Chapter 46 Temporary home

Chapter 46 Temporary home
Angela

I sit next to Sergio and listen as they speak. Well not really listening but pretending to listen. I don't think I want to be involved in this mafia business of theirs. Because no one who makes harsh decisions without thinking of the consequences is of any use. That's my opinion anyway. So I'm going to try with everything in me to try and shift from all this, be a silent spectator.

Sergio keeps looking towards me as I pretend to listen to them talk. I pretend to be paying attention and I think he can see through me. But try as he might, I'm never going to contribute to all this business whether it's talk or not. The only thing I will do though is tell them information that I know that might help them. The regret and guilt are eating at me. I don't know how to deal with all this. It's too much.

It's after thirty minutes that they finish talk and scatter. I've been quiet and not paying much attention to them, so I'm surprised when everyone stands up and start heading towards the door, all except for my husband.

"Is this how you're going to act now?" I hear his question, snapping my head to look at him.

I furrow my eyebrows as I ask, "what do you mean?"

"Don't act clueless Angel, you know exactly what I mean. Or were we boring you?" It's only when he asks me that that I understand what he's talking about.

I stand up and walk towards the fridge and stand against it, putting some distance between us. He doesn't like it, I can see it in his eyes, in the way his bushy brows furrow like I offended him somehow.

"I told you, I don't want to be involved anymore. It's safer this way."
"Babe we all jump the broom too roughly the first time. This was your first time. We all make mistakes." He says, his voice softening even more in the way it does everytime he speaks to our daughter.

He's trying to change my mind, but he wont, I won't. I can't imagine the guilt that will hold me hostage if something worse happens because I had been too excited or emotional. Today was a warning for me to step back. I don't want anymore.

"The jump I took today is enough for me for a lifetime. There will be no more jumping for me unless absolutely necessary." I say, ducking my head.

His chair scraping is all the warning I have before he's infront of me lifting my head up to look at him. The tears that were brimming now suddenly rolling down my face, my throat tightening and my chest starting a fire so light I fear the next breath I take will be fire. He hugs me to his chest as I cry silently, rubbing my back. We stay like that until I stop crying. Only then does he lift my face again. He kisses my gently on my lips then tells me to go wash up my face.

When I come back from the bathroom, Angelina is sitting on the kitchen island with a tablet infront of her. Her head lifts and she beams at me when she sees me.

"Daddy said this will be our new house until we go home." She says.

They've grown extremely close during our hide out. In fact, she's grown close to everyone around us. And everyone is protective of her.

"Is that so?" I say looking at Sergio.
"Yes. I think it's best that we do for now. I don't think there will be any attack against us for a while. Plus I figure it's closer to base. This way we can be closer to home." Sergio says.

I wish I'd paid attention in the meeting earlier. There is something he's not telling me but I just can't come out and ask him about it, unless he tells me himself. Because then it will appear as if I'm looking for attention. So I keep quiet, I don't ask even though I'm curious.

His eyes are following me as I walk through the kitchen. I know he wants to say something, probably about us coming to stay here even.

I suddenly stop midway through cutting the fruits for the fruit platter as it occurs to me that I'm acting or simply behaving like a baby. I'm sulking. I'm not behaving like an adult. I really am back handedly seeking attention. But if I'm being honest, I'm not doing any of this because I want attention, he gives me too much of it, I truly don't want to be involved. I don't even want to know what goes on in the business. Because if I know something then I would want to be involved.

"What are you thinking?" I feel his heat before his hands envelope me, his front covering my back, making me shiver.

I stay silent, enjoying his warmth. I don't think I could ever get used to this, to him. Being held without asking for it. Being loved.

I don't know how to pose the question or words I want to ask, because frankly, it would just solidify what I am thinking. But if I don't answer him, he's going to either sulk all day or he's going to ask until I give him the answer.

"Do you think I'm acting like a baby?" He freezes for a second and then I feel small tremors rolling off him towards me. His stubble brushes my neck as he nuzzles me. I know he's laughing at my question.

"What makes you think that?"
"Well, you're laughing at me." His laugh comes out louder this time.
"No, angel you're not acting like a baby." He says after sobering. "But I wouldn't have you any other way." He says, kissing my temple.

I'm blushing. His words fill me with an excitement that makes me want to scream to the world about how much this man loves me. I tone it all down though and pretend he's not affecting me.

"You just want to get in my pants." I say low enough that Angelina doesn't hear.
"Lina, why don't you go pick a bedroom you'd like to sleep in then call me once you find in." Shit! I shouldn't have said anything.

"Do you see how easy it would be to get in your pants?" His hand has moved lower and is now covering my mound and massaging it.

I gasp as I push my a$$ back into him.

"I could just bend you over on this counter and f#ck you from behind." He says and I feel myself getting wet.

"Daddy." Angelina calls from upstairs and without a word Sergio stops touching me and is gone.
