Chapter 50 Isaac's Protection

Anna's POV

Emma saved all the recordings on her computer. When she played them, the nasty words just spilled out from the speakers.

It was definitely Judy's voice. "I've seen girls like Anna before, always acting like they're the victims, but it's just a way to get guys' attention. She's probably slept with hundreds of dudes already! She embarrasses me every day, Emma. Do whatever it takes to get rid of her ASAP."

Everyone was staring at me, especially some guys who were looking at me with obvious desire.

I instinctively glanced at Isaac, but Nick suddenly stepped in front of me. He still looked a bit weak from his injuries, but he stood tall, blocking everyone's view of me.

He always looked impressive, and right now, his face had this mix of casual arrogance and maturity that made it hard to look away.

I wanted to stop being mesmerized by him and just feel disgusted and wary, but his looks and presence always made my brain react before my feelings could catch up.

"Emma, you should report both Anna and Susan tomorrow. I don't get why Susan keeps protecting her. I heard Anna's been sleeping around, hooking up with five athletes in one day, making them drop out because of her..." The recording kept playing, with those awful words echoing through the conference room.

Instinctively, I grabbed the end of Nick's sleeve from behind. Realizing my loss of composure, I intended to let go immediately, but Nick had already noticed and gently held my hand.

I quickly pulled away. Nick was known for his flirtatious nature; no one would say anything about him, and no one had the courage to spread rumors about him, but I was different.

At this moment, he suddenly turned around, his eyes looking deeper than usual, staring at me.

I couldn't tell if the intense emotion in his eyes was grievance or guilt, but he just stared at me. His pupils seemed darker than usual, a deep yet clear blue.

A male teacher who was close to Emma suddenly spoke from behind, "It seems every action Emma took was under Judy's orders and instigation. Judy should be held responsible, not Emma."

The male teacher representing the school firmly retorted, "But Judy has always been top in her professional courses and is a student representative of the school. Expelling her would be a loss for the school."

The female teacher beside him also agreed, "How about we step back on the punishment and have Judy apologize to Anna and compensate her?"

The male teacher looked at Judy and asked, "Judy, are you willing to compensate Anna for her reputation damage?"

In their eyes, I was sure to accept Judy's financial compensation.

At this moment, a deep voice came from behind, "Anna, do you want to accept Judy's apology? If you do, make sure she shows sincerity. If not, she can't force you."

As I turned around, my head almost bumped into Isaac's chest. I looked up at Isaac in front of me. He gave me a deep look and then turned to the teachers.

I thought for a moment and then replied to Isaac, "I... I don't want to accept it."

"Alright, then that's it." Isaac's indifferent gaze swept over the faces of the people around. "Expel Judy."

Judy immediately panicked and questioned, "You have no right to do that. On what grounds can you expel me?"

Isaac nonchalantly replied, "Whether I have the right, you'll find out."

Judy was all confident at first, acting like no one could touch her. But when she saw the teachers starting to whisper among themselves, she began to freak out. "Isaac, I've heard you've pissed off quite a few packs lately. If you also tick off my dad and my grandpa's packs, can you really handle the fallout?" Judy shot at Isaac, not caring about the crowd around her.

Isaac just looked at her coldly, totally unfazed. "Which packs? Let them come and tell me themselves."

Judy wanted to argue more, but the male teacher from the school cut in, "Judy, I'm afraid we have to do this."

Judy panicked, quickly walking towards me, her high heels clicking anxiously on the floor. "Anna, how much compensation do you want? I can pay. Getting expelled would really screw up my future."

I looked up at her cold, powerful face and shook my head. "Sorry, I don't want money."

Judy's tone turned desperate. "I'm really sorry, Anna. What other compensation do you want? I'll do my best to meet it."

She looked so polite now, totally different from when she was cursing me in the recording.

"I don't need it." I shook my head again.

Susan came over, holding my hand, and said to Judy, "Yeah, we don't need your money, but you still need to apologize publicly. Who knows how many times you've spread rumors?"

Emma saw this and also came over to apologize, "I'm sorry, Anna. I really didn't want to. Judy threatened me with my brother's future."

Judy glared venomously at Emma. "Why are you acting all nice now? Haven't you always hated people who are poorer and prettier than you? Just wait, bitch!"

Judy slapped Emma, who covered her face in pain and ran away crying.

"The school will expel Judy. Emma's major violations will be announced to the whole school, all her past and future awards will be canceled, and she will be suspended for four months," the teacher announced.

Emma looked hurt but didn't say anything more.

The female teacher from the activities department then looked at us. "I suggest promoting Davy to head of the activities department, with Nick as the deputy head. Anna, you've been doing well recently, so since the activities department is short-staffed, you can fill the position."

I was stunned. "But..."

Maybe she was trying to make up for taking that research assistant job, but I wanted to refuse. Everything had been awful since I got here, and I wanted to use my free time to work.

At that moment, Nick suddenly said, "The student council offers stipends, and they're actually pretty substantial."

After hearing this, I hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay, thank you, professor."

After I agreed, Nick turned his head to look at me, his profile delicate and handsome, his smile like the warm glow of the setting sun. I quickly avoided his gaze.

Some of the original members of the activities department looked at me with complicated expressions.

Gradually, everyone began to leave the conference room. I walked out with Susan and Zora, feeling a mix of relief and anxiety.

"Zora, thank you for being willing to help me. Did Nick tell you about my situation?" I asked cautiously and gratefully.

If it weren't for her insistence on finding out the truth and helping me avoid the traps set by Joy, I might have already broken down.

Crowded places always triggered my anxiety, especially when I felt the weight of everyone's judgment. The fear would make me tremble uncontrollably, and in the past, it often ended with me being beaten black and blue.
