Chapter 360 The Dream Walk
Chapter 360 The Dream Walk
Dominic was pacing his bedroom and talking to himself, Rueben following him thinking it was a game, squeaking and sliding across the floor on his stomach.
“All right, man. She’s been in her apartment for two hours. She last responded to my text forty-five minutes ago. I think she might be asleep. I think we should go for it.”
He changed Rueben's diaper and climbed into bed, reaching into his bedside table and pulling out one of Lou’s scalpels. He’d put a rubber knife cover over the end so the blade wasn’t a danger in bed with him.
“I think this is the perfect anchor.”
He muttered. She’d left it at Lucian’s penthouse after she treated him and she hasn’t mentioned it and he’s not giving it back until she does. He told Lucian he would but he has had no intention of giving back a momento of when they first met. He laid back down and held it to his chest as he pictured the way she called him ‘Cowboy’ while he was bleeding all over her hands. The way her touch was fire as she pulled down the waistband of his boxers that night. The way the room always smelled like freshly baked cinnamon rolls whenever she walked in. The way time seemed to stop whenever she wanted it to. He held the scalpel flat over his heart, clutching it tightly in his palm. He felt his limbs grow heavy as his body sank into the mattress.
Dominic’s eyes opened and he was standing in a room he’d never been in before. It had black walls, a concrete floor, huge floor to ceiling windows with silver colored frames. When he looked through the glass, all he could see were stars, everywhere, as far as the eye could see. An intricate metal chandelier hung above him. It was very industrial looking. Very modern. It reminded him of a Nine Inch Nails music video. There was a steel door in front of him and he was standing in the center of the room. It was a room that looked like it would be cold, but it wasn’t. It was perfectly comfortable. Dominic thought back to what Kirstin and Lucian told him about their rooms.
“Holy shit, did I do it? It this our room?”
He looked around taking it all in and nodding his head. It felt perfect for them. He suddenly remembered what they told him about appearing in the clothes he fell asleep in, glad he was wearing gym shorts and a T-shirt. He wanted to look natural but not lazy. He heard the creek of a metal door and looked up to see Lou stepping through, looking around until she saw him.
“Well, this is a new one.”
Dominic felt his heart rate spike. She was his soul mate. This proved it. What he was feeling was real. A surge of energy rushed through him and he took a step forward while trying to tamp down the urge to jump up and down and cheer.
“A new one?”
He tried to contain the joy in his voice, leveling it out to his normal neutral. She continued looking at him as she crossed the room.
“Oh yeah, every time you’re in my dreams you’re already inside of me or you’re tongue fuckin’ me.”
If Dominic was walking he would’ve fallen on his face with the way his knees shook at her admission. He knew he was blushing and quickly lowered his hands to cross over his now very hard dick. He coughed and then, feeling like he had himself semi-under control, raised an eyebrow as he cleared his throat.
“You…uh…you dream of me, Dragon Lady?”
She stood in front of him now, her hip cocked out to the side, too large t-shirt hitting her mid-thigh and hair up in a messy bun.
“Aren’t I currently?”
She gestured around them.
“Though, Cowboy, this is far more interactive than it usually is.”
Dominic was so tempted to just do what she said dream him usually did in her dreams, but he wasn’t going to take advantage of the situation. He was bursting with joy that he wasn’t as lost of a cause as he sometimes felt. He wasn’t destined to be alone and unseen for the rest of his life. His soulmate was absolutely perfect. He could barely believe it. But Kirstin’s words about Lou’s medical mind meaning she’s probably not going to think this is what it really is at first so he’s going to need to nurture her over the next week or so with these dream walks. Which he was more than willing to do.
Dominic studied her as she stood in front of him. Her arms crossed against her chest, pushing her breasts up enough to make his mouth water while her
foot tapped with impatience. She was clearly expecting him to do something like he did in her other dreams. Instead, he decided to go an opposite direction.
“How was your day, Lou?”
She blinked at him as if the question was the last thing she expected to hear.
“How was my day? Are my wet dreams just conversations now?”
He laughed and scratched the back of his head.
“I don’t know about wet dreams, but I really enjoy having conversations with you.”
She smiled and shook her head, looking too cute for her own good.
“Me too, Cowboy, me too.”
She sat down on the ground, crossing her legs. The oversized t-shirt hiding just enough to not be scandalous. Dominic joined her on the ground and they talked about their days. He told her he and Lucian had lunch with Nial and Kirstin over the phone. She told him about the gym in her building having turf so she was able to play soccer by herself for two hours that morning and then wrote up the potential final exam for her students. He made a mental note to ask her more about that and also hack into the cameras in the gym, if there were any.
“So, how’s Rueby?”
‘Sir Rueben Trash-a-lot is spoiled, of course.”
They both laughed and talked about plans for the rest of the week. Dominic was trying to find an angle into asking her about the sex club but he never found a good enough one to justify his knowledge of her going there.
Finally, the door behind her that she’d already come through creaked open. The metal making a loud screech.
“I get the feeling I should go back through that door.”
She said as Dominic just nodded his head and stood up, reaching out his hand to help her join him. When her palm touched his, they both shivered at the fire that coursed through them.
“Well, it was really good seein’ you in my dreams tonight, Cowboy, this was different.”
“Good different or bad different?”
He asked her, feeling a little nervous for what she would say.
“Both, I think.”
She shrugged her shoulders and Dominic decided it was probably the best case scenario of an answer. She physically wanted him which was a win, but
she also enjoyed talking to him…also a win in his book.
She stepped forward, giving him a kiss on the cheek and turned to walk out.
“I’ll text you about soccer sometime around noon, Lou.”
Dominic called behind her, an idea suddenly hitting him to help prove this is more than just dreams. She waved a hand over her shoulder dismissively.
“Yeah, okay, dream Cowboy in my head…you text me ‘bout soccer at noon and I really will get the vapors likea Southern Belle. Actually, if you text me ‘bout soccer at noon, I’ll cook you my own grits recipe and I don’t ever cook for nobody!”
She giggled as she turned and waved one more time before she stepped through the metal door.
Dominic’s eyes opened and he set an alarm in his phone to text her about soccer at noon that day. It was tempting to do it now, but he wanted to be as exact as he could be about that promise. He smirked to himself, knowing exactly what she was thinking. He was very excited to blow her mind.
