Chapter 133 2-5-SPEAK!
\-VANCE'S POV-
Shuddering gaps from her mouth caused blood to dribble down her
chin. She was so fragile considering that I hadn't applied a full method of torture to this mermaid. The saline water was a
requirement for her healing. Therefore, staying hostage on the shoreline was certain to enhance her injuries to a critical state. Prolonged time on land was their number one weakness.
In the shallows, the choppy waves broke around the rocks and their foaming crests formed erratic tracery over the azure. Sianna's apprehension was rising through our mate bond. Suddenly, I missed her scent. My rage seared. A perfectly good night with my mate was ruined by this vile sea creature.
"End this now." My wolf wanted her blood now. I hated to repeat myself to this half-fish. Still crouched in front of her, all my nails became claws as I flashed them in her face.
"Don't mermaids make good tuna rolls?" My wolf wondered amusingly.
Chad scouted the left end of the coast while Wade covered the right side. Rohan kept his eyes on the rough sea for any indication that more merfolk would attack us. Additionally, Gavin patrolled the grove behind us. He wanted to be far away from her, fearing that she might get him under her spell again.
Levi took a position in one of the Japanese black pine trees amidst the mangroves for a high view to look deep into the dark blue horizon of the night. Gong, Elias, and I remained at triangular points with the mermaid in the center.
"Speak!" I enunciated with pure hostility.
In fright, she jerked and mumbled sibilantly with an Icelandic accent, "You are the king of beasts and you have done wrong to my people. Do not act as though you are ignorant of your tyranny."
"How does my reign affect your people?" I inquired rather politely, even though my eyes blazed unwaveringly.
She laughed mockingly, "You insult me, King." She spat a slime of blood again at my feet to disrespect me. "Your werelions hunt us. We can hardly live on our islands anymore. They harbor at our shores for two years now. We cannot go in or out. Some of my people are stranded on your land because you won't leave us the hell alone."
Merfolks lived in the deep waters of Oscianever Loch of the Pacific Ocean. Their kingdom resided at its depths. On the deserted islands of Holmeva Ferney, which consisted of many lagoons, they also occupied since they can shift their scaly tails into legs to be on land.
The Merfolk stayed clear of land walkers and we did not disturb them. Peace was predominant when species did not interfere with each other. Now on top of all the issues of my werewolf realm, I've got to add these fetid aquatic creatures to my list.
Cough! Cough! She heaved.
"Woman, do I look like a fucking kitten to you? Werelions are a personal problem of the merfolk. It still does not justify why you attacked my queen," I retorted.
The minute I ended my statements, she lowly rasped, "A werelion killed my mate. "They took hundreds of lives simply because we will not go with them."
"They killed your mate and so you came here to kill mine." I roughly grabbed a portion of her black hair so that it burned at the scalp by yanking it back. The exposure of her flexing thyroid cartilage as she swallowed lumps of panicking bile tempted me to rip it out, thus ending her life.
"An eye for an eye, King. Take your lions and leave us alone." She hissed with imprudence. "We will not help you get what you want. The ocean belongs to us."
"You are railing at the wrong crowd. Werelions have their own government. Each species was confined to their respective territory." Coldly, I reinforced the laws that everyone on Earth knew. My eyes flashed as I gripped her hair tighter and she muffled a yelp.
"No, no, no," Bitterness bore through her Icelandic. "The werelions said that Alpha King sent them to enslave our people to do their bidding. The Athoribis amulet sleeps at the core of the earth for a reason."
Releasing her hair, I gazed at her thoughtfully. "I see."
Things became clearer. If there was truth to her tale, then those pussycats were seeking power for their pride. It made things interesting. The fight for supremacy will never end.
"Stupid girl. They are stirring your people into making war with my wolves. I'll definitely wipe your home out if any of you start targeting my people. Now," I used a claw to lift her chin, "Are there any more of you who are coming after my family?"
|| '..." She glared at me, twisting her mouth in a resentful seal.
It did not matter that she kept silent. It would not buy her time nor spare her life. White fuzz ashen her pale skin. A sign of urgency to get
into the sea.
"You are both daring and foolish to make trouble for me in hopes that my retaliation would free you from your kitty-cat problem." I darkly chuckled. "Does your kind know nothing about alliance proposals?"
"Can you not help us if you have no authority over them?" This time the acid depleted from her voice as she appealed. "If you are without blame, can you not help us get rid of them?"
I snickered. "You robbed yourself of that when you sent a spear at my
queen." My claw pierced the pale skin of her chin, coloring it with red blood. "Your actions tonight have made merfolks my enemy." My patience evaporated. "And this is what I do to my foes."
With death at her feet, she whined in the utmost fear and weakly tried to push her shuddering body away from me.
"Join your mate in merheaven." In one accurate swipe, my claws
amputated her head. It fell to the sand and then her lifeless mass dropped sideways. Putrid blood befouled the air as it splashed across the sand, spewing from her severed neck.
Feeling no less anger, I walked to the sea, standing at ankle height water, and bent to wash my bloody hand.
"Elias, clean this up. We leave for Dark Wolverson immediately." I erected my torso and raked my hair back. Then I turned and trudged to where the two Alphas stood. "Chad, your team will stay behind to oversee the coastline and if any more mermaids show up, alert me without delay."
Gong and Holderfield shifted to their dark grey wolves, sitting in their rear, waiting for my orders.
"Let's go." I joined them with happiness to go back to Sianna, dying to hold her in my arms again. We made our way to the hotel faster
than when we were heading to the shore.
My wolf had an extra determination to get Sianna away from Fernando. I agreed. I wanted to be in my pack and at home with my
kids.
It would be a fifteen minute drive to the airport. After we board the jet, it would be another hour's flight home.
Warrior guards were everywhere as patrols increased significantly. Sianna was at the entrance of the hotel with a change of clothes in her hands, waiting for me. Upon seeing my return, she smiled in relief and ran halfway down the wide granite steps, jumping into my arms. This was how she greeted me after a battle. Although, one foolish and pathetic mermaid could hardly count as such.
I twirled with her and delivered a passionate kiss before putting her
down. Her roses and strawberry scent enveloped me. It kicked the foul fishy odor from my nostrils. Her touch instantly soothes my overworking mind and, in this moment, I desire to have more of her and less of the troublesome world.
She handed me the clothes and I took them, then put them on. At the same time, she wiped my forehead with a cold towel and after standing to zip and button my pants, she wiped my heavily perspired
chest.
When I slung on the cream button-front dress shirt, it was then that
I picked up another scent. I growled at her, not bothering to button
up.
Reading my displeasure, she slapped the cold towel across my chest, "Don't even start with that. You can shred them when we get to the jet, but for now, his clothes with do."
I puffed. His scent made me want to kill him. My wolf hated smelling him on us. Fuck it! Fernando could have done better.
Inwardly, I vowed that if he wore a smirk when I looked at him after entering the large ballroom, I would most definitely take his daylight out. Sianna and I climbed the steps and everyone went silent upon my presence in the room. Several warriors surrounded a blonde- haired man kneeling in silver cuffs in the center of the room. The
aura of the other angry Alphas was potently palpable.
I glanced at Sianna because something had occurred while I went hunting for the mermaid. The detained man's clothes were bloodied
and scars on his face were slowly healing. They had beaten him.
"Alpha King, we have been able to confirm that Alpha Ezekiel escorted the mermaid as his date to the ceremony." Fernando related
as he bowed to me. I want to fucking hate this Alpha but he did a great job at conducting further investigations so that we could close this case as soon as possible.
Glaring down at Ezekiel, who appeared terrified, my vision went red.
My wolf raged with ending the Alpha's life immediately. Though Sianna's intoxicating scent hindered my diabolic wrath from
building to its brim.
"Alpha, she had me under her spell. I could not say no to her. Please believe me!" he cried with his head downward from meeting my monstrous eyes. Unashamed tears tumbled down to the floor as his shoulders hunched and his body shook in terror.
"Look at me," I uttered dryly.
Hesitantly, he raised his head and his pleading eyes went to Sianna
instead of me. It enraged my wolf further as I snarled, "Don't dare look at my woman!"
"Alpha king, please. I would not harm the queen of my own free
will," he begged, and I wanted to cut out his tongue and feed it back
to him.
"Your fate was sealed when you brought her here!" My voice boomed and he trembled to the point where he fell on his side, squirming. Gently releasing Sianna's hold from my arm, I took slow steps to
finish him off.
"Wait, wait, wait." He screamed and his bulging eyes filled with dread. "They want your son."
