Chapter 60 Talk with the Mother-in-law
Thyago's parents warmly welcomed her at their home. Seeing the William's mansion, she couldn't help but blink in dazed by the lifestyle and luxury she was seeing. She was well aware that the Williams were rich but seeing their mansion only justify it. She just can't help to examine and get amazed by their properties.
The wide and amazing landscape of the garden together with the giant and classy fountain in the middle that stands as an attraction, the marvelous and unique style of the pools area, the different luxurious cars and vehicles parked in their garage, and when she went inside the mansion was more than the word amazing she could ever describe. Starting with the lights and elegant chandelier in the splendid living room together with the classy furniture and expensive carpet. The grand staircase represents the wealth and sturdy structure of the mansion itself. The enormous and marvelous design of the dining area does fit not for just a simple average family. It can accommodate more or less twenty people she thought. She wonders how they manage to talk to each other every time they eat on the huge and long table? She was sure this mansion has a huge Study and Entertainment room as well. She wonders how many guests rooms this mansion has as well? They have a butler and lots of maids in uniform. Thyago introduce her to their butler and some of the maids they met along the way and each of them politely greeted and congratulated them for newly wedding. She notices some of the rooms relaxing designs and styles show elegance and uniqueness are very amazing too. As an interior designer, she knew this kind of structure worth millions. She was awed and at the same time intimidated to have a glance in this kind of house. What more knowing the fact she'll be living in this grandeur mansion? The Williams mansion just resembles their power and wealth and realizing she was now one of them for being the wife of their son and only successor.
"Did the honeymoon do you good? Oh, why do I ask the obvious? You two looked amazingly in love!" Thyago's Mom enthusiastically stated.
The old woman seemed so happy and excited to see her right after they arrived at the mansion. The old woman looked so elegantly beautiful beyond her age. Her features spoke glamour and wealth. She has soft features and a cheerful personality. She had met his parents before when she was a teenager when they visited and had dinners with her Uncle Ben's house. The old woman was still beautiful, she just got older a little bit and gain light wrinkles on the side of her eyes.
Thyago's parents asked them to live at the mansion since he was the only child. They said the mansion was too big for them. They even requested it badly after they learned they were expecting a grandchild. Thyago and her talked about this matter before and they decided to follow his parent's will. Besides, Thyago's Mom promised to help and guide her all the way to her pregnancy stages. She was glad Thyago's Mom was there for her to guide and teach her when it was supposed to be her real Mom's role. Since she grew up without a Mom, she knew she will badly need her mother-in-law's help when it comes to her pregnancy. Besides, the old woman seems kind and genuinely fond of her.
"Yes Mama, the place was amazingly beautiful." She told her mother-in-law.
"And we're looking forward to coming back there, right baby?" Thyago teasingly said with the naughty gleam of his eyes. She secretly pinched Thyago in his waist that made him chuckle.
"Glad to hear that child." The old woman replied.
"Treat us like your own parents from now on Bea because you are now a part of this family. Do not hesitate to tell us if you have problems. From now on we will treat you like our own daughter too." Thyago's father stated.
The old man looked serious and stiff on the outside but the way he said those words, she felt the tenderness and genuineness of his voice. She could feel that beyond his parent's success and wealthy way of living, they were genuinely kind and humble too. A trait of his husband he surely got from his parents.
Thyago's room which will be their room from now on was vast and elegant, it was larger than the size of his bedroom in the penthouse. The balcony, the shower room, the huge walk-in closet, the sofa set, and what she loves the most is the California king bed that is placed on the side of the window. It might be a good view of sunrise she guesses. She liked the room but the design was very manly. Thyago gave her permission to change it in accordance with her will and that's what she will work on for the coming days.
A knock on the door took her attention from contemplating while combing her hair that night. She just finished taking a shower while waiting for Thyago for them to sleep. When she opened the door, it was her mother-in-law bringing a glass of milk.
"Are you looking for Thyago Mama? He's at the Study room and---"
"No, I just brought you warm milk to help you have a good sleep." She handed her the glass of milk then.
"Thank you, Mama..." She genuinely replied.
How sweet for an old lady to bring her daughter-in-law a glass of milk to help her have a good sleep. She even personally brought her when she could even order one of the maids to bring her. The old woman was indeed very kind and attentive. She took the glass of milk and gladly drank and consumed almost half of it. She got stunned when she felt her gentle caress on her stomach. The old woman seemed very happy knowing she was carrying her son's child, she thought. That gesture warm her heart and made her smile.
"You have a small tummy Bea, the baby bump isn't showing yet." Her mother-in-law commented.
"Does that even normal, Mama?" She worriedly asked.
"Don't worry there really are instances like that. Your face and skin are glowing and you looked more even beautiful the last time I saw you at the wedding. I think it will be a baby girl." Excitement and happiness showed on the old woman's face.
"Is that so Mama? I'll be having my first ultrasound by the end of the month together with my monthly prenatal check-up. I'm excited to know what's the gender of my child Mama." She happily informed her mother-in-law.
"Oh, do you want me to accompany you?" The old woman offered.
"Is it okay with you, Mama?" She asked.
"I would love to!" Joy and excitement were very obvious to the old woman's voice and that definitely warmed her heart. She must be lucky to have a kind and sweet mother-in-law.
"Oh, I can't believe my son Thyago will be having his own child now. He was just playing all over this house together with Elena before and then all of a sudden he burst out into that man over there. Time really passed so swiftly." The old woman emotionally added as she was looking at her tummy.
"Elena and Thyago are really that close, I guess. I know Elena was his ex-girlfriend, Mama." She commented bitterly.
She saw the old woman get stunned for a moment and apologetically looked at her as hesitation showed her face. Every time Elena's name was being mentioned when the topic was all about Thyago, she couldn't help herself to get jealous.
"Don't get jealous of their closeness, child. Yes, they used to have a relationship before but that was over a long time ago. You know, teenage carelessness and foolishness." Hearing that from the old woman made her change her mood.
She knew she didn't mean to upset her or have any intention to offend her but she just can't help to get jealous. She guesses Elena must have played an important role to Thyago and his family. They used to be childhood friends and their both families are really close.
"You see, Elena and Thyago grew up very close together. They used to be each other's best friend and companion so they might mistake their friendship for attraction. All of a sudden they just surprised us by announcing they were into a relationship. We thought they will last but they didn't work." The old woman added.
"I saw my son turned out to be a playboy as he grew older. He wants no commitment and has no official girlfriend. When he turned older I even got this idea that maybe he's allergic to marriage and settling down was out of his vocabulary but he took us by surprise when he suddenly talked to me and his father and said he's getting married. Don't get me wrong Bea, but it was surprising when we found out that the girl he's going to marry is Elena's cousin. I never got a chance to get to know you before and I regretted that I never tried. I never thought you will play an important part in my son's life in the future when I met you at Ben's house. Now I can see my child as a responsible and real man. With you, I saw my son change and turn mature. He was happy, I knew it. I have never seen him so much happy the way he looked at you." The old woman emotionally stated.
For a moment, she was stunned and speechless. Hearing those flattering words to the mother of the man she loved was definitely delightful and very warming in the heart. She was glad she was acknowledged by Thyago's parents especially her mother-in-law. It really means a lot to her. They were a good family and she's lucky to be a part of them. Bet she's really going to have a good and comfortable sleep with a smile on her lips this night...
