Chapter 26 PREPARATIONS

Chapter 26 PREPARATIONS

Curtis' POV

I called after Sianna as she ran away from me but she kept on going. Damn! How could she want us to be over? I wasn't having it. She was mine!
I went back into the room for my bag and signed the discharge forms before leaving the hospital. I went directly to the conference room at the pack house to hear the final details of the mission.
There were several things to do before setting out. We had to eat a substantial meal, register for our weapons, and load our utility belts with canisters, silver beads, and bombs. This was the time we were putting all our gear and equipment to make the march to the rogue's location.
The Gamma and Alpha came to give us a motivation speech. The gamma gave us the tackle plans and the method we would use to surround the rogue territory. The alpha assured us that we were strong and could maneuver the mission successfully. He thanked us for our efforts and hoped that we all made it back to our pack and families.
I was observing the Alpha as he spoke. I should have found out from Sianna if she was reprimanded by the Alpha that night. Perhaps she would have mentioned it if he scolded her. He never glanced at me, not even once when his eyes scanned the large
room.
I admired him and knew he was not to be fucked with. I have seen him take down other Alphas and werebears when they crossed him. Werebears were another type of shifter, but their animalistic counterpart was transforming into a bear. They were stronger than our kind but we were swifter and more intellectual. They lived in their communities up in the mountains.
Usually, species do not mix unless mated to another. Surprisingly, a werewolf can be mated to a bunny shifter but it happens. According to the laws of the Supernatural Triad Council, they can choose to live jointly in either their home realm or in the mixed pack territory that was reserved for them.
Nonetheless, Alpha Vance was very tactical and he operated as if he was capable of mind manipulation. He was formidable and one of the greatest men throughout the earth for his accomplishments.
Our pack was blessed to have him as our leader. He didn't treat us badly. The pack was mostly peaceful because we kept the rules. His Beta and Gamma always whipped us back in line if we ever broke them. But underneath the ferocity, they were cool guys when the forum presented itself.
Blayne was a lady's man, hasn't found his mate as yet, and could crack jokes on the training ground most times. He told Rohan that he hit like a girl and even his grandmother could throw a harder punch. We all laughed. It was funny to see Rohan being embarrassed but that got him to train harder to excel in his combat skills. Rohan has become one of the top elite candidates because failure is never an option.
If it weren't for this mission, I would have pursued Sianna and convinced her that we will get through this. I secretly vowed to be open and honest with her from now onward. She knew most of the happened and the reminded was there that she wanted to know how far the intimacy with Jazmine went.
I am debating whether or not to tell her about the intimate moments, after all, Jazmine lived in a different pack, so their paths were not guaranteed to cross. Telling her would put us back to square one. I could explain that we kissed once, and that was when she snapped the picture.
Although I wasn't expecting her to post it. After she attempted to harm herself, I gave her almost everything that she asked for. The mate bond with Jazmine was conclusively bothersome. My wolf idolized the attention, as for me, it was creating a mountain of issues.
When Sianna touched my cheeks at the hospital, I felt a charge run through my body. It was not similar to the mate bond touch, nor was there any spark, but something happened between us and it made me more compelled to fight for her. It was a connection that engraved on my attitude to not surrender our love.
I missed her. I didn't text back Jazmine. She knew I was going on a mission so she would have to wait until I got back for us to talk. I shouldn't have kissed her but the undeniable pull made it happen. I'll keep away from her and stick around Sianna until she accepted me back. I am not giving up.
Just then, the gamma summoned all ten elite candidates into a separate part of the conference room. He quickly encouraged us in our feat. He mentioned that the results from our training has exceeded his expectations and that he was confident that we were capable of great things.
We were not to be nervous with this battle and as long as we followed protocol and directives, we should be alright. He asked us not to play the hero but to know that our contributions would be valuable to the overall objective.
The Alpha will be present and so would he. The Beta will stay back to oversee the pack. I prayed to be on the Gamma's team because of my wound. If I mess up around the Gamma, he could be lenient, unlike the Alpha who would throw me off the team. Blayne left to dialect with the Alpha Vance.
"Hey man, our first mission!" Malik sat beside me with his shoes in his hands. His tall blonde hair caught to the back of his head in a ponytail.
"Let's not die people!" Levi stood behind us with each hand on one of our shoulders.
"Don't jinx it." Thomas jeered him with a jovial glare. "You are the puniest one here."
"My speed is the best." Levi retorted with a brag.
Kevin was mostly quiet and hung with Wade and Daniel. He smiled at me and sometimes I thought he was gay, but he a mean machine in training with the best stamina. I had to train outside of hours to finally catch up to him.
Phillip put on his army watch and fidgeted with his black armor vest. Daniel smoked his cigarette and stared at the others across the room. Elias was doing some stretches to calm his anxiety while Rohan leaned on the wall observing us.
"We can do this. This is what we live for. The battle, the adrenalin, the rush!" Elias encouraged.
"Aye aye!" We agreed.
Malik looked at my wound with concern, "How did you manage to let a rogue fuck you up this badly. You can't fight for shit without us, but we've got your back!"
smiled knowing that we could be so brotherly because we trained every day together for the past six months. Also glad that no one insisted on the details behind this wound.
We would be camping out in the fields before we set out to battle. I got in the tent and rolled out the sleeping bag that was issued to me. I laid my head down and surprisingly fell asleep. We were ordered to rest until the call is made for us to get dressed in our gears.
I awoke to check my bandage and decided to do a quick change of it. I asked Malik to help me and he proceeded. As Malik and I unwrapped the bandage and gauze we were appalled that my skin was miraculously back to normal. Its smoothed cream surface showed no punctured wounds.
"Is this for real?" I patted and rubbed my skin checking its surface.
"You healed nicely," Malik observed because he was the only one that I confided in, even though he spread the fiction about the rogue story. "But I thought you said the Alpha wounded you. How are you healed?"
It was a mystery that I couldn't solve until we got back home. U sing my fingers, I examined my skin again, I thought maybe I was sleeping or delusional from medication. Nope, I was healed. "Don't mention this to anyone." I entreated.
"I won't. You and I are good like that." He said and walked outside.
I arched my brow in curiosity at the conundrum of my healing. How or when did it happen? My mind slipped back to remembering when Sianna touched me at the hospital and my shoulder twitched three times. Could it be that Sianna is a healer? Only special bloodlines were healers and Alpha's liked to claim them as their chosen Luna. Alpha Vance was mateless, he can't find out about her. However, keeping this vital information away from him would result in our punishment.
Healers possessed the greatest gift because they save lives regardless of the species. If a pack was not powerful to protect them, they were hunted and enslaved to be used to what end? This was huge. Would Alpha Vance protect her, or would he want to claim her?
There was a healer discovered in the Shadow Storm Pack twenty years ago. The pack was slaughtered by a Vampire who was dying and wanted to be saved. She went on the run and it was Alpha Vance and our Elite team that rescued her. During that time she found her mate at Midnight Warriors Pack. Being the third largest pack, she was situated there.
But Sianna live in our pack, even his Gamma could claim her if the Alpha didn't. I have to mark her as the main way to keep her. Alright, I have to deal with my girlfriend when I get back. Right now, I had to focus and be in battle mode.
Within the next three hours, we were all set to go. I loaded my armor vest and utility belt. Checked my guns and bullet supply once more and with one final look over myself, I joined the teams outside.
"Wade, Curtis, Phillip, Levi, and Malik." Gamma Blayne came over to us as we clustered together. "You will be on the alpha's team. Make your way over to the tent in the middle."
Fuck!
