Chapter 62 LOSING MORE
VANCE'S POV
(Earlier that day)
"The ritual was successful and Curtis is due to awaken in at least two days."
"Thank you, Miriam. As expected, you always come through." With a heavy heart, I accepted that I would have to talk to this asshole soon.
"Let me know when you are ready for me to dig into his brain," Miriam told me over the phone. "The energy around him is dark." It was clear that she perceived something unnerving with Curtis.
"Has he crossed over?" I asked, concerned that his character was no longer good.
Miriam replied moments later, "He is on the fence, Alpha." The clicking noises suggested that she was using her runes while we spoke.
In light of this, I vowed to kill him and dismember his body so thoroughly that not even his skull would be left behind if he continued to aid whoever was pursuing Sianna. Never had I imagined that I would go through this much trouble for my mate. Previously to having one, I envisioned a serene life as we governed the pack together and raised our family.
Curtis was a bloodsucking parasite that I was willing to give a chance of redemption. But now that I knew of his involvement with this shadow, my motivation to kill him had surged.
Waking him up was for the sole purpose of getting out of him who was the one behind the murder attempt. That night, Sianna's pain sank deep into me as her shrilling cries penetrated through the pack, and refused to let any of us near them when she rocked lifeless Hailey in her arms.
Fortunately, Sianna was able to heal Hailey, a secret that was to remain in the dark but was known to the pack now, because the hospital staff realized that Hailey had come back to life.
Based on her conduct this morning, I do not think she remembered the power that channeled out of her. Her shrieking voice had smashed glass panes. She had used such incredible force that it was amazing to witness the glasses break and watch the staff members cower and run away from the splinters.
I could hear the pack talking as they disseminated the information in waves. They rejoiced at having someone as strong as their Luna to govern and guard them.
The truth was that many men would like her to carry their child. So, even if I was happy about her strength and ability, that knowledge stirred my wolf. My Luna had become most desireable to other men. My wolf was bound to turn up the possessive meter by a notch.
Because a healer's blood could treat wounds, illnesses, and other minor conditions, her skill was highly valued. Curing someone required much control of the reconstructing essence that she would be releasing into that person. Overdoing it could result in self-immolation or internal injuries. Blood from the eyes, ears, and nose would be one of those symptoms.
Bringing the dead back to life was a difficult effort. It was life-draining and was not advised unless absolutely necessary, even witches dare not do it. Thus, I had to protect her. Training was mandatory for Sianna to assert her powers when she needed to. Miriam would be the best person to train her.
In the phone, I sighed, forgetting that Miriam was on the line. "My boy, don't worry. We will solve this soon. I know your job is overwhelming but your pack is with you till the end."
"Let's contain this situation." These words were more to myself than to her.
"You should go home to your wife by noon. Avoid detours. Stay alert, my son. A sword is levelled towards you." Miriam's voice went ghostly.
"I'll do that. I'm expecting a visitor, and then I will leave for home." Her admonitions were not to be taken lightly. Whosoever the enemy was, I wanted that person to come at me directly, but not in proximity to Sianna.
We ended the call on that note.
Before I could glimpse at the documents sitting on my desk, the mind-link was poked open.
"Alpha, Raj of the White Clovers Pack is here and being sent to the pack house." Warrior Nichols reported through a mind-link. "I'll expect him," I replied.
In fifteen minutes, an omega escorted the Indian Gamma to my office. I summoned him in at the knocking at the door. Duke and Blayne were investigating the cases that presented themselves and would not be present.
I whipped my head upwards to inspect his demeanor. He was nervous and had wrinkles from sleeplessness despite his well- dressed attire. I gestured for him to sit when he greeted me.
"Alpha Vance," his tired voice was weak. "Good day."
"Raj, you look like crap. Is this how you want Hailey to see you?" No need to beat around the bush and be hypocritical.
He chuckled slightly, "No, but how can I be doing any better than her right now? I am feeling her pain and tears."
"I'm seriously sorry for your loss." I gave my condolences.
He looked down at the ground and nodded. He was clearly in a state of grief, so I won't keep him in my office any longer.
"As long as you have your Alpha Juan's consent to stay here, take all the time you need to mend your relationship with Hailey." I encouraged.
"Yes, Alpha," he said, not saying much else. I gathered that the only person that he desperately wanted to see or talk to, was his
mate.
"I've asked Sammy to assist you while you stay here." Another knock brought our gaze to the door. "Enter," a shy Sammy appeared at the door. She dipped a curtsy and kept her head bowed.
"She will show you to the vehicle outside which you have full access for the meantime, and then take you to the room to settle in." I handed him a set of two keys. "Be strong for your mate. She needs your strength." He took it from my hands and allowed Sammy to lead him out.
The rest of the day was consumed by paperwork. Occasionally, I had conversations with Sianna via the mental link to discover that she was on her way to visit Hailey. On that account, I carried on with the work.
I could not help but concur with all she said as the joy about our child's nursery twinkled in her eyes. She had access to my cards, and I told her to act however irrationally she pleased.
Even though the mate connection is a supernatural power that unites two wolves for all time, I've come to understand that every relationship has its share of difficulties. I sincerely hope Raj and Hailey will manage to get through this challenging time.
Duke was infuriated and on the trail of finding who attempted to hurt our mates. Blayne was struggling with his mate and stepdaughter while having to investigate the death of our two warriors. At present, I've got more than a hundred Alphas to deal with.
I am assembling a communication that halts the Rogue Integration System. In the interim, permission must be obtained from me before accepting more rogues into the existing packs. The cessation was in place until I tracked down the offender in my nack

The paperwork for the mountain rogues was fully finished and awaiting their signatures. In another day, the swearing-in ceremony takes place at the border where they camped. The rest of their group was making it down the mountain today. Matron Madeline and her omega teams were in charge of coordinating the area.
My work took me up past 5 pm. My Beta and Gamma stayed out of the office doing the aforementioned. The promise to be home early hung in the back of my mind all day, coupled with the warnings that Miriam gave. I was eager to experience Sianna's hands all over my body. My wolf and I greatly anticipated going home. She's so amazing.
Perhaps I should meet her at the Smithson's and we could drive home together. I closed the folder, shut down the laptop, and tidied up the desk. My day was finally over.
"Duke, Blayne, I am going home for today." I used the mind-link, took my jeep keys out of the drawer, and stood.
On my first step, a pain delved into me, forcing my body to sit down in my chair and I rubbed the spot on my chest. Not another one again.
"Blayne, another warrior is harmed." I swiftly conveyed the message, and released a painful sigh. This motherfucker had to die. "I'm on it, Alpha. Do you know the location?" Blayne responded.
Putting away my anger, I searched the bond to let the pain guide me to the person. "It's northwest from the Black Ops patrol station."
"That's closer to you," he replied, "I'll catch you there."
Dashing out of the office, I was halfway to the area when another pain caused my footing to miss and I stumbled. This was a different pain, a second one and a third, that indicated that two additional persons were hurt.
My breathing ragged and my senses heightened. I shifted into my wolf to search for the other two. Blayne was already on his way to the first warrior in the northwest region. So I hurriedly scanned the bond to locate the other hurt pack members. A pale, feeble voice broke into my concentration.
"Alpha"
"Alpha, h-he-lp"
