. She let out a fake cry of surprise, "Oh no! I think I found it!"
Tricia rushed into the kitchen, her face etched with concern. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice laced with worry, as she quickly switched off the tap. Athena stood there, dripping wet, water droplets glistening on her face.
Athena chuckled, wiping the water off her face. "Yes, I'm okay. But I'm a mess right now," she said, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm dripping wet," she added, her voice filled with laughter.
Tricia's expression softened, and she smiled. "Since when did you become clumsy?" she teased, her voice warm with affection.
Athena's smile faltered for a moment, and she looked at Tricia with a hint of sadness. "Since you and ma'am decided to talk to me coldly," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Tricia's expression changed, and she looked at Athena with concern. "Speaking of cold...I think you should go change your clothes. You're wet already," she said, her voice filled with empathy.
Athena nodded, and Tricia took her hand, leading her back to the living room. As they entered, I looked up, surprised by Athena's state. "Did you decide to take a bath too in the kitchen?" I asked, my voice filled with amusement.
Athena looked at me, her eyes sparkling with embarrassment. "No. My bad," she apologized, her voice soft.
I chuckled, my eyes crinkling at the corners. "Don't. Tricia, take her to my room and give her dry clothes," I instructed, my voice warm with kindness.
Tricia nodded and led Athena to my bedroom. As they left, I couldn't help but smile at the sight of Athena's dripping wet state.
In the bedroom, Tricia handed Athena a set of dry clothes - a blue tank top, a black shirt, and a pair of black pants. "Change into that. I'll be outside, in the living room, if you need me," she said, her voice gentle.
Athena smiled, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Yes. Thank you," she replied, her voice soft.
As Tricia left the room, Athena quickly locked the door behind her. Her heart was racing with excitement as she reached out to the box on the top shelf. She carefully brought it down and unlocked it, her fingers trembling with anticipation.
Inside the box, she found a stack of documents, and her eyes scanned the papers frantically. "Where is it? Where is it?" she muttered to herself, her voice filled with desperation.
And then, she saw it - Joshua's birth certificate. Athena's heart skipped a beat as she reached out to her phone and took pictures of the birth certificate and other documents relating to it. She also took pictures of the photos of baby Joshua and me, the photos we took at the hospital with Donald, before delivery and after delivery of baby Joshua.
As she packed up the box and placed it back carefully on the top shelf, Athena couldn't help but feel a sense of triumph. She had gotten what she needed, and now it was time to get out of there.
"Wow! Sir Jayden is going to do a lot of crying when he finds out the truth," she thought to herself, a sly smile spreading across her face. "I need to change and get going," she added, her voice filled with determination.
Athena grabbed the clothes and hurried to the bathroom, her heart still racing from the revelation she was about to uncover. As she changed into the dry clothes, she couldn't shake off the feeling of excitement and nervousness. She quickly changed and returned to the living room, her wet clothes clutched in her hands.
"I'm sorry for being so clumsy. I think I should get going right now," Athena said, her voice filled with apology.
I smiled warmly at her. "It's okay. Thank you for earlier, I appreciate," I replied, my voice soft and gentle.
Athena's eyes locked onto mine, and she asked, "Miss Monalisa, may I say something?" Her voice was hesitant, but her eyes sparkled with determination.
"Yes," I replied, my curiosity piqued.
Athena took a deep breath before speaking. "I know...you and sir Jayden had it really rough, but then...it shouldn't end our relationship, don't you think?" Her voice was laced with emotion, and her eyes pleaded with me to understand.
I was taken aback by her words, and my expression changed. "Huh?" I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.
Athena continued, her words spilling out like a dam breaking. "I am sir Jayden's P.A thanks to you. You got me hired and when you two were in the Athens for your honeymoon and you liked me and asked sir Jayden to hire me as his secretary. Remember when I came into this city newly, and you housed me and we had so much fun. How I was your spy, spying on Cynthia and all that."
My expression softened, and I smiled, remembering those times. "I remember," I replied, my voice filled with nostalgia.
Athena's eyes sparkled with hope. "I get that you and sir Jayden are kind of having a strain in your relationship, but don't oust me okay? I still want to be friends with you, maybe in the near future, you and sir Jayden might put away your differences and get back..."
Tricia interrupted her, her voice cold and detached. "Get what? Hell nah! My Bess ain't doing that shit."
Athena's eyes widened in shock. "Why so?" she asked, her voice filled with confusion.
Tricia's expression was firm.
"That's because...Jayden and I are already divorced." I added.
Athena's jaw dropped. "What!!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with surprise.
I nodded, my expression calm. "Yes. In fact, he sent the divorce papers to me and I signed them and sent it back to him. Our divorce was processed before I left for New York city."
Athena's eyes were wide with shock. "What! Why did Sir Jayden keep such secret from me? How rude!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with indignation.
I shrugged. "Our marriage was a secret so I think it's pretty cool if our divorce is also a secret, don't you think?"
Athena's expression changed, and she looked at me with a mix of anger and disappointment. "No, I don't think so. He's so stupid! My bad, but sir Jayden did loose a gem, I must confess," she said, her voice filled with emotion.
Tricia's expression was firm. "Yes he did. His loss, someone else's gain," she snapped.
Athena stood up, her eyes filled with determination. "I should get going right now. I hope we'll keep in touch and remain friends, okay?" she said, her voice filled with hope.
I smiled warmly at her. "Take care of yourself," I replied, my voice soft and gentle.
Athena turned to Tricia. "Miss Tricia, do not let her do any house work or any other work until she's completely healed. I'm counting on you," she said, her voice filled with concern.
Tricia nodded. "Do not worry. I'm here for her," she replied, her voice firm.
Athena smiled and turned to leave. "I can drop you off at the gym. Your car is there right?" Tricia asked, her voice filled with kindness.
Athena shook her head. "Huh? Yes. But you need not worry. I can take care of myself," she replied, her voice filled with determination.
Tricia insisted, but Athena refused. "I insist. One minute. I'll go grab my car key," Tricia said, her voice filled with concern.
Athena shook her head again. "No! I'm good. You should stay and probably make breakfast for miss Monalisa. I don't think she already had one. Excuse me then."
Athena turned immediately and hurriedly left our house.
"Wow! I'm going crazy!! Wow!" Athena exclaimed, her voice filled with emotion.
Athena walked out of the house, her heart racing.
