Chapter 365 Through the Other Doors

Chapter 365 Through the Other Doors
Dominic finally walked through his door at 10 PM.  Honestly, he could have come home much sooner, however, he had come up with so many excuses to extend his time with Lou at Lucian’s office.  Valerie and Lucian had been understanding to a point but finally everyone agreed it was getting late.  Lou still hadn’t mentioned anything about the dream walk from last night which made Dominic even more eager to invite her again tonight.  He got Rueben ready for bed and then had a bit of trouble deciding what to wear himself.  Remembering how she had checked him out earlier in the office, especially how she stared at the part of his chest visible through his shirt, Dominic decided to wear only his boxer briefs into the dream walk.

‘I’ll really give her something to stare at.’

He thought and chuckled as he climbed into bed, glancing at the clock.  It was almost midnight.  Again, grabbing her rubber covered scalpel from his bed side drawer and thinking about the things they could get up to in a sex club as he felt his limbs grow heavy and his body sink into the mattress.

Lou got out of the shower and checked her watch.  It was only 11 PM and she didn’t have to work tomorrow.  She was still wide awake from the eye opening way everyone, especially Dominic, handled her membership and confirmed usage of a local sex club.  She ran a towel over her wet hair and stood at the foot of her bed, trying to decide what to wear to bed.  It was the beginning of December, but she always got hot when she slept.  She decided, based on how sweaty her shirt was when she woke up last night, she may as well just go to sleep naked tonight.  She grabbed her tablet and climbed into bed.  She put on her blue light glasses and pulled up Kirstin’s email, eager to dive into the research she sent her.  She’d be lying if she didn’t admit the idea of some CIA studies didn’t peak her interest.  She laid on her side, situating her tablet so it leaned against a pillow as she casually read the articles one at a time, finding more studies and articles along the way.

Finally, her eyes began to get tired and she glanced at her watch again.  It was almost midnight and she’d been racing through this research.  After her brain had time to consolidate and sift through everything earlier today, she agreed Kirstin’s theory was…compelling.  This research in coordination with that was…convincing.  But she still had a rather large piece of her mind that was the hold out.  She just needed one more push in either direction.  She just had no clue how to get that.  Did she like Dominic?  Sure, he infuriated her but in a playful, I can’t get enough of you but you’re so goofy kind of way.  Did she see their chemistry together going beyond normal?  Absolutely, and it was immediate.  Did she see a future with him?  Now that is what gave her pause.  She’d never seen a future with anyone except herself.  Yet, this man, in the course of a few weeks had come in and shaken her view on life so deeply that while she didn’t see a future with anyone, she also couldn’t see a future without him in it.  It was a weird double edged sword she was balancing on.  She brought her hand up to try and stifle the yawn that still escaped.

‘Rest the eyes for a minute.  Then go from there.  Still lots to get through.’

She thought to herself as she leaned her head down against her pillow, her limbs growing heavy, her body sinking into her mattress as images of Dominic in his designer office clothes and his bright eyes and sexy smile flooded her mind.
———————————
Lou’s eyes opened and she was standing outside the cold steel doors again.

“Huh, a repeat dream.  Interesting.”

She mumbled as the door creaked open and she stepped through, seeing Dominic standing in the middle of the dark room that felt strangely warm and comforting, even with the black walls and metal chandelier.  Her breath caught as she took in the tanned Adonis in front of her in just a pair of black boxer briefs.  Her eyes scanned his body and she couldn’t turn off the medical lens she had.  His calves were well-shaped, built for power and also speed.  His knees looked well cared for.  Like he maintained the cartilage as best he could.  His thighs were impressive.  Strong.  Muscular.  He wasn’t about to run a marathon, but she wasn’t into the thin look anyways.  His tanned abs melted into that perfect v where it met his pelvis and she felt herself lick her lips without having thought about it.  She’d love to run her tongue along the chisled six pack onto his hard pecs.  His shoulders were strong but not bulky.  He was able to move and be agile without a lack of movement from over built muscles but he also looked like he could bench press her with one hand without even thinking about it.  His golden hair touched his shoulders and his bright eyes moved from looking out of the window to looking at her as she got closer to him.  His jaw going slack and his eyes wide as he looked at her.  She heard him mutter in Italian under his breath.

“Santo cielo.” (ENG: Holy fuck)

Lou followed his eyes and looked down.

“Oh god bless America!  What in the world?!”

She screeched, bringing her black hair around to cover her breasts and covering her pussy with her hands.  She could feel the blood rushing in her ears and knew she had to be as red as a tomato with embarrassment by now.  Sure, she had a great body.  But accidentally walking into anywhere naked when someone else was there, no matter who it was, was always humiliating.  Dominic quickly took three huge steps forward coming to stand right in front of her where she stopped and brushed her hair back over her shoulders.  Lou’s mouth opened to ask him what the fuck he thought he was doing when he gripped her arms gently.

“Don’t.  Please don’t.  You are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.  Don’t ever doubt how perfect you are, Lou.”

Lou met his gaze, her grey eyes meeting his bright blues.  Her shame replaced by a deep feeling of heat building in her core and spreading through her body like a wild fire in a California July.  She looked down to where his palms wrapped around her upper arms.

“How does your touch feel so…sensory…so real in a dream?”

“I think it’s a dream walk thing.  We’ll have to ask Kirstin.”

“This is really happening, isn’t it?”

“It is, Lou.”

“Kirstin sent me some research about this phenomenon.”

“The CIA studies?  Compelling stuff…”

“That’s one way to put it.”

“You don’t sound convinced yet.  Name it, Lou.  I’ll do anything to prove to you this is very much real.  We were meant to meet that day, Lou. I just know it.”

Lou was about to open her mouth when a door behind Dominic that neither of them had seen before creaked open, revealing a dazzling night sky.

“That a new door?”

“Fuck.  Yes.  I was hoping to get a few more of these under our belts before that happened.”

“Care to fill me in, Cowboy?”

“Yes, but listen fast because we have to go through those doors.”

“I can feel my body moving towards it.”

“Yea, here’s the abridged version of Kirstin’s advice.  We go back in time, usually to somewhere dramatic and dangerous and maybe relive a past life together.  Don’t get hurt, you wake up with the injury.  We have to find our anchor, which is your scalpel with a rubber tip on it, then go through somewhere, could be where we come in, could be somewhere that just feels right to get out of the dream.  We could get separated.  If it happens, keep your head down and stay safe. Main rule of thumb is intuition good, standing out bad.”

They were a few steps away from the door now and Lou looked at Dominic and watched as his jaw ticked.

“Tell me why we are doing this again?”

“Soul mate shenanigans?”

Dominic said before he grabbed a hold of her hand and they stepped through the door.
