"What's going on? Are those two kids being excluded?"
Logan immediately turned his authoritative gaze towards the principal.
The principal was startled and quickly looked in the direction he was pointing. She saw Chloe and Gregory, and immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
She smiled and explained, "Mr. Mercer, you misunderstood. The kids are not excluding those two. It's just that they are playing a game that the others can't join, and those two aren't very active."
"What do you mean by that?" Samantha frowned, somewhat confused.
At this moment, the children who had followed them saw their beloved principal in trouble and rushed forward to help.
"Uncle, Auntie, we are not excluding Gregory and Chloe. They like to play games we don't understand."
"Exactly, every time they play something I don't get. I actually wish Chloe would play dress-up with Barbie dolls with us."
"I also want to play soccer with Gregory. He's really good. He even beat the big kid from Class Three last time."
Listening to the children's chatter, Logan and Samantha were a bit bewildered.
They looked suspiciously at the principal, "Did we misunderstand?"
"Indeed, you did. About these two children..." The principal couldn't help but smile before continuing, "You should go in and see for yourselves."
Logan and Samantha exchanged a glance and decided to go in and see what was happening.
Given the number of people entering, Gregory and Chloe should have noticed the commotion.
However, contrary to expectations, the two kids were deeply engrossed in their activities.
When Logan and Samantha reached them, they saw the kids were focused on solving advanced math problems, which left them astonished.
"Do kindergartens teach such difficult stuff now?" Samantha asked in disbelief, looking at the principal.
The principal shook her head, "No, they don't."
"Then why are they..." Logan began but was interrupted by the principal's explanation.
"Gregory and Chloe are special. They have very high IQ, and their parents have been nurturing their talents. So, they are different from other kids."
Just then, Chloe and Gregory looked up from their problems and were surprised to see their uncle and parents.
Gregory thought they were there to cause trouble. He stepped in front of his sister protectively and asked cautiously, "What do you want?"
Logan and Samantha noticed the children's wariness and felt a pang of sadness.
Before they could say anything, the principal, unaware of the subtle tension, began to introduce them.
"Gregory, this is the chairman of the school board and his wife. They came to inspect the school today. When they saw you two sitting alone, they thought you were being excluded and came to check on you."
"We're not being excluded. We just want to solve problems that others can't," Gregory replied with a serious expression tinged with disdain.
Samantha was thrilled by his delicate features. This expression and these little gestures were exactly like her son when he was young!
Why hadn't she noticed this before?
Samantha screamed internally but maintained a kind expression. She didn't want to lose her composure during her first formal meeting with her grandchildren.
Logan felt similarly and tried hard to control himself.
He put on a kind face to reassure the nervous kids, "So it was a misunderstanding."
Gregory nodded but noticed they weren't leaving. He pressed his lips together, unsure of what to say or do.
Samantha and Logan also realized this and regretted showing a negative side in front of the kids.
"Don't be nervous. We just came by to take a look and didn't expect to see you," Samantha said warmly, trying to comfort them.
Gregory and Chloe were puzzled by their enthusiasm but nodded obediently.
However, their expressions remained cautious and uneasy.
The principal was also surprised. She sensed that the chairman and his wife seemed to know Gregory and Chloe.
Before she could ask, she saw the usually aloof chairman and his wife sit down opposite the kids with an unusually loving demeanor.
"Can we talk?" Samantha asked expectantly.
The kids hesitated but eventually nodded. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Just anything. We didn't get your names last time we met. Can you tell us?" Samantha's eyes sparkled as she spoke.
Although puzzled, the kids answered truthfully, "I'm Gregory Jones, and this is my sister Chloe Jones. We are both five and a half years old."
