Chapter 39 Having a Tryst with the Alphas?
Elsie’s pov
“Keep that up,” Tristan grumbled roughly, “and I’m not responsible for what happens next.”
A cold shiver ran down my spine. “Is that a warning?” I managed to croak out. The pressure was pressing down on me but it only proved stimulating.
“It’s a promise.”
That made my stomach flip. Annoyingly so. I turned away to avoid his heated look, lifting the fabric slightly. “You’re very confident.”
Tristan leaned in just a little behind me. “You like that.”
“I tolerate it,” I shrugged.
“Liar,” he called me out a little too fast.
I rolled my eyes, but I couldn’t stop the small smile tugging at my lips. “You’re impossible.”
“And you’re standing in front of me like this, so I’d say we’re even.” Tristan laughed loudly.
That was a new side to him. I much preferred it compared to the domineering Alpha he played with his mother around.
My heart sank as the thought crossed my mind. Their mother. This wasn’t going to last long if she came sooner. Yet being there right with them was more reassuring than I wanted. I was slowly trusting them. Slowly.
That actually flustered me for a second.
I recovered quickly putting on a smile. I would let myself be excited about this. I had never had a proper shopping experience that wasn’t affiliated to proving something. I wanted to shop just for the sake of it.
“Focus,” I said, picking up another outfit. “I asked for opinions.”
Topher was on the move. He scrutinized the options in my hands with a shocking amount of concentration that almost seemed comical. “That one,” he said, pointing to a softer piece. “It suits you.”
“Because it’s less scandalous?” I teased.
He scratched the back of his head before nodding. “I’m not confident about my restraints so best to start small.”
His comment made me laugh.
Tyler let out a quiet huff. “Don’t listen to him. Try the other one.”
“The shorter one?” I scoffed playfully.
He answered instantly. “Yes. It’s hotter.”
I looked between the three of them, amused. “You’re not making this easier.”
“Clearly,” Topher glared at Tyler.
I turned slightly, holding both options against myself as I faced the mirror.
“Well?” I asked. “Final decisions?”
Tristan’s voice came from just behind me again. “Try both.”
I glanced at his reflection. “Greedy.”
“Very.”
I shook my head, setting one piece aside while keeping the other. “Fine,” I assured. “But you’ll have to be patient.”
I smiled to myself, stepping toward the changing area—
Knock. Knock.
All four of us stilled.
Tyler let out a quiet curse under his breath. “You’ve got to be joking.”
“Elsie?” A sweet feminine voice came through the door. “Open up.”
Elsie exhaled. “Lysca! Don’t say anything! She absolutely can not find out anything” I rushed out in a hushed tone.
Tristan’s gaze barely looked at the now ominous door before he settled his eyes on me again. “Do you want her to come in?”
I ricocheted between the three of them, then at the door, then at my underwear. There was no explaining this. “Not like this.”
Tyler dragged a hand through his hair, before casually humming like he couldn’t care less. “It’s not exactly a problem.”
Topher moved in the corner of my eye. He picked up my discarded top and held it out to me without a word.
I took it. Our fingers brushed each other slightly and sparks ignited briefly. “Thanks.”
His voice was quiet yet tightly wound. “You okay?”
I nodded. “I am.”
Another knock, firmer. “Elsie, I know you’re in there”
Shit. Right. Lysca.
Tyler huffed. “Persistent.”
Tristan stepped closer, lowering his voice. “We can leave.”
I shook my head immediately. Lysca would still see them if they did. “Not If you’re taking the front door.”
“We just have to stay out of sight then,” Topher interjected with the suggestion.
Was there a space big enough to fit Three towering Alphas? I rescanned the entire room.
Tyler glanced between them. “All three of us? She’s not blind.”
“There, behind the pushed up couches and Covered Racks,” I pointed to the left corner of the room. As they looked, I slipped my top back on, followed by my skirt. “Just don’t make any noise.”
Tyler smirked faintly. “That might be difficult if you plan on being naked in this room with us.”
I shot him a pointed look. “Just try!”
Would It be weird If I admitted I was looking forward to it? Having three of them hide in the room like children about to get caught for sneaking around. It was oddly satisfying especially given their usual imposing attitudes.
“You do realize we’re Alphas right?”Tyler scoffed rather dramatically. “Hiding is beneath us.”
“Would you like us to tumble Alpha?” I gritted my teeth in annoyance.
That earned a chuckle from him, but he backed off, raising his hands up in mock surrender. “Alright. Alright.”
Tristan began heading to the space. “If she asks about us—”
“She won’t get anything I don’t give,” I cut in to let him know.
Topher nodded once. “We’ll be right here.” They all hid out of sight and I smoothed down my nerves.
Another knock. “Elsie.”
I finally headed for the door. I paused to utter a sharp warning, “And please behave.”
Tristan’s voice reverberated low. “We always do.”
Yeah right.
I opened the door to see Lysca. She stood by the doorway with an amused look under a small frown. “Are you having a Tryst with Tyler?”
