Chapter 87 Chapter Eighty Seven: The Symptoms

Chapter 87 Chapter Eighty Seven: The Symptoms
(Lior's POV)

I had taken the day off work. Not because I had something else, outside work, to do the entire day. I just didn't think I could focus on anything today.

I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the bandage wrapped around my chest beneath my shirt. I had never imagined I'd have to do something like this; binding my chest to prevent leaking breast milk.

The dampness had started three days ago, and I still couldn't believe it was happening.

I pulled my shirt down and checked myself one more time before picking up my phone.

Jay was still on the call.

“You're seriously telling me your breasts are leaking?”

I rolled my eyes. “Yes, Jay.”

“Like... actually leaking milk?”

“Yes.”

There was a brief silence.

Then he laughed. “I don't believe you.”

“Why would I lie about something this embarrassing?”

“I don't know. Maybe you've finally lost your mind.”

I sighed and grabbed my bag. “I'm not joking. I've been feeling weird for more than a week too.”

“Weird how?”

“Fatigue. Mostly in the mornings. I wake up feeling like I haven't slept at all.” I walked toward the bedroom door. “And I've been nauseous. Sometimes I can't even finish breakfast.”

Jay became quieter. “Okay. Those could be iron deficiency. You've had a bunch of vitamin deficiencies over the years. Maybe you're not eating well.”

“Okay, and the lactation? That can't be vitamin deficiency.”

“I'm still having trouble believing it, Lior, how are you lactating? You don't have breasts.”

I looked down at my chest. “I had to bind my chest so I wouldn't wet my shirt while I'm out. And I might be growing breasts, my chest does feel more tender somehow.”

“You're serious.”

“Unfortunately.”

Jay exhaled. “You should see a doctor.”

“I don't know.”

“What do you mean you don't know?”

I grabbed my keys. “What if I'm really sick and they find some excuse not to offer me free treatment?”

Jay immediately scoffed. “You wouldn't need free treatment. What happened to Adrian? I assume he wants you in good health. He can pay for you to get treatment.”

“Jay, I'm leeching off him a lot these days.”

“No, you're not.”

“He’s paying for the dietician and caregiver taking care of my father. He's covering hospital bills and medication costs, and he still lets me use his card to buy whatever.” I sighed. “I feel like that's enough of my personal weight on him.”

“Lior, I swear he's not feeling your weight on him.” Jay sounded almost offended on Adrian's behalf. “He has more than enough. His family controls the entire nation. He's sitting on generational fortune. Giving you money won't affect his smallest wallet.”

I laughed. “Are you suggesting I turn into a gold digger because he's wealthy?”

“There's nothing wrong with gold digging.”

I shook my head. “Jay.”

“Unfortunately, you can't even do it.”

“Why unfortunately?”

“Because you're too emotionally attached to your sugar daddy.”

“He's not my sugar daddy.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. But fortunately for you, Adrian Valehart would willingly give you gold. So you don't have to dig."

“Jayyy.”

He laughed.

“Lior, taking care of your health is a necessity, not a luxury. You're not digging gold by spending Adrian's money on your health.” His voice softened. “Please see a doctor.”

I sighed.

“Fine. I'm going to the hospital for my father's checkup. I'll talk to a doctor about my health while I'm there.”

“Nice.” He sounded satisfied. “And please come over right after. We're going to see Noel's mother. She's been asking me to bring you over.”

I stepped out of my bedroom. “You made up with Noel?”

“No.”

I laughed.

“I just still visit his mom. The sweet lady likes me, and I can't break her heart because her son is a jerk.”

I laughed again as I walked toward the front door.

“Alright. I'll come over later in the day.”

“Okay. Bye.”

“Bye.”

I ended the call as I stepped outside.

My driver was already waiting. He held the door for me to get in, before going over to the driver's seat.

I was against the idea when Adrian said he'd get me a personal driver, but now I can't help but love the convenience. I relaxed against my seat as the car started moving.

Before I could put my phone away, I saw a message from Adrian:

HEY BABY, HOW ARE YOU? ON YOUR WAY TO THE HOSPITAL?

A smile immediately found its way onto my face.

I typed back:

HI, I'M OKAY. I HOPE YOU ARE TOO. I'M ON MY WAY TO PICK UP MY DAD. WE'LL GO TO THE HOSPITAL FROM THERE.

His response came almost immediately:

I'M NOT VERY OKAY WITHOUT YOU HERE. I SUDDENLY DON'T WANT TO WORK BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT HERE TO GIVE ME KISSES.

I chuckled.

“Can't work without getting rewarded with kisses?” I muttered.

I shook my head.

“And he calls me baby.”

I typed back:

TALK TO YOU LATER

His next message came almost instantly:

SEND ME A PICTURE

I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't stop smiling.

I turned the camera toward myself and took a quick selfie, then sent it to him.

His response appeared seconds later:

YOU'RE SO BEAUTIFUL, I MIGHT GET A HEART ATTACK.

I chuckled, and typed back:

PLEASE DON'T.

He replied:

OKAY, I WON'T.

I smiled at the screen.

I was about to reply when my driver spoke.

“Sir, we're here.”

I slipped my phone into my bag and stepped out of the car.

I walked inside and found my father sitting in the living room with my stepmother and the caregiver.

“Good morning.”

They all turned toward me.

My father gave me a small nod. “Morning.”

I exchanged greetings with my stepmother before turning to the caregiver.

“Good morning, Maya.”

“Good morning, sir.” She stood up. “I can go with you to the hospital if you'd like.”

I nodded. “That would be helpful.”

My stepmother stood as well.

“Let's go, then.”

We left the house together and got into the car.

The drive to the hospital took only about five minutes.

Once we arrived, we went inside and were directed toward the appropriate department.

There was a brief consultation with the doctor before they began preparing my father for his tests. I stayed with him until the nurses took him through the process.

Then I looked at my stepmother. “I'll be back.” I needed to see a doctor.

She nodded.

The caregiver stayed with them while I stepped away.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting. Maybe the doctor would tell me I was simply stressed, maybe the explanation for the nausea and fatigue would be vitamin deficiency, maybe even the strange lactation had a simple answer…

Without having to wait, I was let into a doctor's office.

I walked into the office and sat down.

She looked at me over the file in front of her. “What brings you in today?”

I took a breath. “I've been feeling unusually tired for more than a week. Mostly in the mornings.”

She nodded, making a note.

“I've also been nauseous.”

"Any vomiting?"

“Just once, but it wasn't in the morning when I usually feel nauseous. It happened when I tried eating soup at dinner, it was my first time eating the particular soup.”

She wrote something down. “And the other problem?”

I hesitated…

“My breasts started leaking three days ago.”

Her pen stopped.

She looked up at me. “You're lactating?”

I nodded. “Yes. And as you can clearly tell, I'm a male Omega.”

“Are you married?”

I frowned. “Does that matter?”

She seemed to realize how she'd phrased the question. “I'm sorry. I meant to ask if you're sexually active.”

I stared at her. “Does it matter?”

She hesitated…

“Your symptoms suggest you might be pregnant.”

I almost laughed. “Doctor, I'm a male Omega.” My voice came out sharper than I intended. “You're a doctor. You know I can't get pregnant.”

The doctor didn't argue.

Instead, she closed the file and said,

“Let's run some blood tests and investigate what's happening.”

I sat there silently.

Blood tests.

I didn't know what she expected to find. But I felt genuinely afraid of the answer, even though I know I can't possibly be pregnant.

Could it be pheromone disorder? No. That'd be a death sentence.

I need to stop thinking the worst.
