Chapter 20: Missing You

“Danial, open the fucking door!” A voice yells from outside his front door. Danial was sitting on his couch, huddled up in a thick blanket, a glass of whiskey in his hand as he stared out their living room windows with a blank expression. “Brat!” The blonde groaned as he finally got up from his spot, putting down his glass, he kept the blanket wrapped around himself as he gruffly stomped over to the front door, harshly opening it to glare at his equally glaring mother.

“What do you want, Hag?” Danial wasn’t in the mood for bullshit. He hadn’t slept since before Jay was taken, since then nightmares of Jay’s bloody body lying in the streets filled every corner of his mind.

“We need to talk.” Margret said, walking into the angry sleep deprived blonde's apartment. Instantly scrunching up her nose at all the trash littering the floor and kitchen counters. ‘They better find Jay soon.’ The older blonde woman thought as she noticed a special yellow bag sitting on the end of the countertop separating the kitchen from the dining room. A sad gleam shone in her storm-blue eyes as she turned back to face Danial, noticing the dark circles under his eyes that were bloodshot from crying and his hair that was no longer perfectly spiked like she was used to. He looked nothing like the man that had come to her house last week for family dinner with a beaming green giant beside him. ‘Oh, my poor baby.’

“Might as well sit down then.” He grumbled, bored, as they made their way into the living room to sit on the couch. Margret noticed the empty whiskey bottles and the halfway empty bottle sitting in front of the couch, a partially full glass beside it. She was worried before when she saw the kitchen, but now she was downright terrified for her boy. Memories of hospital visits and late nights crying with anguish take over her thoughts as they sit downside by side.

Danial can see the concern in his mother's eyes, knowing how all this looked. Guilt started to build in his gut as he looked from his mother's matching storm-blue eyes to down at his lap, shame eating him up as a deep frown settled on his usually confident face.

“Danial… how are you?” Her voice was soft, filled with concern as she studied her depressed son.

“I… I just miss him… so much… and I can feel that something is happening… that something is wrong… and I don’t know what to do. I want to help… to save him so badly… but I can’t do anything.” Danial was hunched over in his spot, hugging his knees, eyes squeezed shut as tears rolled down his pale cheeks, small sobs escaping him as he spoke. Margret starts crying, scooting closer to her broken boy to hold him in her arms.

“Oh Danial, I wish I could help you, but I might have an idea on how to get Jay back faster, but it could be… dangerous.” He freezes before sitting up abruptly to look his mother in the face, his blood shot storm-blue eyes widening in hope and shock. It had been three days since Jay had been taken and Danial could not imagine going on like this anymore. He would do anything to get his lover back, ANYTHING.

“What is it?” His sharp serious tone startled the older blonde woman. Margret looked away, letting out a cautious breath.

“Brat, it could be dangerous. I know someone that could find Jay. He works with the government to find people that don’t want to be found. He is also expensive.” She says before Danial cuts her off.

“I don’t care, I will use my inheritance to pay him if I need to. I don’t care what I have to do to get Deku back.” His words were fierce, an intense fire burning in his eyes.

“Very well. I will get him a message, but Danial, you will have to be the one to retrieve Jay. This man, he can’t be seen fighting or helping anyone that isn’t authorized by the prime minister. He can locate Jay but not return him, understand? I will pay, but…”

“I don’t care! I will do whatever he needs me to do.” Abruptly, Danial was up and running to his room to get dressed. He was not going to waste a second more sulking if there was a way to get his Deku back. “Call him and set up that meeting, now!” He hollers from his room as he finishes getting dressed and walks back out into the living room to find his mother standing there with a mysterious blonde-haired man with a long tan fur lined coat and tan cargo pants, paired with black combat boots. ‘What the hell? Where did he come from? Who wears sunglasses indoors?’ Danial thinks as he studies the stranger with a raised eyebrow. The newcomers' golden eyes shined with a smug delight.

“Sorry, but Killian kind of followed me here. I had a feeling you would say yes so, I set up a meeting in advance.” Margret says grinning at her son is victory. She moves to the kitchen to start cleaning up as Killian smiles at the still speechless young blonde male.

“Nice to meet you kid! Heard your soulmate was stolen. When Margret here called me and asked for my help, I couldn’t refuse!” The golden eyed blonde said with an enthusiastic grin, closing his eyes while rubbing the back of his neck as he puts one leg behind the other, toes on the ground, balancing on one foot. Danial knows he shouldn’t, but there is something about this man that makes him both want to punch him and be his friend. ‘Annoying weirdo.’ He thinks, walking over to Keigo, holding out his hand to shake the others.

“Danial and thank you. How are we going to do this? Do I come with you, or do you just send me his location then I go in?” Danial asks, shaking the other blonde's hand before letting go and walking back over to the coffee table to grab his glass of whiskey from earlier, turning back to look at the strange man standing in his apartment as he takes a sip.

“Straight to business, I like it! You are definitely Marget's kid for sure. Anyways, I will go out alone and do my thing, but yes like she said earlier, I can NOT get my hands dirty or have anything lead back to me. So, I can do all the tracking and finding, but you gotta retrieve him yourself. I’m your tracking hound to your hunter so to speak.” There is a bright shining smile on this bizarre weirdo’s face, making Danial growl slightly. He was far to chipper for it being 9am and this being such a serious mission.

“Fine by me. What do you need from me to get started?” Killian grinned, grabbing himself a glass to pour himself a drink of Danial’s whiskey. Once he had his glass filled, he came to sit on one of the living room chairs, beside the couch, still grinning at the serious blonde.

“Relax kid, can’t think clearly without a relaxed mind. Plus, it’s easier to get stuff you want if you look like you’re having a day at the spa. I will need to look at Jay’s bag that was recovered from the scene and everything you know about this stalker.”

‘I wonder how he learned about Deku’s stalker?’ Danial thinks, as he downs the last little bit of his drink before getting up and slowly walking over to where the yellow bag sat, where it has sat since Jay has been gone. He stands there for a second, staring at the bag. Trying to will away the tears that want to fall.

After taking a couple of deep mind clearing breaths, he grabs the yellow bag and brings it over to Killian. Danial sits back on the couch, on the cushion closest to the new blonde male. They can hear Margret grumbling a string of curses from the kitchen as she continues to clean up, thinking it might be a good idea to just hire her rotten brat a maid till his jolly green giant returns.

Just as Keigo is about to bump out the bag on the coffee table, Margret looks over, remembering what is in that special bag and more specifically, what Danial can’t see.

“No wait!” She yells, running into the living room just as the contents are spilled. Both blonde males look over at her in bewilderment as the little black velvet box tumbles out of the bag and settles right in front of Danial. Margret’s storm-blue eyes widened in dread as she tried to snatch the box up before her brat, who was eyeing her like she had grown two heads.

“What the hell is wrong with Hag?! Did you finally crack?” Danial yells, when he realizes what she was after, his eyes spied the box suspiciously, snatching it up just before his mother could, extremely curious on why she wanted the box so badly.

“Danial, I need you to give me that box.” Margret said, her voice stern with a hint of anxiety. Killian just sat back in his chair, enjoying the show, casually looking through Jay’s clutter.

The youngest blonde male raised a skeptical eyebrow as he started to slowly open the box. Margret crosses her arms, taking a couple steps back, not knowing what to do or say.

She knew what was in the box. The week Jay bought it, he had shown up at their house with a huge, excited smile on his freckled face, the small velvet box in hand. Margret just about died from happiness, stars in her eyes as she pulled the man inside to see what he had chosen. When the tall brunette showed Liam and her the ring, they both thought Jay had made an excellent choice. They had spent the next couple hours trying to come up with ideas for how Jay should propose to their fiery boy.

“That was supposed to be a surprise.” Her voice was soft as Danial’s storm-blue eyes widened in wonder, tears starting to fall down his cheeks. His hand flew to cover his mouth as he let out a joyful sob.

He slowly pulled the beautiful engagement ring from the box, putting it on his ring finger. It fit perfectly.

‘Oh Deku.’ Danial’s heart ached for his lost love. To hold him, kiss him, to tell him he loves him, and to listen to Jay propose to him and for him to say yes. For them to have their happily ever after.

He stared at the ring on his finger, clenching his fists, his fierce storm-blue eyes looking up at the sympathetic golden eyes.

“We start immediately.” Danial growled out, ready to find his soulmate and to destroy those that took him from him. Killian grinned, a dangerous gleam in his eyes as he stood up from his seat.

“Then let's get to work, kid.”
