Chapter 41 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 41 Untitled Chapter
Angela

I'm woken up by the feeling of being picked up. I cradle in his arms as cold hits me square on the skin, I'm only then reminded that I'm not wearing any solid clothes.

Moments later I feel myself placed on a soft surface. I blink my eyes open and discover I'm on a bed.

"Go back to sleep, Angel." Sergio says and I comply.

In my dream state, I see our house in flames with us inside. There are sounds of guns outside, I'm holding a crying Angelina hiding in a corner waiting for the inevitable.

I also see Sergio being shot as he races up the house to our bedroom, when he opens the door, he immediately collapses on the floor telling us to get out the house before it's engulfed by flames.

I rush to him, putting Angelina down in a sitting position. I call his name trying to wake him up but get no response, he's dead, i can see that he's dead but keep waking him up with tears streaming down my face and crying.

In my periphery, I see a man standing by the door with a gun in his hand hanging by his side looking at us. I look up at him and immediately want to fold into myself.

"Angela"

The look on his eyes say it all, he feels pity for me but he's proud. 'I won', his expression says, and then a smile appears on his face as he looks at the corner where Angelina is.

"You thought you could take what's mine without consequences?" He asks my dead husband.

I hear Angelina call for me, crying. "Mommy, please don't let him take me." She cries.

I'm helpless, I don't know what to do. My husband's dead, and I know without asking that this man is going to take my daughter and kill me thereafter. His face says it all.

"Angela, wake up"

This face i know better than anyone. The face of the man who abused me, who raped me countless tim3s until i bled. This man who feels entitled to a female child's body as if it's his own.

Anger, that's what I feel when I look at him. The feeling is so instant thati forget I'm mourning the death of my husband. I stand up and fully face him. Face my bully, the man who traumatized me.

"Angel, wake up. You're dreaming." I hear Sergio's voice say.

"I am not dreaming. I am not afraid of you. You are not going to take my daughter."

The house is suddenly shaking, violently. More like I'm the one shaking because Thomas is not shaking, he's standing still while I'm shaking and getting off balance.

I try to hold on to something but it's like everything is disappearing right infront of my eyes. I also feel myself losing conscious, start to black out. I don't understand what's happening.

Then I hear it again, my husband's voice, much louder than before. "Angel, wake up. Wake up, baby you're dreaming." It says, rendering me more confused.

I open my eyes, squinting, but close them again. There's too much light, making my eyes start throbbing. Other places too, but I want to see for myself if what I'm hearing is really it.

The lights are turned off then, making the room a little dark and I open my eyes slowly.

"There she is." I hear his voice again, but I also feel his touch. Stroking my hair soothingly. "You were dreaming." He says again.

The feeling of being disoriented is fading away slowly. And with it leaving me comes a feeling I'm too familiar with, the strong feeling of wanting to cry.

As if sensing my feelings, Sergio climbs up on the bed next to me and hugs me. I let it out, I let it all out. All the stress and worry that's taken over my life. I cry so much, one has to wonder if I will have any water in my body left.

And Sergio? He doesn't try to stop me, he just holds me as I cry and I'm grateful for that. I don't think I'd be able to handle it if he said anything.

I'm glad it was all a dream. I don't know what I would do if it was my reality. Having a newfound family being taken away from me from right under me would be the thing that makes me finally give up.

Hope! Something I never thought I would have in my life. Life, this is life. This is living, having everyone that I have in my life at this moment, having a man to take care of me, to make sure that I'm ok. Having a child that even though I didn't birth, still feels like mine.

Happiness! Something I thought I would only hear about from other people. Something I always thought I didn't deserve. Something I thought I would never experience.

Love, because this is what it feels like. It feels like the man holding me as I go through the motions of loss and gain. Because as I'm crying, I realise that through all that I've lost, I've gained something incredible. Something worth keeping.

I turn in my husband's arms and hug him, because I never want to let go of him, never. I reach up to his face and touch it, bringing his lips to mine. Kissing him with a ferocity I never knew I had in me. And he kisses me back.

My hands roaming his body, lifting his shirt to feel him present with me. Wanting to forget and feel, wanting to hold on to the one thing that brought me back to life. I can never be thankful enough to him, so I show him. I show him with my kisses and my touch.

"I love you." I whisper to him words I never thought I would be ready to utter and I feel him stiffen, so I say them again so that he's sure of what I said. I say them over and over again as he lines up with my opening and enters me.

It feels like a chant, a song of some sort as I scream out his name when my orgasm hits me so hard it feels like I'm going blind. And as I come back from my high and sleep claims me again, I hear him say it back to me and it's music.

I found love, life and hope through this man. And just as in my dreams, I will kill for this man because he means the world to me. This time my dreams are silent, this time I don't dream, I sleep peacefully with no disturbance.
