FIFTY ONE

FIFTY ONE
Lyra
“Did she say where she was going?” I asked Ishada. Surprised at myself for remembering his name.
He shook his head. “No. Only that she would be back soon”
Hmmm.
“So, uh, where are we going?” I asked cautiously. I don’t know this man and certainly can not trust him. Right now, nobody has tried to hurt me, but with Anna gone, I dare not assume.
Anna. My sister. Still hard to believe that I don’t have a living relative, but I have a twin. Blood for blood. One that was mated to my mate. Suddenly, my stomach felt uneasy. Like it was being tied in knots. My knees grew weak as I fell to the ground. My mates. I need to see them. I could feel the bond all the way from here, and my wolf yearned for them.
I felt Ria brush against my mind, ‘But they killed our family,’ no. They did nothing wrong. Their parents did the killing, not them. They need to know.
“Take me back” I said, getting up on my feet.
Ishada didn’t make a move to help me when I fell to my knees. He just watched me carefully. Like he was curious and something. His gaze held something soft, but still, he did nothing.
“Back where? This is your home now” the way he said that annoyed me.
There was only one person allowed to be an asshole to me, and that was Kade. “Arrgh” I groaned. Thinking about him made my body restless.
“Take me back now!” I yelled and he nodded.
“Right this way,” he said, still taking me along the path we were headed before.
Since I got here, I've noticed there aren’t many people. The pack was small, and it consisted mainly of elderly people. It looked nothing like the crimson fang. But they didn’t look at me like I was cursed. Each one who looked at me held softness in their gaze. I was smiled at. Some even waved. They radiated warmth. These were my people. My own. No wonder I felt safe.
Sadness flickered through my thoughts. All those years, I had to endure the way I had been treated. The way I was called a nobody. Cursed. Wordless and unstable. When I had a family here. As much as the warmth here was enough to not make me want to leave. I can’t be away from my mates. We haven’t even started our lives together. I was just crowned Luna. I need them. Kade. Kael. I need to see them.
“How much longer?” I asked, feeling agitated now.
“Patience” is one word. Nothing more. I really didn’t like this man.
We came to a stop at the foot of a building. It was small and round. Two soldiers stood by each side. Ishada turns to me. Head tilted, eyes roamed my face searching for any bit of nervousness. I should run. That's what my brain says, but my wolf was calm. She wasn’t frightened, that meant she trusted this stranger.
“What? Are they in there?” He looks at me like I was a waste of time.
“I fear your sister wanted you to see something inside this room. Something that you’d come to understand later”
“If she wanted me to see something, she would have brought me here herself. I am not going in there,” I step back.
I hadn’t taken two steps when those two soldiers moved towards me. Ishada sighed as he would rather be anywhere than here. Dealing with me.
“Nobody’s going to hurt you in there, Lyra. I promise. Nobody is going to hurt you here”
“How can I trust you?” I snapped.
Ishada shakes his head and opens the door to the house. It looked like a chamber. It was filled with pink flowers, and a large bed sat in the middle.
“What harm can a pretty room do?” He didn’t enter, just stood by the door and pointed inside.
“It’s just for you to rest. Once your sister gets back, she’d join you” he sounded impatient.
Resting wasn’t what I wanted to do. I took another step back. Slowly. “I can rest later”
Ishada sighs and signals at the soldiers. I felt it before I saw it. A flower grazed my neck, and the scent filled my nostrils with the sweetest smell. What is this? I looked at Ishada. He was smiling and pointing towards the room. Kade. Kade was standing right in front of the room with his hands held out. My mate.
I pushed away from the guards and rushed into the room. The moment I heard the doors close behind me, I realized I had been tricked. There was no Kade, and I was locked up.
“What is this?” I yelled, shaking the hinges of the door.
Ishada looked at me apologetically. “I am sorry, but this is for your own safety”
“My own safety, my ass. I need to speak with Anna immediately. Does she know about this?” The hinges shook violently, but they didn’t budge.
“Yes. I am not in a position to explain anything, but once she returns, all your questions will be answered. I am sure you’d find everything you need in the room. Meals would be brought to you until this is over. I hope you can understand that your sister is only doing this because she cares for you”
I snarled at him. Ria was agitated now. She didn’t like the idea of being locked up, and something told us that this was about our mates.
“You can’t keep me away from them. Nobody can”
He remains quiet, and I get furious. “If you hurt them, I’d kill you. I’d kill you all!”
“Sure” with that he turned to walk away.
“Let me out!” I yelled. Shaking the gates of the house like I was a rabid dog.
They can’t keep me locked up. Not when I have a feeling I know what is going on. Anna plans to kill my mates.
