Can we stop our child inquiring about sexuality? We cannot stop the natural flow of a river? Water always finds out its way to move ahead. It goes towards down and down. If we cannot stop natural journey of water, so what should we do? A wise person channelizes the strength of water and gives it right direction. Sexuality possesses the nature of water. Comprehensive sexuality education channelizes intrinsic impulses of children in right direction. – Rajeer Ranjan
“Bunny?” Olivia said from the doorway to her office.
Looking up from the report in front of her, Bunny was surprised to see that it was already the end of the day. Smiling at her friend and coworker, she motioned for the other woman to enter the large office. Olivia came in and sat down on the plush chair.
“I’ve gotten a couple of calls from your family today.”
“That sounds ominous,” Bunny laughed. Her smile fell and eyes widened with fear, “I did not forget someone’s birthday, again, did I?”
It was Olivia’s turn to laugh as she shook her head. “Not this time. At least, not that I’m aware of.”
“Shit,” Bunny muttered as she grabbed her phone to look at her calendar. After checking that one and the calendar on her computer, she looked at the woman who was grinning at her. “Fuck you.”
“Love you, too,” the other woman laughed.
“Okay, why is my family calling you?”
“Jolene and Neo have a new daughter?”
“Sam,” Bunny said with a nod. “She’s fifteen, pregnant and her father attacked her in the lawyer’s office and CPS yanked her.”
“Sounds like it needed to happen.” She tossed the file folder in her hand onto the desk. “I pulled her school file. Her parents never let her take the health classes, refused to let her do the sex ed classes and her counselor stated that Sam believed that you had to actually sleep with a guy to get pregnant.”
Bunny was looking through the folder and saw good grades but lots of absences for science and no attendance for health. “That’s usually when it happens.”
“No, Bunny. Like snore sleep.”
Laying down the paper in her hand, she looked at Olivia. “Like close your eyes and go to sleep sleep sleeping together?”
Olivia gave her a confused look, “Sleep sleep sleeping together. That hurts my head and yet it makes sense.”
“You know what I mean.”
Rubbing her temple, Olivia nodded, “Sadly, I do. Here’s my problem, other than your bad grammar, you should not be the one that treats her.”
“Family, even though we’re not technically family and all that.”
“Yes, you know, family, family, familying.”
Rolling her eyes, Bunny scratched her cheek with her middle finger.
“Yes, all of that.” Olivia agreed. “And let’s face it, I’m not what an innocent child who is pregnant and doesn’t know how she got that way needs.”
“That hurts my head,” Bunny admitted, “and my heart.”
“Agreed. We can also agree that I’m a little rougher than what she needs.”
Tipping her head back, Bunny looked up at the ceiling and laughed. “You would probably give her homework of watching porn.”
“Porn has it’s place in a relationship,” Olivia pointed out.
Looking at the woman on the other side of her desk, Bunny grinned, “I happen to like porn with my men. We even have our own special home movies.”
Olivia clutched pearls that she was not wearing and covered her mouth with her other hand as she gasped in shock. “Why I never!”
“Uh-huh, and you and Winch never get freaky.”
“You see how many kids I have? The only way we can have sex is if we get freaky and creative.” Olivia laughed. “Fuckin Winch started talking about having another one, as if the six that we have aren’t enough.”
“A few more and he can have a baseball team.”
“That’s probably exactly what the asshole is thinking.”
“You love him.”
Olivia grinned, “I do. Would not trade him for anything.”
“Glass of wine, bubble bath and an hour for yourself?”
“Okay, that,” she pointed at Bunny, “I would trade him for.”
“Yeah, me too. Saturday mornings getting my nails done does so much for me.”
“Can’t do that,” she looked at her rough nails with no polish. “I have a bad habit of peeling my polish off. I don’t ever chew my nails unless I have acrylics on.”
“You’re so weird.”
They grinned at each other about the shared insult.
“So,” Olivia motioned to the file folder, “I hate to throw something like this at Connie…”
“Yeah,” Bunny agreed as she nodded and motioned to the desk phone. “She’s still in her office.”
Picking up the receiver from her desk phone, she dialed the extension to the newest therapist for the FAC. Changing her mind, she clicked the speaker button and put the receiver back. The ringing of the phone echoed around the office before the other woman’s voice came on the line.
“This is Connie.”
“Connie, it’s Bunny and Liv is in my office with me.”
“You’re on speaker phone,” Olivia warned.
“Just before you have a potty mouth doesn’t mean that everyone else does too,” Bunny pointed out and Olivia stuck her tongue out at her.
“I thought it was just courtesy to let someone know,” Connie admitted.
“What she said.”
“Whatever,” Bunny smirked. “Do you have a few minutes? We have a client that we think you should take.”
“Yeah, give me just a minute. Did you want me to come to your office?”
“Please,” Bunny nodded.
“Bitch, she can’t see that you’re nodding your head.”
“Shut up,” she demanded as she ended the call.
They were still throwing friendly insults back and forth when Connie knocked on the doorframe. “I can come back if you need a few more minutes.”
Looking from each other to the doorway and then back to the woman on the opposite side of the desk, the two long term coworkers grinned.
“She’s going to be just fine,” Olivia declared.
“Without a doubt,” Bunny agreed before looking at the newcomer. “Come on in.”
The older woman moved to sit next to Olivia, accepting the file from Bunny. She received a quick overview of the situation and the reasons that neither of them thought that they were the right person for the file. Connie made quick notes in her notebook and asked several questions.
Shaking her head, she marked a spot in the folder and scribbled a shorthand note on the margin. “I thought that I had left all of this.”
“Pregnant teens?” Olivia shook her head. “Bunny has a lot of them.”
“I worked with an organization outside of Pheonix that rescued abused women and girls. Some by family and some by strangers. A lot of times, the parents think that they are protecting their daughters, keeping them innocent. All that they are doing is making it easier for them to be manipulated and abused.”
“The more time I spend with people, the more I really hate people,” Olivia admitted. “I keep hoping that aliens will show up and save us from ourselves.”
“Wouldn’t that be lovely?” Connie asked with a smirk.
