Chapter 355 What Are You Doing Here?
Chapter 355 What Are You Doing Here?
Dominic stepped off of the elevator on the ninth floor, pulled his key out of his pocket and quickly stepped inside before anyone saw him. Halen and Travis were probably out at a nightclub or a business wine and dine and the William’s were at their home in Arizona this time of year. But still, couldn’t be too careful. He stood in the middle of the dark apartment, pulling his night vision glasses out of his pack and standing in the foyer, waiting for a clue as to where she’d taken herself. Sure, he could turn on the light since he owned it, and put furniture in there and stuff, but that would require him being around during times where she could potentially see him and he wasn’t ready for that…yet. He could always argue he didn't know where she lived. But even she would find that incredibly hard to believe. She knew, by now, how thorough he was when he researched people. She even said herself that she knew he had a docket on her. He wouldn’t put cameras in her apartment, no matter how tempting it was, even he admitted that was a step too far. But, these walls were thin as paper so once he figured out what room she was in, he could listen. Every night since he bought the place under a ghost name, he'd just listen as she fell asleep. He figured tonight would be more of the same, but he never knew. Plus, he found, even with a wall between them, being closer to her brought him some weird kind of peace like he’d never known before.
He smiled when he heard the water turn on. He knew from the schematics of the building that his master bathroom shower shared a wall with hers which always offered his mind a fun little adventure, imaging her rubbing soap all over her perfectly full breasts and muscular hips. After all of the threats surrounding Valerie, some of which due to her relationship with Lucian, Dominic liked staying until she fell asleep. He came over one night when she was working a shift at the hospital, dressed in a uniform for a security system company, and installed a camera at his front door and by the elevators pointed towards her front door so he’d know when she left and if anyone else came and went. Since then, he hadn’t seen anyone except her come and go from her apartment, which made him feel….well, amazing. Especially after her little ‘vice versa’ comment tonight about their love lives and hook ups before they met. But, did that count for things now that they know the other one exists but haven’t even kissed yet? Dominic ran a hand down his head as he sat down on the bench of his shower and typed into the search bar of the internet on his tablet.
‘Is it cheating if you aren’t in a relationship?’
Everything came back as not cheating. He didn’t know why he hated that answer. She was his. He was hers. Dominic wasn’t even sure if he could get it up for anyone that didn’t have black hair, grey eyes, and a southern accent anymore. Hell, the idea of a woman over five feet tall turned him off. She’d rocked everything about his world without even knowing it. Without even touching him in that way. His mind began spiraling. Did she even like him like that? Was he already friend-zoned? He was far too scared to ask her. But he felt like he may explode if he didn’t find out soon. He leaned his head back against the cool tile and closed his eyes.
“Fuck me harder, Cowboy.”
‘What in the actual fuck was that?’
Dominic sat straight up, his eyes wide in the dark room. He heard soft moaning and panting as he leaned his ear against the shower wall, trying to hear anything else. Her moans started growing louder and before Dominic could think twice, he had his dark jeans unzipped and his rock hard erection in his hand. Knowing he had nothing in this apartment to act as lubrication, he spit in his palm and began pumping up and down, biting his lip to keep himself silent as he knew how sound carried between the walls.
“Yes, just like that, Dominic. Don’t…stop…I’m…cummin’….Dominic…Dominic…DOMINIC!”
“Oh fuck, Lou.”
He whispered to himself as he covered the tip of his cock with his other hand, catching his jizz as it flew out. He leaned his head back against the bench, trying to steady his breathing before he walked to the sink and rinsed his wad off of his hand, wiping it dry against the leg of his pants.
“Did that really just fucking happen? Universe, did you just answer my questions? Holy shit, I can’t believe that just fucking happened!”
He felt giddy and had to remind himself to keep it down. He resumed his position on the bench until the water turned off and then moved to the empty bedroom and sat with his back against the wall, knowing her bedroom was just on the other side. She usually fell asleep pretty quickly after she showered from a long day at work. He knew she had to be pretty exhausted since adding their little dinner, should he call it a date now that he knew she at least physically wanted him? Yes, a date. After their little date tonight added another four-ish hours to her day. He could hardly believe how fast time flew just sitting and talking with her. He heard her footsteps stop and knew she’d climbed into bed. He’d wait for another little bit and then sneak out and head home, telling himself he’d be satisfied with the camera feeds showing if she was in any danger.
Dominic glanced at his phone. It was midnight. He figured now’s as good a time as any and he zipped up his backpack and rose to leave, walking through the apartment, taking a few minutes to look out at the skyline through the huge floor to ceiling windows. It really was a great view. Better than his condo and roughly similar square footage.
‘Wonder what the policy is on furry trash children?’ He thought before he heard footfalls coming from Lou’s apartment in the silence of the night. Too heavy to be bare feet. He yanked his phone out of his pocket frantically, no movement alerts from either camera he’d installed. He ran towards the front door, worried he’d missed something. As his hand gripped the handle he heard her door open and shut, her footsteps moving down the hallway towards the elevators. The camera feeds confirming it was, in fact, Lou.
‘Where in the fuck are you going at midnight, little lady?’
He thought to himself, frozen in place to not get caught, but his mind whirring like a freight train.
Was this a booty call? Was it a super late night dinner date? Was she secretly a crime fighting vigilante? He secretly hoped it was the third one out of the three. Not that he wanted her in danger, but it meant she wasn’t leaving her apartment, after masturbating in her shower thinking of him, to go get railed by someone else.
He heard the elevator ding and counted backwards from twenty before racing out of the door, bypassing the elevator, and taking the stairs, jogging down to the garage level. He watched as she tossed her leg over the side of her bike, starting it. Dominic began slinking around the far wall towards his own bike he’d driven and parked hidden between two large SUVs, out of sight from her bike in case something unpredictable, like tonight, happens. Once he saw her make a right out of the garage onto the main road, he started his own bike and took off after her, staying six car lengths back. He could still see her, but she had no reason to suspect she was being followed. When he saw her pull into the industrial district, all of the businesses blacked out for the night while no one was there, he was completely confused.
‘What in the fuck are you doing here?’
When she pulled into a parking lot, Dominic decided to do a few laps of the next door building. No one else was around, yet this parking lot had at least thirty cars in it.
‘Where are all of these people?’
He drove around, looking for some weird bar or something where the people who parked there were. He turned and saw as Lou, carrying her helmet under her arm, walked between two buildings on a sidewalk. He parked in the parking lot, away from her bike, and ran to see where she was heading. He walked up and down the sidewalk twice, only seeing two buildings, all dark, that were offices and IT set ups.
“Where in the fuck did she go?”
He muttered aloud, baffled at her sudden disappearing act. All he saw was one set of concrete stairs leading down to a steel door. Everything was silent. If people were in there, he’d be able to hear them. He went back to his bike and moved it to around the corner of another building, positioning himself so he could look straight down the walkway where she disappeared.
He kept fidgeting with his phone in his pocket, debating with himself before he finally caved and, pulling it out, fired off a text to Lou.
Dominic: Hey, had a really good time with you tonight. I hope you made it home safe and get a good night's sleep.
He stared at his screen until about five minutes later he saw three dots jump up and down on the screen and the knot in his stomach loosened, just a bit. If she were with smeone else, surely she wouldn't be texting him back or even on her phone at all.
Lou: That good night is mutual, Cowboy. Have a good night.
Dominic studied her words, searching any clue, trying to read between the lines and coming up, disappointingly, empty. On one hand, she also had a good night. That was something to celebrate. On the other hand, she didn't say shit about being home or sleeping.
Finally, at 2AM, he heard the faint creak of metal and EDM music then he saw Lou, looking the exact same as she did when she left her apartment, come up from the stairs. As she crossed the street to the parking lot, her steps were heavy, her shoulders tight.
‘Frustrated? Angry?’
As she pulled away, Dominic again followed her until he saw her pull into her apartment’s garage before he headed home, more confused about this woman than ever before.
